    Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have worked to maintain a strong work ethic, show kindness to others, and commit to doing my best. These values reflect the legacy of Kalia Davis. Learning about Kalia’s life and the impact she had on those around her truly resonates with me. Her dedication, positivity, and ability to encourage others are traits I strive to embody in my academic, athletic, and personal pursuits. I am a motivated student who believes that success comes from consistency, effort, and character. Whether in the classroom, on the mat, or in my community, I always give my best. I take pride in being someone others can depend on, not just to complete tasks carefully, but also to provide encouragement and support. Like Kalia, I value uplifting those around me. I believe kindness and positivity build stronger teams, classrooms, and communities. Athletics have significantly shaped who I am and who I aspire to be. Through sports and coaching, I have learned discipline, teamwork, and responsibility. These experiences ignited my desire to pursue a career in athletic training. I have seen how injuries and physical challenges can impact athletes both physically and emotionally. Athletic trainers provide essential care, reassurance, and motivation. I aim to be that trusted support for athletes at every stage of their journey. Academically, I challenge myself to maintain high standards while balancing demanding coursework with extracurricular activities. I know that doing well requires dedication, focus, and resilience. Like Kalia, who was known for her strong work ethic, I push myself to grow even when faced with challenges. I see obstacles as chances to strengthen my determination and deepen my sense of purpose. Service and mentorship are key parts of my life. Through coaching and working with younger athletes, I have had the chance to encourage others, build confidence, and foster joy in teamwork and movement. Kalia’s love for life, laughter, and meaningful connections inspires me to bring positivity into all my endeavors. Whether I am supporting a teammate, helping a younger athlete develop their skills, or simply offering a smile or laugh, I believe small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact. Receiving the Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship would be a great honor and meaningful support as I pursue higher education in athletic training. This scholarship would help reduce the financial burden of college, allowing me to focus on my studies, clinical experiences, and service to others. More importantly, it would inspire me to keep living the values this scholarship represents—hard work, compassion, ambition, and excellence. I am dedicated to honoring Kalia’s legacy by striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Through my education and future career, I hope to support, encourage, and care for athletes while leading with honesty and heart. This scholarship would not only help me achieve my academic goals but also empower me to carry forward a legacy of kindness and excellence in everything I do.
    Harvest Scholarship for Women Dreamers
My “pie in the sky” dream is to build a career where I help young athletes develop strength—physically, mentally, and emotionally—and create a space where they feel supported, confident, and capable of achieving things they never thought possible. I imagine a future where I combine sports medicine, physical therapy, and mentorship to guide athletes through both injury recovery and personal growth. It feels ambitious, challenging, and at times slightly out of reach but it also feels deeply meaningful and worth striving for. This dream began long before I ever thought of it as a career path. It started on a cheer mat during my freshman year, in a moment that felt anything but inspirational. After a long, exhausting practice, my coach yelled, “You don’t deserve anything,” and the whole gym went silent. As harsh as it felt, that moment changed me. Instead of discouraging me, it motivated me to work harder, develop discipline, and learn what resilience really meant. Over time, I realized that challenges don’t break you—they build you. That realization shaped how I approach my life and my education, and it ultimately shaped the dream I now chase. As I grew older, I found my true purpose in mentoring younger athletes. Coaching swim teams, teaching lessons, helping in dance classes, and leading cheer practices taught me something I never expected: I love helping others discover their confidence. I’ve seen how a single moment of encouragement can turn fear into bravery, or how consistent guidance can turn a struggling athlete into a determined one. Watching young athletes grow both physically and mentally sparked a passion in me that I can’t ignore. It made me want to dedicate my future to supporting people through their most challenging moments, the same way I once needed support. To turn this dream into reality, I know there are steps I must take. First, I need to pursue an education in a field like physical therapy, athletic training, sports medicine, or exercise science. something that allows me to build a strong understanding of the human body and how to help people recover and perform at their best. I also want to continue gaining experience working with athletes of different ages and skill levels, because real-world experience has taught me just as much as any class. I plan to shadow professionals, volunteer, and intern in environments where I can learn how experts support athletes through injury, fear, and frustration. Beyond education and experience, I know that I need to keep growing my own mindset. My dream requires patience, empathy, leadership, and the ability to connect with people who are struggling. It requires resilience, especially when progress is slow. Luckily, these are qualities I’ve spent years building—both through my own challenges and through helping others with theirs. My pie-in-the-sky dream may feel ambitious, but it’s rooted in everything I’ve learned about growth, discipline, and human connection. It’s a dream fueled by heart. And it’s one I’m committed to chasing, step by step, until it becomes my reality
