Bio
With a degree in environmental studies or sustainability, I plan on advocating for sustainability when easy changes can be made. I grew a passion for sustainability during my 3 years in Singapore. I experienced first-hand the health risks posed by forest burning. Land was cleared in Indonesia for palm oil plantations. This caused the air quality to be so dangerous that school was canceled and it was unsafe to leave the house. I know this is a problem for millions every day. It is a driving force for me to help build on the work of those before me, in order to insure the safety of the environment and humans alike.
I also plan on minoring in Spanish. Learning a new language is a journey I began in 3rd grade through an immersion program while living in Singapore. I continued learning in middle school and now in high school. I have so far completed two semesters of Spanish through the University of Minnesota with my high school's College in Schools program. I will continue my studies in college and hope to expand my education through studying abroad.
I am a competitive swimmer and I am currently working through the college recruiting process so I can continue my passion at the next level. I started swimming in 4th grade and have progressed to competing at NCSA's Junior Nationals as well as qualifying for the Minnesota All State team.
