I’ve always loved to take things apart and put them back together! I’ve always loved tools and learning how to use them! I’ve always loved trucks and construction vehicles! School has always been difficult for me. I’d rather work on a hands on project and build than read a book. So many teachers had a tough time understanding that I’d rather do a hands on project than sit at a desk all day. I’ve never envisioned a desk job for myself. I’ve always dreamed of being on a job site working, accomplishing a goal and getting dirty. That’s what I absolutely love! I’ve always been good a math in school but English was always the most difficult class for me. I always figured that math can at least help me if I’m working in a trade. Teachers never seemed to understand that. There has been so much pressure ever since I was a little kid to go to college. It’s not for everyone. It is definitely not for me. I remember asking my parents when I was about seven years old if I “had to” go to college and they said no. I have always kept that in mind. My father is a tradesman, he has worked in heavy construction (dock building, diving, welding, cell phone sites and construction dewatering) ever since he got out of the navy. He has spend more than half of his life working in the trades. He instilled a work ethic in me. He helped me realize that you don’t necessarily have to go to college in order to be successful. He has literally built a career with his bare hands. I work at a small local hardware store after school and I absolutely love it. Being around contractors coming in for supplies or helping homeowners who come in to pick up items to do their own projects at home is fun. It’s hard work but I enjoy it. I am finally graduating from high school in June of 2023 and I’m very excited to embark on a career as an electrician. I have enrolled at Lincoln Tech in New Jersey for their Electrical Program starting in August of 2023. It’s the first time that I am excited about school. There will be no history classes or English classes, just electrical classes all day! Some lecture and lots of hands on instruction and practice. It is something that I am interested in and excited about! Finally!!
