When I do take mental breaks, I either read a book of my choice, be outside to enjoy nature for a little bit, or paint for a scholarship. Losing a family member is a very unfortunate circumstance, especially if you were very close to them. Before my grandfather passed away, I developed a close bond with him. He was very compassionate, wise and someone who you can confide in about anything and everything. My grandfather helped me open my eyes to all of my talents and capabilities. He was always there for me in my lowest times by uplifting me and encouraging me to strive for the very best. Even though he isn't here I replay all the conversations and moments I had with him. Remembering all of our conversations encourages me to strive for the best and to follow my dreams. The impact he had on my life motivates me to continue to fight to achieve all of my goals. I still remember the night when we got a call at 2 in the morning about my grandfather being emitted into the hospital. He unfortunately had a brain aneurysm. We were able to be by his bed side, but I was hoping and praying he would give us a response. I knew he wouldn't want me to be sad, but it was hard not to be. He became a big part of my life because he was always there for me. He always wanted me to chase after my dreams and overcome any challenge I may face. Losing him was a very devastating loss, but it helped me focus and advert my attention on what matters most, which is bettering my future. There have been many books I have read in my lifetime. The most appealing book I have read is titled The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac Shakur. Tupac is one of the greatest rappers and loved writing poetry. In The Rose That Grew From Concrete, it consists of poetry ranging from various topics, such as love, autobiographical, and issues within the society. My favorite poem in this books is titled The Rose That Grew From Concrete. This is an autobiographical poem on how he achieved success despite all obstacles he faced during his lifetime. In the poem it states how the rose was "keeping its Dreams/it learned to Breathe fresh air." To me this poem is very inspirational, because it motivates me to accomplish my dreams. Since the rose continued to grow and flourish through all obstacles, then I can too. I may still face obstacles in the future, however that won't stop me from achieving my dream of becoming psychologist. Leonardo da Vinci is one of the greatest artists and jack of all trades. I've always admired his work and creativity, especially his paintings. My favorite painting is the Mona Lisa because he uses a special technique called sfumato and the unique smile he painted on the Mona Lisa. The famous smile of the Mona Lisa is very unique since it was created through the shadows of the sfumato technique. Sfumato is a painting technique where all the colors and lines within the painting appear to be hazy or fuzzy. In a way, it creates an optical illusion within the painting. I think the technique da Vinci used made the painting realistic, which is why it is famous today. However, I like this painting because the painting looks like it came out of a dream because it loos cloudy an grainy. Da Vinci's technique helped the painting gain recognition all over the world.

My goals will allow me to keep going and pursue my dream of becoming a psychologist. The unconditional support I have received will motivate me to persevere in achieving my dreams. The aspects that fuel my life will assist me in focusing on my goals of becoming a psychologist.

Confidence is a very important trait any individual can have. It enables you to face and conquer challenging obstacles you will encounter. Furthering my education has assisted me in gaining confidence. My confidence has enabled me to reach my dreams and realize important aspects I have gained over time. My confidence has helped me gain skills that will help me be successful in life. This includes remaining resilient, determined, and motivated even in the most difficult obstacles. To illustrate, taking honor classes were very challenging because the work prepared me for collegiate studies. My most proudest moment was getting accepted into college. My confidence had enhanced when I completed high school and college courses simultaneously. I proved to myself that I was capable of accomplishing anything I put my mind to. This even assisted me in realizing my true talents of remaining resilient and motivated in challenging times. Ultimately, my confidence has allowed me to accomplish all my goals. This includes enrolling into college in my senior year of high school. Furthermore, my confidence has helped m gain qualities that assist me everyday, such as perseverance. Accomplishing college has helped me be more confident in achieving a successful career as a Psychologist. Helping others is what I aspire to do and I am confident to achieve my dreams.

Giving back to my community has always been something I enjoyed. There have been numerous acts of service that I have performed throughout my lifetime. This includes being heavily involved at an inner city church. This experience has allowed me to part take in volunteer work and acquire skills towards my future. While volunteering at church, I was able to assist many individuals. Some of these individuals were teenage runaways, the homeless, and people who battled substance abuse. I was given the opportunity to feed the homeless on several occasions. Along with this, I assisted the youth under the direction of my youth leaders. While counseling I was able to use my experience from being raised from a single father and this allowed me to sympathize with the youth that have had a similar circumstance as me. Overall, volunteering has helped me acquire skills vital to my future. These skills were teamwork, mentoring skills, building acquaintances, and communication. Contributing my time to my community has been very beneficial to me. For instance, I have been able to assist people and be a positive influence by encouraging them to strive for the best. Volunteering has enabled me to gain vital skills that I will utilize in the near future. In the future, I hope to continue volunteering and give back to the society.

Throughout my life I have always enjoyed helping people. Furthering my education will allow me to receive more opportunities in my future career as a psychologist. Going to college will aid me in accomplishing all my goals and aspirations in me future career. Obtaining my Associate's and Bachelor degree in psychology will help me acquire knowledge about my future career. There degrees will assist me in earning more opportunities in my career. My dedication has allowed me to achieve collegiate studies at a young age. At the age of 17, senior year in high school, I have enrolled in several college courses through college credit plus (CCP). This opportunity has continued to pay off by enabling me to work towards my Associate of Arts degree in psychology. My passion in my studies allows me to take steps that will assist me in becoming a psychologist. My interest in psychology started when I took a sociology course in college. It helped me understand more on the brain's functionality and how individuals react. This may include a person's response when they are angry, depressed, or overwhelmed. However, even before I enrolled in college, helping people was something I enjoyed. There have been numerous times where I did volunteer work at an inner city church. While volunteering, my roles consisted of feeding the homeless, and counseling the youth under the direction of youth leaders. First hand, I was able to see the impact my youth leaders made on people's lives by bettering themselves. Some of these individuals battled substance abuse or were homeless. After my youth leaders counseled them, they prospered into successful individuals. Many people prospered into small business owners, pastors, or became youth leaders. Observing how my mentors influenced peoples lives inspired me to become a psychologist. My desire is to help inspire others to achieve their dreams. My determination to earn these degrees will assist me in achieving my career aspirations. It will help me reach the requirements for becoming a psychologist. These degrees will provide me multiple career fields within this profession. This may pertain to becoming a clinical psychologist, health psychologist, educational psychologist, etc. Furthermore, attaining my future degrees will help me reach the requirements for becoming a psychologist by gaining knowledge on the brain. This profession will be very rewarding by supporting others in realizing their capabilities. therefore, I will be a motivational role model by encouraging other to reach their potential. Additionally, my passion enables me to assist others in their circumstances and impact their lives. To exemplify, I can be a positive influence to my clients and help them focus on the positive aspects in their lives. Achieving my academic goals will allow me to flourish by feeling fulfilled in helping individuals.
