Bio

I am a senior in high school in small-town Nebraska. I am a part of my local LYF and my school's FFA Chapter. I will be going to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to study Mechanical Engineering. I am passionate about restoring older cars. I am a good candidate for scholarships because I have worked hard in high school and will do the same in college.

    Bold Goals Scholarship
Everyone has future goals, and everyone can reach them if they work hard enough to get there. So, what are my goals? I had to think about this for a while because I only knew I wanted to be an engineer. I had no dream of what I would do after that because it felt so far away. However, after some deliberation, I realized that being an engineer was not my career goal. I realized engineering was something that could help me reach my goal. That goal is to become an inventor. I want to create something that people didn't know they needed until they had it. I want to be known for making something so extraordinary that people say it's ahead of our time. Just like I have heard about so many inventions of the past. There is more to my career dreams than just inventing something. I enjoy engineering, but I want to retire at a young age. Being able to retire young doesn't happen for everyone. By working hard, I can reach any goal I set for myself. However, there is more to life than working, making money, and retiring. I have other objectives too. When I have made enough money, I want to buy an older car to restore. The reason for this is that when I was younger, I would always help my dad rebuild his 1973 Nova, even if I wasn't very helpful. Now that I am old enough to do it myself, restoring a car of my own really interests me. Thank you for allowing me to earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Persistence Scholarship
When I think of persistence, I immediately think about when I trained my eyes to work like the eyes of the people around me. When I was in third grade, I needed glasses and had an exceedingly hard time reading because of my eyes. My eye doctor discovered that my right eye rarely worked. That was causing my left eye to be overworked, and at the end of the day, often hurt. At this point, my parents decided that I needed to go to vision therapy, which was a way of training my right and left eyes to work in unison. However, the only time we could go to therapy was on Wednesday. That was because the only time my mom could get off work for the two-and-a-half-hour drive was on Wednesday. At vision therapy, I was told I would need six months of training if I came twice a week. However, we could only make the trip once a week, so I attended vision therapy for nearly a year. There was more to vision therapy than going to Omaha once a week. Every day we didn't go to vision therapy, we had to do several different things at home. Things like the classic eye doctor examine where you read smaller and smaller letters, to weird things like looking at a glass prism from a long distance. By the time I finished vision therapy, my eyes had hugely improved, so we had a big party to celebrate. I even got a painted handprint on the therapy room wall. So after working on my vision every day for nearly a year, I could finally see like most kids. Thank you for giving me the opportunity the earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Meaning of Life Scholarship
For me, the meaning of life is finding what I love doing, then taking that and doing it for the rest of my life. That could be anything from simple pleasures like hanging out with friends or family to more complex things like restoring classic cars. For most people, however, this doesn't happen. I think this is because society tells us we need to go to college, get a good job, settle down, and start a family. When society tells you what your path should look like, it's hard to do what you love. It's hard to go away from the norm there are plenty of people who go about life never really loving what they do. I have already been striving to do what I love. As I mentioned before, the meaning of life is doing what you love. In my case, that is working on classic cars. I know for a fact that it isn't a good financial decision to buy a classic car before college, but it is what I love doing, so I don't see a problem with starting early in life. On top of that, I will be going to college for Mechanical engineering. This degree lets me work on cars for a living, and even though it will not be classic cars, I believe I will still love that job. Thank you for giving me the opportunity the earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Success Scholarship
Everybody has their own goals, but mine are much different than yours. So, what are my goals? I had to think about this for a while because I only knew I wanted to be an engineer. By accomplishing that, I can do everything I want before I am too old to spend my money outside the grocery store. Being able to retire young doesn't happen for everyone. I know, if I work hard, I can reach any goal I set for myself. However, there is more to life than working, making money, and retiring. I have other objectives too. When I have made enough money, I want to buy myself another C3 corvette. The corvette I currently have isn't the year I love, so I am restoring it to earn enough money to, at the least, pay for my second semester of college. Other than for money, I'm repairing it for the experience. With that, I thank you for allowing me to earn your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.

