I've always been a very artistic person, tracing all the way back to elementary school, where I spent countless hours filling out different sketchbooks and taking them everywhere with me. Drawing became one of my favorite ways to spend my time, and I was constantly coming up with new ideas, characters, and stories. As I got older, this passion only continued to grow, and I found myself wanting to really hone my skills and push myself as an artist. Because of this, I applied to Las Vegas Academy of the Arts for Visual Arts. I got accepted and attended from 2020–2023. During my time there, I was exposed to a wide variety of artistic disciplines and techniques. I learned color theory, worked with oil paints and colored pencils, practiced realism, learned how to stylize a work, and explored sculpture. Name it, and I likely had it for at least one assignment. The experience helped me build a strong artistic foundation while also encouraging me to experiment with different forms of creative expression. During high school as well, I started to really experiment with my makeup. This started in 2020, when I was stuck at home and suddenly had a lot more time on my hands. At first, I was drawing big messy wings and stars on my face. The time alone let me get past the initial awkward stage, and the upcoming year I was doing my makeup every morning at 4 AM. I found myself researching techniques, trying new products, and trying to find new inspirations in different places. The more I practiced, the more confident I became in my abilities. In 2022, I started to really get into the goth subculture and started to experiment with trad goth makeup. It started off messy, but I didn't let that stop me. Like anything else, it took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error. I found out what did and didn't work, what products gave good coverage, and what lasted throughout my day. Over time, I became much more comfortable with the techniques involved and started developing my own approach to the style. After I graduated, I started to turn my goth makeup into drag makeup, exaggerating it in ways inspired by people like Trixie Mattel and the Boulet Brothers. I became increasingly interested in pushing proportions, experimenting with dramatic contouring, and trying to make my makeup resemble a character rather than directly just glam. I found a real love for horror-inspired drag in particular, thanks to Dragula. I also love doing more experimental looks with fun colors and new techniques, constantly looking for ways to challenge myself creatively. Whether I'm creating something dark and horror-inspired, bright and colorful, or completely abstract, I enjoy the process of turning an idea into a finished look. What I love about makeup is the way it can transform a person. You can't define it and put it one certain box. It can be as simplistic as a quick natural look, as glamorous as bridal, or as transformative as special effects.
