An impactful figure in my life is my younger sister, the youngest of three siblings. Despite her age, she exemplifies bravery, resilience, and a willingness to advocate for herself and others. Her compassion and dedication to helping those around her have left a lasting impression on me Growing up in a single-parent household led by my immigrant mother, I learned the value of hard work and compassion at a young age. Witnessing my mothers struggles led to me growing up at a young age, and as the oldest, I felt like I needed to support my mom the most. So, I began helping her clean houses at the age of 8 and started assisting with household chores such as doing the laundry and cooking to ease her day. Although I had a brother who was 15 years older than I was, he was absent due to choosing to hang around the wrong crowd. Due to an altercation my brother had, he experienced a tragic accident, falling off a bridge and landing in a two-month coma. This deeply affected my mom, causing her to fall into depression and lose jobs. As the oldest, I stepped up and helped inform our family and her bosses. I also took on the responsibility of caring for my sister. During this time I had also missed out on school as we spent most nights at the hospital and my mom only speaks Spanish so I had to help by translating. After a slow recovery and many years of physical therapy, my brother attempted to return to old habits. When my mom was back at work, even as his younger sister, I made sure that if my brother went out with friends, I was informed about who they were and where they were going. Although he was an adult, his mindset wasn't the same as it was before his accident, so I made it my responsibility to help my mom. As my brother recovered, I became determined to help him break free from negative influences and rebuild his life. Guiding him toward employment and encouraging positive social connections became my mission. Simultaneously, I supported my sister in her academic pursuits and personal development, recognizing the importance of providing a supportive environment for her growth. This is how I found my passion and my biggest goal, I want to work as a juvenile probation officer to help young people find a successful path and ensure they know they have support from many places and from myself. Throughout these experiences in helping aid in my brother's recovery, as well as caring and listening to my sister have instilled in me the importance of proactive intervention and support. Supporting my brother made me dedicated to guiding youth towards success, providing them with genuine care, understanding and encouragement to help young people not only navigate the challenges they face but also discover their own potential for a brighter future and also foster a positive change In the community, especially within law enforcement. .
