Learner Math Lover Scholarship
It would be hard to find someone who doesn't enjoy the satisfaction of solving a complex puzzle or riddle. That's what math has always felt like to me. From learning subtraction in kindergarten to differential equations last semester, unraveling the problem one piece at a time until its completion has always been incredibly rewarding to me. Even when I have lost motivation, the intrinsic value of pursuing the correct answer has propelled me to excellent grades in my math classes across my academic career. I have even tutored math in the past because I love helping other people solve the puzzle themselves.
Not only is it fun to solve, but math is also a powerful tool that transcends time, culture, and language. We still use the same 0 invented in ancient Mesopotamia and the same calculus invented in the 17th century. It's helped advance humanity in many ways. From engineering various buildings and structures to predicting weather patterns, from the global economy to disease-spread models, it's truly amazing what we've accomplished with math. It even helped humanity land on the moon in the same century we first took to the skies in airplanes. All of these reasons together are why I love math.
