Bio

Hello, my name is Marrisobe. I am a dedicated student with big dreams and even bigger determination. I’m passionate about helping others, which is why I hope to major in both cardiology and forensic psychology. These fields speak to my love for science, understanding the human mind, and making a difference in people’s lives. Outside of academics, I spend most of my time reading, cooking, doing homework, and playing volleyball for my school team. I enjoy challenging myself, staying active, and learning new things every day. I’m applying for this scholarship because I truly need financial support. My goal is to help my mother, who has worked tirelessly to support me. This scholarship would also help me bring my family closer together and allow us to live under one roof again. Additionally, it would give me the opportunity to get a car, which would make transportation to school and work much easier. Overall, receiving this scholarship would take a huge weight off my shoulders—physically, mentally, and emotionally. This scholarship means everything to me because it would be a major step toward achieving my goals. Your contribution would not just help me financially—it would help me move forward with my education, my career, and my dream of building a better future for myself and my family. Thank you for considering me. Sincerely,Marrisobe

    Martha Brooks Culinary Arts Scholarship
found my place in the world standing barefoot in the kitchen, with flour on my hands and music playing low in the background. That’s how it’s always been—just me, my mom, and my grandma passing down love through food. In our family, the kitchen isn’t just where meals happen. It’s where healing happens. Where stories are told and where I’ve always felt most like myself. I remember being just a kid, barely tall enough to see over the counter, watching my mom roll out dough like it was nothing. The way she moved—it was love in motion. No recipe cards, no measuring cups. Just rhythm, instinct, and heart. I wanted that. So I started helping. At first, it was little things. Stirring. Pouring. Cracking eggs wrong. But every time I messed up, my mom smiled and said, “It’s okay. We’ll get it right next time babygirl.” Trust words like that meant everything to me. Not everyone gave me that space to learn. My so-called father never had patience for it. He’d walk in, see me cooking, and shake his head. “You can’t even cook,” he’d mutter. “Why hasn’t your mother taught you?” But he was never there to see it. Never saw me trying, failing, and trying again. His words hurt—but they also pushed me. I didn’t cook to prove anything to him. I cooked because it made me feel alive. Because it gave me a voice when I didn’t feel heard anywhere else. So I kept going. I burned dishes. I forgot ingredients. I once put salt instead of sugar in a whole batch of cupcakes. But every single time, I came back. I watched TikToks. I studied techniques. I practiced until I got better. Cooking became more than a hobby. It became a lifeline—a place where I could be proud of myself, even when the world told me I wasn’t enough. Now, I dream bigger. I want to go to college for culinary arts—not just to sharpen my skills, but to turn this passion into something real. I want to open my own bakery, one day, filled with cupcakes, drink cakes, custom desserts for weddings, birthdays—moments that matter. I want people to walk in and feel warmth. Not just from the oven, but from the atmosphere. From the intention. From me. This isn’t just about making food. It’s about making a life for myself, one recipe at a time. The Martha Brooks Culinary Arts Scholarship isn’t just an opportunity—it’s a chance for someone like me to be seen, to be believed in. It’s a chance to take everything I’ve learned—the love, the pain, the lessons—and turn it into something that feeds the soul. I’m ready to turn this love into a career—and I won’t stop until I do.