    Dream BIG, Rise HIGHER Scholarship
Education has shaped my goals in ways that reach far beyond grades, assignments, or test scores. For me, education has been an ongoing process of discovering who I am, understanding what I’m capable of, and learning how challenges can become powerful turning points. My direction in life wasn’t formed in a single classroom lesson, but through experiences—some difficult, some inspiring—that taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of helping others. These lessons have given me clarity about the future I want to create for myself and the impact I hope to make. One of the most defining educational moments of my life happened on a cheer mat during my freshman year. It was late in practice, everyone was exhausted, and nothing seemed to be going right. My coach, who was known for being tough, stopped the entire routine, stared at me, and yelled, “You don’t deserve anything.” Her words echoed across the gym and left me frozen and embarrassed. In that moment, I felt small, overwhelmed, and full of self-doubt. I remember thinking, Am I really that bad? Why am I even here? But with time, I realized she wasn’t trying to discourage me. She was pushing me to understand something bigger: success isn’t handed to you just because you want it. You have to earn it through effort, consistency, and the willingness to keep going when it gets hard. What felt like a harsh moment became a turning point. Her words didn’t break me; they reshaped the way I viewed obstacles. That moment taught me discipline and grit, and it changed how I approached not only cheer, but school and life as a whole. As I worked to improve in cheer, going to the gym more, taking extra classes, and practicing skills on my own, I noticed a change in how I approached my academics as well. I became more proactive. I asked questions when I needed help, spoke up in class more often, and stayed on top of my assignments without anyone reminding me. I began to trust in my ability to grow, even when I wasn’t perfect. Slowly, I realized that challenges did not mean I was incapable. They meant I had room to improve and improving is exactly what education is about. Throughout high school, I experienced the same doubts and pressures many students face. Balancing school, sports, leadership roles, and personal expectations sometimes felt overwhelming. But every time I struggled, I thought back to that pivotal moment in the gym. “You don’t deserve anything” wasn’t a dismissal—it was a reminder that hard work creates opportunity. That mindset helped me stay steady through stressful moments and push myself when it would have been easier to settle for less. As I grew more confident in my abilities, I discovered something that has shaped my goals more than anything else: I loved mentoring others. Whether I was coaching swim teams, teaching swim lessons, helping at dance classes, or leading cheer practice, I found purpose in helping younger athletes develop confidence. Many of them reminded me of myself as a freshman—hesitant, nervous, or afraid to make mistakes. I understood their fears because I had lived them. Coaching taught me that education is not just something you absorb; it’s something you can share. I learned how to explain skills in different ways depending on what each athlete needed. Some kids needed gentle encouragement, while others needed someone to push them. Some needed patience after setbacks, while others needed help believing in themselves. Seeing them grow—whether mastering a new skill or simply becoming more confident—showed me how powerful guidance can be. These experiences shaped the direction I want my education to take me. I plan to pursue a career in human health and wellness, potentially in physical therapy, athletic training, or sports medicine. I am drawn to these fields because they combine physical health, mental resilience, and human connection, all things that have shaped my own growth. I want to help people become stronger not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as they go through the challenges of recovery or skill development. Education taught me that progress is rarely a straight line. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s frustrating, but it’s always meaningful. That understanding is essential in health-related fields, where people often feel vulnerable or afraid. I’ve felt those feelings myself, and I want to use that experience to connect with the people I’ll work with. My education has helped me understand how important empathy is and how vital it is to see the whole person, not just their injury or limitation. Working with young athletes showed me how much a person’s mindset can influence their success. I want my future career to reflect that same human centered approach. I want to be the kind of professional who listens, understands, and builds strong relationships. Someone who helps people realize they can overcome obstacles, even when the process is slow or difficult. The lessons I’ve gained from both academics and athletics have prepared me for that path. Ultimately, education has given me direction, purpose, and confidence. It has shaped me into someone who values perseverance, discipline, empathy, and leadership. It has taught me that challenges are opportunities, not setbacks. And it has shown me the impact a supportive mentor can have—because I’ve experienced it, and I’ve become one for others. I want to use my education to create a future where I can help people grow in the same way I did. Whether through physical recovery, athletic improvement, or emotional support, I want to empower others to see their potential and believe in what they can achieve. My goal is to take the lessons I’ve learned—the difficult moments, the hard-won progress, the successes and use them to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Education didn’t just teach me facts; it taught me who I want to be. And now, I’m ready to use it to help others become the strongest versions of themselves.
