From a young age, hair has been more than just strands and styles to me, it's been my version of self-expression and a source of empowerment. Growing up, I didn’t really have much of a mother to help me with my hair nor did we have money I started trying to figure out hair because I had to do my own. What was a necessity quickly became into a passion. Experimenting with different techniques, textures, and colors became my way of not only understanding hair but also of understanding myself. Each braid, twist, and dye job was a step towards independence and creativity. My journey towards cosmetology is also deeply intertwined with a personal loss. The death of my Bepop when I was six years old left a void that words cannot describe. He was my biggest supporter, always encouraging me to pursue my dreams and excel in everything I do. Losing him to breast cancer was a painful awakening, but it also ignited a fire within me to live a life that honors his memory.