I know, however, that if I work hard, I can reach any goal I set for myself. That can mean anything from inventing something extraordinary to simply retiring at a young age so I can enjoy life as much as possible. With that, I thank you for allowing me to apply for your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
Several things can fuel me to keep working on myself, but the main things are my hobbies and goals. Having friends to support me would be a great way to fuel myself, but my friends don't have the same ideas for the future. So, I look to my hobbies and goals to fuel my life. The main thing that fuels my life is cars. I love classic cars and always have because I grew up helping my dad work on his 1972 Nova. This love for classics fuels my life because it makes me want to keep working hard so I can afford my own classic. Loving classic cars also provide the goals that in turn fuel my life. These goals are to become a mechanical engineer and build my very own car. I know becoming an engineer will require a lot of hard work. Knowing this makes me want to work even harder before I get to college to make college as easy as possible. I work hard knowing that my effort will pay off in the fire even if I don't feel like it is changing anything now. With that, I Thank you for giving me the opportunity the earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Bucket List Scholarship
When it comes to my bucket list, I have a few things that are the most important to me. Those things are to become an engineer, invent something new, own a C3 corvette, and restore a C3 corvette. I can't be an engineer yet because I need four years of college for that. I also plan to invent something as an engineer because having that will help me a lot in the process. However, I can accomplish the other two things on my bucket list. I recently bought a 1981 Corvette, and the interior wasn't in terrific condition. In a way, that was good for me because buying a second car isn't cheap, and having an interior that needed work made it less expensive. Having an interior in that condition also helped me reach my fourth goal for my bucket list. However, I can't completely restore my car and still go to college, so I need to pick and choose which things I do before college and what I do after college. As of right now, I have restored a good portion of the interior. So if I get nothing else out of restoring my classic, I still got to cross two items off my bucket list. I hope to earn enough scholarships, like this one, to rebuild everything I want on my car and still pay for college. With that, I thank you for the opportunity to earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider my essay to be worthy of the reward.

I'm currently restoring a 1981 Corvette, but I can't afford to keep doing that when college starts because education is a little more of a necessity and expense. Bold Wisdom Scholarship
The sentence that came to mind when I started to think about this was "What comes around goes around". While I am not someone that believes in Karma, I see this sentence as a way of saying if you are nice to someone, that person will probably be nice to somebody else. This is a sentence that most people have heard in their lifetime, but most people don't think about it. When you're having a bad day, try being nice to someone, that can easily make your day better, even if it is something small. So, while the saying what comes around goes around is most commonly used to talk about when people treat others badly, it can be used in a good way too. Using this saying in a good way gives people reason to treat others the way they want to be treated. In addition to that, when you send something out into the world, that will eventually come back. Like a college kid on Christmas break, or a hunting dog looking for ducks. However, in this sentence, it is more about how you treat others. With that, I thank you for the opportunity to earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the award.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
Why do I deserve this scholarship? To put it simply, I don't. I have parents and grandparents willing to loan me money, so I don't have to pay interest on loans. I have also earned scholarships just for taking the ACT from the college I will be attending, for $3,000 each semester, and all I have to do is get above a B average. So, what are my academic and career goals? Next year I will be attending South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for mechanical engineering. So, when I graduate I want to become the best burger flipper Mc Donalds has ever seen. Using my engineering abilities to calculate the perfect way to flip the burger. As for overcoming an obstacle, I will tell you about the most recent time. Just yesterday I was walking through the field by our house to get a barrel that had blown away. Suddenly I came across a row of dead cornstalks that were too tall for me to step over. To overcome this obstacle I started to kick the stalk until it fell. With that, I thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. It was the most fun I have had writing in a while.

