I am a systems engineer with experience in global organizations, currently transitioning into clinical counseling as an incoming graduate student. Alongside my professional career, I have 25 years of involvement in minority recovery communities, including co-founding two nonprofit organizations that continue to operate today. One of these is an weekend conference on recovery of and for recovering addicts. I have also been elected by peer groups to represent Illinois in international recovery-focused bodies, where I contributed to initiatives examining how demographic homogeneity can limit the effectiveness of recovery outreach and access goals. My long-term involvement in recovery has grounded my understanding of identity, change, and connection in lived experience, particularly within recovery contexts. I am now pursuing clinical counseling training with a focus on relational dynamics, sexuality, and gender identity, with the goal of supporting individuals on personal recovery journeys through grounded, nonjudgmental, and experience-informed care.
