I am an Early Modern History M. Phil student at Trinity College Dublin beginning my studies this coming September 2023 aiming to graduate in 2024. In studying at Trinity, I am looking to examine the Anglo-Irish statesman, economist, and philosopher Edmund Burke’s perceptions of contemporary Irish politics in the last fifteen years of his life (1782 - 1797). In writing this dissertation, I am looking to carefully examine Burke’s motivations, fears, and desires regarding affairs in his native Ireland. In pursuing graduate studies at Trinity, I am hoping to pave the way for doctoral studies in order to pursue an academic career in the greater field of Irish studies. As an American, I am looking to go overseas because my professors here in the United States suggest there are few faculty positions available. Consequently, I am looking to ultimately acquire a professorship in the European Union. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that in pursuing graduate studies abroad, I will become a more well-rounded American citizen. I have an educational background in the humanities with a specialization in medieval European and North African history. I currently enjoy hiking, meditating, and keeping up with current affairs. I am also a classically trained cellist with a background playing in my university orchestra.