My turnaround story comes from training my eyes to work like normal eyes. When I was in third grade, I always had glasses, and I had an exceedingly hard time reading because of my eyes. Right now, I am restoring my 1981 corvette, which may not be the best decision before college. However, that's something I want to do before I get into college debt. Hopefully, if I restore my car correctly, I can sell it for a profit to help pay for my college. Then, when I am making real money, I will buy another corvette to repeat the process. That begs the question, what would I consider successful? If I reach all my goals, is that success? I think it is. If I invent something and buy another corvette, I think that is a success. If I make enough money from scholarships like this one, I will be able to afford college without selling my corvette and going into a lot of debt. With that, I thank you for allowing me to apply for your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Nature Matters Scholarship
When I first saw this scholarship, I thought, I really don't love nature. I don't do anything big like replanting entire forests or cleaning millions of pounds of plastics out of the ocean. However, the more I think about it the more I realize that I do love nature even though it's not in as big of a way as some other people. I really do love nature. Ever since I was a kid I can remember being excited to visit my grandma to play in her backyard that went on for nearly a mile of trees that touch the sky. I love nature because when I walk outside my house and see trees, fields, and our farm animals I get a sense of joy. When I wake up from a trip I look out the hotel window and see the city I don't get that same feeling. I don't really know why I love nature but I feel a difference and a good one at that. When I am stressed over homework or an upcoming test all I need to do is step outside and get a fresh breath of nature's air to calm me down and help me focus. I would much rather be around the trees than the people of the city. With that, I thank you for allowing me to apply for your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Investing Scholarship
Invest in yourself before you invest in others. That isn't what most think about when they get asked about investing, but it is still a great tip that I have taken to heart. When I heard I should invest in myself first, it seemed like a weird idea because most people got taught to put others. That is because I used to think that making the people around me better would make me better in the long run. After thinking about this investment tip, I realized that how I used to think about it wasn't entirely correct. I don't believe the way I used to think is wrong, but I know I can make others better if I improve myself first. I realized that no matter how hard a person tried, someone who bettered themselves first could make more of a difference on the people around them. If I invest in myself before others, I can better help those around me. With that, I thank you for allowing me to apply for your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Study Strategies Scholarship
Everyone has their study habits, but my strategy is a little different than how the people around me study. When I talk to my friends, they either say they don't have to study to get good grades, or they don't study and go with the lower grade. However, good grades don't come easily, but I work hard to get the best score possible. So, how do I study? When I study, I make sure I am away from other people. A place away from people can be a library, an empty class, or even my room. However, there is more to studying than a quiet place. When I find that quiet place, I make sure I am sitting at a desk as I would if I was actually in class taking the test. When I know it will be a difficult test, I have the same flavored gum during the quiz and when I study. This method has paid off for me because, while I don't always get the grade I was hoping for, I still get at least an A-. However, whenever I don't get the score I was hoping for, it tells me I need to study that topic more to improve my grade next time. That study method doesn't help me with a pop quiz, so I have to have a different way to prepare for those. To get ready for pop quizzes, I use my worksheets. Whenever I do my worksheets, I make sure I find the answers from the books, this helps me study faster for a test, and when there is a pop quiz, I know what the answers are. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I how you consider my essay and the time spent worth the reward.
    Bold Patience Matters Scholarship

    Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
Something that is a simple pleasure for me is old cars. I grew up "working on" old cars because my dad always worked on his car when I was younger. I would say I helped my dad work on his car, but really I just watched and held a flashlight every once in a while. I remember highlights of my elementary school years being in the back of his car just driving around town. Now that I am older, I have worked enough to afford my very own car, a 1981 Chevy Corvette. My dad doesn't drive his classic car much anymore, but I can still ride in mine whenever I want. I am so glad I bought a classic car because I can enjoy the ride even if my dad doesn't drive his Nova. I am currently redoing the entire interior of my car just like my dad did when he first bought his 1973 Chevy Nova. Even though restoring a classic car is expensive, I find it worth every penny to enjoy the experience, just like when I was younger. However, I can't keep it forever if I want to pay for college. Because of this, I plan to have my car restored before the second semester of college. Once I completely restore my corvette, I can sell my car for a profit and buy another classic car after college. However, I hope to earn enough scholarship money to keep it for an extra summer and still pay for college. Thank you for granting me the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider my essay worth the scholarship.

That was because that was the only time my mom could get off work for the two-and-a-half-hour drive there and back with an hour of vision therapy in between. I would need six months of training if I came twice a week. However, we could only make the trip once a week, so I attended vision therapy for nearly a year. There was more to vision therapy than going to Omaha once a week. Every day we didn't go to vision therapy, we had to do several different things at home. Things like the classic eye doctor examine where you read smaller and smaller letters to weird things, like looking at a prism from a long distance. By the time I finished vision therapy, my eyes had hugely improved, so we had a big party to celebrate. I even got a painted handprint on the therapy room wall. So after working on my vision every day for nearly a year, I could finally see like most kids. It could even cross my eye, which most kids couldn't do. Thank you for the opportunity to apply.
With that, I thank you for allowing me to apply for your scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.

