I am a Junior Pre-Med student at Howard University, majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology, ultimately aspiring to become a physician-researcher dedicated to addressing health disparities that exist within the healthcare system.
I am deeply passionate in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, motivated by the alarming statistic that Black women in the United States are three to four times more likely to face maternal mortality compared to their white counterparts.
With a background in both clinical medicine and research, I aim to explore how biological and environmental factors shape the health outcomes of future generations of African Americans contributing to striking health disparities. Originally from Senegal, I am also committed to tackling global health disparities, particularly in communities with limited access to healthcare, including maternal health and sickle cell disease.
I am equally passionate about pediatrics as well, viewing it as an investment in the health and future of our next generation of leaders. I believe the intersection of research and clinical medicine is key to advancing patient outcomes and empowering communities.
Becoming a physician will allow me to combine intellectual curiosity with a personal responsibility to serve. My gift of empathy and my drive to serve others are the foundations of my vision to bring about change, offering compassionate, culturally competent care, and advocating for a more equitable healthcare system.
