I entered Healthcare in 2019 as a caregiver. I enjoyed being able to help my senior community so much, that I decided to pursue my CNA license. After 2 years of working in skilled and long term nursing facilities, I joined management as a scheduling coordinator to match caregivers to our clients to ensure excellent care. I very quickly started to notice how the company I worked for only cared about clients for their money, rather than the actual care we were providing. The company I worked for constantly signed on new clients as we were losing caregivers drastically. The owner of the company head the mentality that we should just try to fill as many shifts as possible to make money and just forget about the ones that weren’t filled. Being how we only had 120 caregivers and 350 clients, many of our clients without care. This completely broke me because all of our clients needed care. There were many clients who wouldn’t receive a caregiver in over a week. I would receive many phone calls from clients and family members crying because of how bad a caregiver was needed.
After many months of dealing with this, I realized that I should start my own in home caregiving agency. I would only sign on new clients that I would actually be able to supply with caregivers rather than sign on everyone and pray that I could fill the shifts. My company would be completely client care focused and driven. I would make sure that proper training is provided to new caregiving employees and continuous training supplied to ensure very knowledgeable caregivers.