    Bold Giving Scholarship
My favorite way of helping others is going to an Orphan Grain Train to pack clothing for people all over the world. That is my favorite way to help people because the owners of that Orphan Grain Train can't load all the clothes by themselves. It is also my favorite way to help several people at once because I can help people from all over the world without having to spend a lot of money to travel. However, there is something that makes it less desirable. The Orphan Grain train only wants big groups of people to come, so I can't just go there by myself, and we have to find days that work for a large group of us. The reason they don't want small groups is that they always have people that want to help, and a small group can't get as much done a the larger groups. Thank you for allowing me to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
Loan Lawyers 2021 Annual Scholarship Competition
There are a lot of reasons I would want to have financial freedom. Having financial freedom will give me a head start on the concept of having money to make money. I don't want to be someone that goes to work every day to make enough money for my loan payments. I want to do what I love without worrying about my finances. When I achieve financial freedom, I manage what I do with my finances. If I don't, my finances control what I do with them. To me, financial independence is more than just being able to do the things you love every once in a while. To me, it is speeding my money wherever I want, even if it's a little expensive. There is still more than that to financial freedom. It's getting a job I love without worrying about how much I make. It's being able to help others whenever they need it and not needing something in return. Best of all, financial freedom is being able to retire early and live the same lifestyle as I would if I still had a job. To earn my financial freedom faster, I need to avoid as much debt as possible. To do that, I need to minimize how much I need to pay for college. I work on my family farm when I am needed, at our local grocery store after school, and on a construction crew during the summer. These different jobs helped me a lot. If I keep working at those jobs until college starts, I will have enough to pay for my first semester and then some. Another way I will stay out of college debt is by applying for scholarships like this one. Right now, I have been filling out scholarships for nearly a semester. After doing scholarships for that long, I have more than 50 scholarships on bold.org alone, which adds up. Most of them are $500 scholarships, but every cent counts. However, I probably won't get all of those scholarships. That is part of the reason I chose my college. I will automatically get at least a $2,000 grant for my ACT score, and I am taking it one more time to try and get to the third grant level, which is an extra $1,000. This college has an internship fair for everyone's major. These internships often pay $20 an hour for the summer. I can have these internships every year of college, which will help pay for a lot of my college tuition. Internships make such a huge difference, even after college, because employers hire graduates from that college. That gives the graduates good pay during college and often a good job after graduation. The final thing I have been doing to stay out of college debt is taking dual credit classes, and my school pays for the first $1,000 I spend for classes. These classes are cheaper than if I took them at college. However, there are more things than college. There are lots of things like a home and a car that will cost me lots of money. However, there aren't scholarships for those things, so the best way I plan to deal with those is by finding the cheapest place for me to take a loan till I can finish paying it off. Thank you for giving me the opportunity the earn this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
However, I hope to earn enough scholarships and money to keep it for an extra summer and still pay for college. Thank you for granting me the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider my essay worth the scholarship.
    Bold Passion Scholarship
Something I am most passionate about is old cars. I grew up around old cars because my dad always worked on his car when I was younger. I also remember all my uncles having an older car as well. Bold Driven Scholarship
I have a lot of different goals, but the main goals I have are becoming an engineer, inventing something entirely new, and buying myself an old corvette from the late 1960s. My biggest ambition is to become an engineer. As an engineer, I will have a lot of resources to invent new things for myself and the rest of the world. However, being an engineer doesn't guaranty my third goal, which was owning an old corvette. The pay will help me buy a car, but there is no guaranty that I secure a job right away or even be able to find a car to buy. However, I am sure if I work hard enough at these goals, I will eventually reach them and all the goals I have in the future. Another goal I have that relates to all the goals I already explained is designing a well-made car. This goal relates to everything because after working on cars, I have realized how poorly some things are in cars are designed. So as an engineer, I could redesign cars to make them easier for the mechanic to work. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider me as a finalist in your selection.
