Hey! I'm Mariah Guzman, a college student who finally figured out what to do with life. However, it took three difficult years to figure it out. In all honesty, I didn't treat my first year of college seriously. As I started to party and began a drinking problem, which not only affected my grades heavily but also worsened my bipolar disorder. Soon after that, I got manipulated into an abusive relationship. I left him and got the help I needed. I'm doing much better now mentally with the help of professionals. I continued my education at a new college since I was kicked out of my last one for my grades. However, I struggled to cope trying to fight for justice. My attempt kinda failed as I couldn't concentrate on my schoolwork from being stalked by my ex. I got back on meds along with therapy. I surrounded myself with supportive friends. School and my mental health improved. Still fighting for justice but won't let that bring me down. This past fall I've gotten all A's, and doing my best to keep it up. I've made many mistakes that I'm trying to fix and make up for. Now with a clear goal, I'm more determined and excited than ever to finish and do great at school. When I graduate, I want to help people not only as a sonographer but also by spreading awareness of domestic violence. I'm here because I have to pay for school on my own. With three more years ahead of me, I'll continue to put effort in my work and won't stop applying to scholarships, I refuse to let money be in the way. Therefore, I will do my best to reduce the cost so I can finish my goals without much worry.