Leading Through Humanity & Heart Scholarship
Growing up as an athlete and later becoming a mentor to younger swimmers, dancers, and cheerleaders has shaped who I am and what I value. One of the most defining moments for me was when my cheer coach told me, “You don’t deserve anything.” As harsh as it felt in the moment, it changed how I understood discipline, hard work, and resilience. Instead of discouraging me, it pushed me to grow, and it helped me realize how powerful the right mindset can be in overcoming obstacles. Through coaching and teaching young athletes, I discovered my passion for helping others build confidence in their abilities. I’ve seen firsthand how physical activity, encouragement, and a strong support system can transform someone’s health, self esteem, and overall well being. These experiences taught me the values I carry today: empathy, consistency, discipline, and the belief that wellness is about more than physical strength. It’s about supporting people mentally and emotionally as they push through challenges. My journey has made me passionate about human health and wellness because I’ve lived the impact that guidance, motivation, and human connection can have. It’s why I want a career where I can empower people to become stronger, healthier versions of themselves. To me, empathy means recognizing someone’s emotions and experiences and responding with understanding, patience, and genuine care. It goes beyond simply feeling sorry for someone; empathy is the ability to meet people where they are, especially when they are frustrated, discouraged, or struggling. As a coach, I learned early on that young athletes don’t improve through criticism alone. They grow when someone believes in them, listens to them, and guides them with compassion. This understanding has shaped how I will approach a career in health and wellness. I hope to pursue a career in a health related field where I can work directly with people whether through sports medicine, physical therapy, or another path focused on movement, confidence, and recovery. Empathy is essential in these fields because healing is not only physical. When people are injured, insecure, or trying to overcome a challenge, they often feel vulnerable. Empathy helps build trust, which is the foundation of any successful patient-provider relationship. If a patient feels understood and supported, they are more likely to stay committed to their goals and believe in their ability to get better. My experiences coaching have taught me how deeply mindset affects progress. I’ve worked with swimmers and cheerleaders who were afraid to try new skills, frustrated after setbacks, or doubtful of their abilities. In those moments, empathy meant slowing down, listening, and offering the encouragement they needed to keep going. This is the same human-centered approach I plan to bring into my future career in health. I want every person I work with to feel seen and not just as an injury or a diagnosis, but as a whole individual with fears, goals, and strengths. Working through a human-centered lens means paying attention not only to what a person needs physically, but also what they need emotionally and mentally. It means asking questions, adapting communication styles, and honoring the fact that each person’s path to wellness is different. It also means remembering what it feels like to struggle. I often think back to my own moment as a freshman, standing on the mat feeling lost and defeated. That memory motivates me to be the type of professional who lifts others up when they need it most. Empathy, paired with knowledge and hard work, creates an environment where people feel safe and supported. That is the type of environment I want to build in my future career, one where patients feel confident, empowered, and understood. I want to guide people not only through treatment, but through the emotional journey that comes with growth and recovery.
Heart of Service Scholarship – In Memory of Officer Katelyn Tully
From a young age, I’ve believed that the most meaningful impact we can make is through kindness, connection, and service to others. Officer Katelyn Tully's legacy of compassion and integrity inspires me to continue finding ways to support my community and lift others up, especially those who need it most. One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had has been volunteering with Unified Games. Working with athletes of all abilities has taught me what true teamwork and empathy look like. I’ve learned how powerful encouragement can be, and how important it is to celebrate every success, both large or small. These moments remind me that service isn’t just about giving your time, it is about making people feel seen, valued, and supported. I’ve also served as a volunteer cheer coach for a local youth program, helping young athletes build confidence, skills, and friendships. Coaching has shown me how meaningful leadership can be when it’s rooted in patience and positivity. Helping them push through challenges, encouraging them when they doubt themselves, and celebrating their progress has made me realize how rewarding it is to guide others. Seeing athletes find pride in themselves and knowing I played even a small part, continues to inspire me to lead with kindness wherever I go. Beyond athletics, I stay deeply involved in my town. This year, my cheer team and I donated several turkeys to local families in need so they can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. I also assisted at town events like Fun on the Fourth, Christmas tree lightings, and the Festival of Trees. These events bring joy and unity to our town, and being part of the behind the scenes work has shown me how much effort goes into creating moments that bring people together. Helping at these events has strengthened my belief that community service is not just an activity, it’s a responsibility we all share. These traditions bring our community closer together, and being part of them has taught me how even simple acts of service can make people feel connected and cared for. As I look toward my education and future career, I hope to continue Katelyn’s mission of service by choosing a path that allows me to support and uplift those around me. Whether it’s through coaching, community outreach, or a profession centered on helping others, I am committed to carrying forward a legacy of empathy, integrity, and dedication. Officer Tully showed that one person’s kindness can change an entire community. I hope to honor her by living each day with that same purpose.