    Graduate Debt-Free Scholarship
My name is Mason Gansebom, and I am from a small town in Northeast Nebraska with just over 700 people. I plan to go to college at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and major in mechanical engineering. I recently reached one of my biggest goals which were to buy myself a c3 Corvette. I can say that buying another car isn't the best way to avoid college debt, but I didn't buy it only to enjoy it. I plan to completely restore my corvette, then resell it to pay for my second semester of college. Additionally, I am doing to avoid college debt is working whenever I can. I work on my family farm when they need me, at our local grocery store after school, and on a construction crew during the summer. These different jobs helped me a lot. If I keep working at those jobs until college starts, I will have enough to pay for my first semester and then some. A third thing I plan to do to stay out of college debt is by applying for scholarships like this one. Right now, I have been filling out scholarships for two or three months. After working on scholarships for that long, I have more than 30 scholarships on bold.org alone, which adds up. Most of them are $500 scholarships, but there are a few bigger ones. However, I probably won't get all of those scholarships. That is part of the reason I chose my college. Bold Know Yourself Scholarship
Something I have learned about myself is that not worrying about homework until I need to makes me much more efficient. To me, this is like the saying cross the bridge when you get to it. That is very helpful to me because when I am worried about something that I have to do in the future, I am less focused on the bridges I am crossing. I learned this about myself when I completely forgot about an assignment I was worried about even though it wasn't due for a few days. When I forgot about that assignment, I found it much easier to focus on things I needed to get done. Even though I had already heard the saying don't cross the bridge till you get there, I had never actually thought about using it in my day-to-day life. Overall with less stress at a given point, getting one thing done is much easier. Thank you for allowing me to apply for this scholarship, and I hope my answer is worth giving the reward.
    Bold Motivation Scholarship
You all know college is expensive, and that's most likely why you're doing this scholarship. Many different things motivate me, but the main three are that I can get a good-paying job after college, I have scholarships that are easy to apply for, and I can do more than just a job after college to pay off student debt. Those are indeed all money-based, but that is because that is what directly motivates me. Money motivates me so much because I can use the money to help me reach my goals. Another reason this motivates me so much is that I am most scared of is being able to pay for college in one way or another. Outside of college-related motivation: knowing that I have reached one of my biggest goals motivates me to keep working hard every day. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider me for the prize.
    Bold Legacy Scholarship
I want my legacy to be I was a good friend even after I got rich and moved away. What I mean by that is when I look forward in my life, my goal is to become rich, so when I leave, I have as much money as possible to give to people who need it. Right now, if I left my school and never came back, I would probably be remembered as the shy kid to anyone who doesn't know me personally. However, after college, I want to change what I get remembered for, I want to make myself known as someone who works hard every day to help people. I have grown up being told: money can't buy happiness, but giving to others can, so I thought, why not do both. Although I am fine with being remembered as a shy kid in school, I want to change it to help others. My legacy isn't important to me because I care what I am remembered by but because of the things I want to do for others before I am gone. This essay is what I think, so thank you for the opportunity to apply, and I hope you consider this essay to be good enough to win.
    Bold Happiness Scholarship
Although there are a few things that easily make me happy, there is one thing that makes me happy just by looking at it. Anything from just eating to hanging out with friends makes me happy. However, there is something bigger that makes me very happy, and that is my corvette. The reason my car makes me happy is I finally have it after years of searching. I finally found one that I could afford this summer. Every time I walk past my car, even if I am not working on it, I get this sense of joy, and I think to myself, I bought myself a corvette. Even though it is the thing that makes me the happiest, most car lovers can understand it makes me mad sometimes too. On the bright side, I have something that can make me happy just looking at it, and I would much rather have that than no corvette. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, and I hope you consider my response to be worth the reward.
    Bold Wisdom Scholarship
There is one sentence that is very important to me, and the whole world should think about the sentence is: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson. The reason I think this is an important sentence is that before America started there were a lot of people that disagreed with the way the British ran the government. If people let the government take control of things then we will start to go back to the old ways. Those things could be anything from taking people's freedoms and much more. When Americans won the war against the British they set rules to prevent to government from becoming too powerful but if we start to fear the government again we will have destroyed all the original Americans worked for. The reason this is relevant today is that recently I have heard more about getting rid of part of the ideals of the original Americans. Thank you for allowing me to earn this scholarship and I hope you find my essay worthy of the scholarship.
    Bold Mentor Scholarship
Many high school seniors may not look at it this way but we are mentors every day. When we go to school everyone is looking up to us to see how hard the need to try in school or how they should act. My town only has 700 people in it and the biggest class has 18 students so the elementary and high school students are all in one building. The reason that matters for this is that when we are around elementary students we have the chance to influence them to be better too. In the last period of the day, my class goes through the school and helps the janitors by taking the recycling from all the rooms so we get to see the younger kids even more, and even though we only do it once a week the kids are always happy to see us. From all that it might not seem like I am much of a mentor but a mentor isn't just somebody working one on one with someone. There are other times I can mentor younger kids too, I am in several different organizations that plan events to try to get younger kids interested in them but not everyone is going to be interested in the organizations so we do our best to teach the kids something valuable even if they don't want to join our group when they get older. All in all, if you think about it everyone is a mentor to somebody but they might not know it yet. Thank you for giving me the chance to win this scholarship and I hope you choose me as the best candidate.
