My name is Marcos Dolores, and I am thrilled to introduce
myself as a transfer student joining San Jose State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering As a project and drafting developer, I am eager to contribute my skills and creativity to the world of civil engineering.
I am a first generation student, and my academic journey has been a labor of passion, love, and determination, as well as resilience from all the challenges I ’ve encountered while holding a full time job and attending school at the same time. Inspired by the transformative and innovative power of civil engineering projects around the world and the contribution to help others in need , I knew I wanted to be a part of the process that shapes our environment and world for the better.
Before transferring to San Jose State University, I
attended Diablo Valley College, where I studied CAD and
drafting design, as well as where I completed the requirements to transfer to SJSU. Throughout my time at DVC, I gained valuable hands on experience using industry standard software to design and create technical drawings My interest and passion for project developing using CAD led me to excel in the course, when I obtained an Associate’s Degree, I was ready and able to take on
jobs with companies where I grew up a portfolio of various
projects, in different cities.
I enjoy taking my dog to the beach and hiking. I love cooking and photography.
Finally, it would be amazing to finish my education with graduate school, go to new places where I can help others and promote welfare for a better world

A trip to the landfill opened my eyes to the harsh reality of our impact on the environment. The air was thick with fumes from on-site machinery, and I watched seagulls fought from scraps amidst the garbage. Despite the pollution and destruction, a little plant was still trying to survive. As I drove away, a handout about global warming was handed to me, and I realized the urgent need to take action to protect our planet, we owe it to ourselves, our children and future generations to do all we can to fight the devastating effects of climate change, Let us each do our part and work together to build a better and more sustainable future.
The rise and continuous increase of global warming is an urgent and existential threat to our planet and ALL life on it, caused primarily by human activity such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. If we do not take immediate and drastic action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to sustainable, low-carbon energy sources, we risk catastrophic and irreversible impacts on our climate, ecosystems, economies, and societies. By acting now, we can protect our planet from current and future generations and create a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
We can fight global warming by making simple and easy changes in our daily lives that do not cost extra money such takig shorter showers, turn off lights, eat less meat, carpooling or using public transportation, replace grass areas for drought tolerant plants or gardens. Furthermore, we can support sustainable practices, for example use less plastic bags, plant our own vegetables if possivle, and advocating for policies that protect the environment. We MUST work together as a global community to find innovative solutions to win the war against global warming before is to late
I personally have taken actions to contribute on the fight against this global problem. for example, at home, I keep lights turned off in rooms when not occupied, I have disconnected light fixtures from outlets when not in use. Planted trees and more flowers to attract pollinators, I take shorter showers, car wash only on places where they recycle water, eat less meat an opt for paperless at any possible time. And I am determined to continue putting my help in. I believe small beginnings can end in great things so Im being positive to continue promoting the fight against global warming.
Why do I think this is important? because t’s a moral imperative. We have a responsibility to protect the planet and all the living beings that inhabit. We cannot afford to wait for others to take action of for the problem to go away on its own. The consequences of inaction are to great and the time to act is now! We do not know each other but we do have a thing in common, and that is our planet, so I invite you to come forward and join me to fight the war against global warming. Together, we can mitigate the effects of global warming so our world can be saved and healed for the damaged we’ve caused to it.
