Bio

I am a first-generation college student pursuing a Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia at the Medical University of South Carolina, driven by a commitment to expand access to high-quality anesthesia care. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began my career in critical care, first in the CVICU at Emory University Hospital and later across the SICU and MICU at UCSF Medical Center. I played a key role in caretaking for those critically ill during the COVID-19 Pandemic during this time. These experiences caring for critically ill patients in high acuity environments shaped both my clinical judgment and my passion for anesthesia. Currently, I am fully dedicated to my doctoral training, living off loans and savings in order to pursue this demanding path. My long-term goal is to serve in a rural community where access to anesthesia services is limited, either by joining or helping build a practice focused on equitable, patient-centered care. Outside of my professional life, I find balance through hiking, staying active, cooking, reading, and spending time with my husband and two dogs. I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to combine clinical excellence with meaningful service, and I am committed to making a lasting impact in the communities I will serve.

The first time I cared for a patient on life support, I realized how powerful and fragile the human body truly is. As an ICU nurse, I learned to interpret subtle hemodynamic changes, titrate life-sustaining medications, and advocate for patients during their most vulnerable moments. Those early experiences did more than build my clinical skills; they ignited my passion towards critical care and the one-on-one care provided in the field of anesthesia. I am a first-generation college student, and while my parents began their college journeys, they were unable to complete them. Their experiences instilled in me both an appreciation for education and a determination to finish what I start. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began my career in the CVICU at Emory University Hospital, where I cared for patients recovering from complex cardiac surgeries. There, I developed a strong foundation in cardiovascular physiology and in caring for high-acuity patients. Seeking to broaden my experience, I later transitioned to UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, where I worked in the surgical and medical ICUs. Caring for diverse populations in one of the nation's leading academic centers challenged me to think critically, adapt quickly, and continuously refine my practice. Through these experiences, I worked closely with anesthesia providers and became deeply inspired by their ability to blend physiology, pharmacology, and precision in real time. I was drawn to the profession's autonomy, responsibility, and impact, particularly the ability to guide patients safely through surgery, often without them ever knowing the complexity behind their care. I am now pursuing my Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia at the Medical University of South Carolina. This program is both rigorous and all-consuming, requiring full dedication and preventing outside employment. As a result, I am currently living off loans and personal savings to pursue this goal. While this financial burden is significant, it reflects my commitment to becoming a highly skilled and compassionate anesthesia provider. My journey has shaped not only my clinical abilities but also my purpose. I am particularly passionate about addressing disparities in access to anesthesia care. My long-term goal is to practice in a rural or underserved community, where shortages of anesthesia providers can limit access to essential surgical services. I hope to either join or help build a practice that prioritizes equitable, high-quality care for often-overlooked populations. Outside of my professional life, I find balance through hiking, staying active, cooking, reading, and spending time with my two dogs. These outlets help me maintain resilience and perspective, which I believe are essential qualities in both healthcare and life. My path to becoming a nurse anesthetist has been shaped by perseverance, diverse clinical experience, and a deep commitment to patient care. I am driven not only by a passion for anesthesia but also by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients and communities I will serve.
