Susan Kelly Memorial Scholarship
WinnerCollege is important to not just myself but my family. My parents had me at a young age and never got to finish their degree. My family struggled with finances for the majority of my childhood. My father struggled with addiction, but both my parents did as much as they could to support me during this time of our lives. They have done so much for me and became the best people they could be to support my siblings and I. This is why I have pushed and held myself to a high standard ever since I was a kid. I have participated in all the clubs and sports I could do throughout high school and middle school. I have also worked hard academically and started taking dual credit classes to get ahead in my schooling. I have worked hard the past seven years and am finally getting things in return for the work I put in.
I have been accepted and put my deposit down to attend Saint Mary's College in Indiana. I attended a camp at Saint Mary's for forensic science this past summer and grew to love the school and environment. I plan to study psychology and criminology at Saint Mary's. My future career goal is to become a forensic psychologist. Forensic science and psychology has always interested me; I enjoy learning about the human mind and learning why people do what they do. I also want to help people learn why they think the way they think or help solve crimes to allow victims to get justice.
This scholarship would do tremendous things for my future. I received a merit scholarship from Saint Mary's college that covered about half of my tuition. I still will need to pay about 36,000 a year for my schooling. My parents are excited for me to go to school in Indiana and will do what they can to allow me to go to college. Despite this, I do not want to depend on my parents for funding and want to pay them back in return for everything they have done for me. My parents are the most important people in my life and I would eventually love to pay them back for their support and support them in the future. This grant will help support my education the next four years and allow me to gain more experiences outside of Idaho.
