Angel was my boyfriend’s sweet beagle, but from the moment I met her, she quickly became my dog too. She had the softest ears, the sweetest eyes, and the kind of personality that made everyone around her feel loved. No matter what kind of day I was having, Angel always seemed to know when I needed comfort. She would lay beside me, follow me around the house, or rest her little head on my lap like she was telling me everything was going to be okay. Angel was such a sassy girl full of life and personality. She loved being outside, smelling absolutely everything she could find, especially poop, which always made us laugh and say, “Angel, what are you doing?” She loved chewing on bones, hiding under blankets like a little burrito, and spending time with her companions Tucker and Cookie. Her favorite treats were raw eggs and bacon grease, and the second she heard the refrigerator open, she came running. She had so many funny little habits that made her impossible not to love. We got Angel during a season of life when things felt stressful and overwhelming, and she brought so much peace and happiness into our home. Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones—hearing her paws walk down the hallway, watching her run around outside, or cuddling under blankets with her on the couch. She made ordinary days feel special just by being there. Angel passed away a year ago, and losing her was one of the hardest things we’ve ever gone through. She was my fiancé’s first love, and honestly, she always will be. I truly love that about him because it showed how deeply he cared for her and how much she meant to him. Even though I only got to spend two years with Angel, they were some of the sweetest years. She taught me so much about unconditional love, comfort, and appreciating the little moments in life. Even now, there are moments where we still expect to see her curled up under a blanket or hear her little paws walking through the house. Angel changed my world in ways I never expected a dog could. She brought comfort during hard times, joy during good times, and love every single day in between. I will always be thankful for the time we had with her, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
