August 21st, 2016, was the day my life changed forever. It was the day I lost the one person I looked up to the most: my sister. She wasn't just my sibling; she was my best friend, my confidante, and my role model. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she had a way of making everyone around her feel special. She was the most kindhearted person you could ever meet and an incredibly talented artist. In order to carry on her legacy, I also wanted to partake in something creative. In my high school years, I was in an advertising art and computer graphics class that she was in, but after I graduated I wanted to expand my creative abilities, thus I decided to do Film and Video Production. There were a couple of things that I did to cope. First, I started to draw to take my mind off of things, which helped temporarily. In the long run I decided to play basketball, which was my sister's favorite sport. Since I was so focused on my basketball craft I didn't think of my sister's death as much, yes I still thought about her but my thoughts were positive instead of negative. In the future I want to dedicate all of my future work to her. Words can’t describe how much my sister meant to me and after all these years I still can’t believe that she's gone. We used to do everything together, from playing video games to drawing together. My sister truly meant the world to me and the fact that she passed away in front of me changed the trajectory of my life forever. The fact that she didn't even get to take her senior photos or pick which college she wanted to go to breaks my heart that I did it and she didn’t get a chance to. I want to dedicate my entire college career to her since she didn’t get to experience it. I hope to honor her legacy and keep her spirit alive forever.
