My decision to pursue a career in nursing comes from years of caring for others and seeing how powerful compassionate healthcare can be. I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for more than 10 years, and during that time I have supported clients and patients through daily routines, recovery, and some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Those experiences helped me understand what quality care truly means and inspired me to take the next step toward becoming a nurse.
Working as a CNA taught me that the smallest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. Taking time to listen, being patient, and offering reassurance often means just as much as physical care. Over the years, many of my clients and patients have told me that I would make an amazing nurse because of my empathy, patience, and the way I genuinely care about people. Hearing that encouragement has stayed with me and continues to motivate me to move forward in this field.
I try to bring warmth and positivity into every interaction. Even on difficult days, I keep a smile on my face and do my best to help patients keep one on theirs. Building trust is one of the most important parts of caregiving, and I have seen how kindness and consistency can help patients feel safe and supported. Those human connections are what make healthcare meaningful to me.
My experience also showed me how important nurses are as advocates and educators. Nurses help patients understand their care, speak up for their needs, and feel less overwhelmed during stressful situations. Watching nurses lead with both skill and compassion inspired me to expand my own knowledge and take on greater responsibility so I can support patients in a deeper way.
Pursuing nursing has required dedication and resilience. Balancing work, education, and personal responsibilities has not always been easy, but it has strengthened my discipline and confirmed how committed I am to this goal. Every challenge has reminded me why I started and the kind of impact I want to make.
Nursing represents purpose for me. My years as a CNA have given me a strong foundation in empathy, patient care, and teamwork, and I am ready to grow into the next stage of my career. I want to continue being someone patients can trust, someone who brings comfort during difficult moments, and someone who helps create a more compassionate healthcare experience.