    Bold Patience Matters Scholarship
Personally being patient is very important to me. I work at my local grocery store and many times elderly people come in and need help. My job is to carry out groceries to people's cars and when it is an older person I often have to be patient when taking things to their car because most older people don't get around as well as they used to. That is just the main time being patient is important to me. I also want people to be patient with me when I need help. I am still fairly young and don't understand how everything works so when people are teaching me things it is important to me that there are patient. If they couldn't be patient I would have a hard time learning because they can quickly explain something after doing it for many years. I have talked about my work and when I am trying to learn but not my personal life. In my personal life, I have hobbies like any other person. My hobbies take time and that's where being patient comes in from taking time to learn guitar how waiting for a good time to do my other hobbies. My main hobby is older cars and parts to restore those cars aren't readily available so I have to be very patient when waiting for those parts to arrive because I can't work on them while I wait. I hope you consider me for this scholarship and I thank you for the opportunity to earn it.
    Bold Friendship Matters Scholarship
Friendship is knowing that no matter how hard a time in your life gets the person you call a friend will help you out. True friendship is when your friend is willing to go out of their way just to make sure you're still ok. Friendship is when you wonder how someone is doing even though you are not with them. Try this, go to your friend's house and tell them you need a place to stay for the week, and if they let you stay that is what I would call friendship. To sum that all up, if you consider your friends to be family that is true friendship. That is just what friendship is to me, everyone has a different definition of friendship and that makes it hard to write about. For this essay, I have to write what friendship means to me but there will always be people that say "that's not even close to how I would describe friendship." Even though I can't call the people reading these friends I still how you consider me for this scholarship and I thank you for the opportunity.
    Davila Scholarship
My name is Mason Gansebom and I am from a small town called Osmond in Nebraska. I plan on attending college at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to get my degree in mechanical engineering. Currently, I am working on my family farm when I am needed, at my local grocery store after school, and on a construction crew during the summer to gain more work time. I work very hard in school and at my job to make paying for college easier by earning scholarships and making enough money to pay for the rest. That is where my goals come in, my goals are to get at least enough scholarship money to pay for one year of college. More than a year worth of college's cost in scholarships would be very nice. However, I also have goals outside of college. My biggest goals may be college-related but I also recently bought a 1981 corvette because that is my dream car. I admit that may not be a good decision if I want to pay for college but I believe that with all the hard work I have put in I will still be able to pay for my first year of college without scholarships. However, in my opinion, I would much rather have to take out alone for college than not be able to enjoy my dreams for the next 4 years of school. Originally my goal was to simply buy my dream car now that I have it my goal has changed to restoring my car to make it exactly the way I want it. Now for how drunk driving has affected my life. I have been very lucky to never lose any family members in an accident but drunk driving has still had a small effect on my life. Before I was born my grandpa was an alcoholic and would often drink and drive. Luckily he was never in a crash when he was drunk but his drunk driving had a large impact on my mother. When my grandpa went out drinking my mother would constantly worry that he would not make it home some night. Even though I was not yet born when my grandpa was still an alcoholic it has impacted me through my mother. When my mother had kids she knew she was going to be extremely strict against alcohol to prevent us from going down the same path my grandpa went down. I would consider her being very strict about it is a good thing because people with families that were alcoholics are even more likely to become one themselves. So all in all even though drunk driving has had very little effect on my life it has affected me but in a good way. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to earn this scholarship and I hope you consider me for the reward.
    Bold Optimist Scholarship
When I work during school I often don't have time to do things I enjoy because I come home from work, get my homework done, and by that time it is 10:30 and time for me to go to bed. During my Junior year my classes where much easier so I was able to get all my homework done during school or during a small amount of time at home. However, when my senior year started I quickly noticed that my classes were much harder and I was going to need to put a lot more time into them. To stay optimistic during those tough times I remember that eventually it will be the weekend and I will once again have free time. I stay optimistic about the coming weekend because I know there are things I am looking forward to in the coming days. When I stayed optimistic it taught me that no matter how hard your week was there will always be a break coming for you in the future. It has also taught me that after a hard week a nice break can create some of the best times ever. With that, thank you for considering me for this scholarship.
