As a women in my 40's, returning to college after 14 years is something I never imagined I'd do, but it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I am a wife, a mother to two amazing boys, and a full time lead K3 teacher at a Christian school. Life is busy, especially with both of my sons playing travel baseball, but my passion for teaching has only grown stronger with time, and now I'm pursuing my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. This Journey is deeply personal. It's about becoming the teacher I feel called to be, and also about showing my children that it's never too late to chase your dreams. Being a mom has given me a whole new perspective on education. I've watched my boys grow through every stage of childhood, and that experience has shaped how I connect with students in my own classroom. Children need so much more than just academics, they need emotional support, structure, encouragement, and someone who believes in them. Becoming a mother helped me understand those needs on a deeper level and made me want to step into the role of teacher with compassion and purpose. Currently, I work with preschoolers, and every day I am reminded why I love this profession. Young children are curious, eager to learn, and full of potential. Recently, I had a student in my class with a medical condition, and that experience had a powerful impact on me. It opened my eyes to how important it is for teachers to be educated not just curriculum, but in how to care for and support children with medical or developmental needs. It's become a new passion of mine, one that I plan to pursue further as I continue my degree. Growing up, I was that student, the one who was always talking, telling stories, and making everyone laugh. I wasn't trying to be disruptive; I just had a lot to say and loved connecting with people. Not every teacher appreciated that, but my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Turner, saw something in me. Instead of constantly telling me to quiet down, she found ways to channel my energy in a positive ways. She let me help lead morning announcements, encouraged me to be a reading buddy to younger students, and even gave me a small "class helper' role so I could take responsibility and still be engaged. Mrs. Turner helped me understand that being outgoing wasn't a flaw, it was a strength. She taught me how to listen as much as I spoke, how to read with kindness, and how to use my voice to build others up. Her encouragement made me feel confident and capable. Looking back now, I realize she was laying the foundation for who I would become as a teacher. Someone who recognizes potential in every personality type and helps children discover their strengths without dimming their light. Balancing school, work, and family life isn't easy, but I'm motivated by my love for teaching and my desire to make a difference in children's lives. This scholarship would relieve some of the financial pressure of going back to school while working full-time and raising a family. More importantly, it would allow me to continue this journey with focus and determination. I'm committed to becoming a PreK or Kindergarten teacher who not only teaches the basics but helps shape the hearts and minds of the next generation. Thank you for considering my application. I'm honored to be on this path, and I look forward to continuing to grow.
