One of my biggest goals is to become financially stable while building a career that allows me to be creative and independent. I plan to attend college, continue working, and eventually build a career in either business, cosmetology, culinary arts, or another field that allows me to grow professionally and personally. My overall goal is not only to make money, but to create a stable future where I can support myself, help my family, and live comfortably without constantly stressing about finances. My first short-term goal is graduating high school successfully while maintaining a strong work ethic. Right now, I already have experience balancing school, extracurricular activities, and a part-time job. This teaches me responsibility, time management, communication skills, and discipline. To reach this goal, I need resources such as transportation, school supplies, reliable technology, and support from teachers, counselors, and family members. My budget for this stage mainly includes personal expenses, school-related costs, and saving money from work. Since I currently work part-time, I would continue saving a percentage of each paycheck to prepare for future expenses like college supplies, housing, or emergencies. My next goal is attending college and gaining career experience. I want to continue my education while also keeping a job so I can support myself financially. One important part of my plan is choosing a college program that matches my long-term interests and offers opportunities for internships, networking, and job placement. The resources necessary for this include financial aid, scholarships, transportation, textbooks, housing, and reliable scheduling. A realistic college budget would include tuition, food, transportation, personal needs, and emergency savings. To manage these costs, I would apply for scholarships, complete FAFSA financial aid applications, continue working part-time, and possibly use payment plans if needed. Timing is also important in my plan. During my first year of college, my main focus would be adjusting to the workload, maintaining good grades, and creating professional connections. By my second and third years, I would begin internships, job shadowing, or certifications related to my field. This would help me build experience before graduating. By the time I complete college, I want to already have work experience and professional skills that make me more competitive in the workforce. Another important goal is financial independence. I plan to create a savings account specifically for emergencies and future investments. My budget strategy would include separating my income into categories such as savings, necessities, transportation, entertainment, and future goals. For example, I could save at least 20% of every paycheck while limiting unnecessary spending. I also understand that unexpected problems can happen, such as changes in work hours, school stress, transportation issues, or financial emergencies. Because of this, having backup plans is important. If one career path becomes unavailable or too expensive, I would consider alternative certifications, trade programs, or transferring schools while continuing to gain work experience. Success also depends on networking and personal growth. Building relationships with professors, managers, coworkers, and mentors can open opportunities that may not come otherwise. I also plan to improve skills like communication, leadership, organization, and financial literacy because these skills are valuable in almost every career field. Overall, my goals require patience, consistency, planning, and adaptability. I understand that success rarely happens immediately, so my plan focuses on gradual progress, financial responsibility, education, and gaining experience over time. By staying disciplined, using available resources wisely, and preparing for different possible outcomes, I believe I can achieve long-term stability and success.
Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
I want to pursue a degree in nursing because I am passionate about helping others during their most vulnerable moments and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Nursing combines compassion, knowledge, and action, allowing me to serve others not only with skill but with empathy. I am drawn to a career where I can provide comfort, advocate for patients, and be a steady presence when people need it most. My desire to become a nurse comes from my experiences caring about the well-being of those around me. I have always been someone others turn to for support, whether it is offering encouragement, listening, or helping in practical ways. Nursing allows me to turn that natural instinct into a profession where I can directly impact lives every day. The ability to care for patients while also educating and empowering them is one of the most meaningful aspects of the nursing field to me. As a nurse, I hope to contribute to my community by providing quality, compassionate care to individuals and families who may feel overlooked or underserved. I want to be a nurse who treats every patient with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe that trust and understanding are essential in healthcare, and I plan to build strong relationships with my patients by listening to their concerns and advocating for their needs. In addition to providing direct care, I hope to contribute to my community through education and prevention. Many health issues can be improved or prevented through proper information and early intervention. As a nurse, I want to educate patients and families about healthy habits, disease prevention, and available resources. By helping people understand their health, I can empower them to make informed decisions and take control of their well-being. I also hope to serve as a role model and mentor, especially for younger students who may be interested in healthcare but unsure of how to begin. By sharing my journey and encouraging others to pursue education and service, I want to inspire future nurses and healthcare professionals. Representation and guidance matter, and I want to be someone others can look to for motivation and support. Pursuing a degree in nursing is not just a career goal for me—it is a commitment to service. Through compassion, dedication, and continuous learning, I hope to strengthen my community and make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those I serve.

One person who has profoundly impacted my life and helped me realize my full potential is my Auntie Dion. Her influence has shaped the way I view myself, my goals, and my future. Through her constant support, honesty, and belief in me, she has helped me grow into a more confident and determined individual. Auntie Dion has always been someone I could rely on, especially during moments when I doubted myself. She saw potential in me long before I fully recognized it in myself. Whenever I felt overwhelmed by school, work, or personal responsibilities, she reminded me that I was capable of more than I believed. Her words were never empty encouragement; they were backed by actions. She checked on my progress, held me accountable, and pushed me to stay focused on my goals even when it felt easier to give up. What makes Auntie Dion’s impact so meaningful is the way she leads by example. She demonstrates strength, resilience, and self-discipline in her own life, and she expects the same from me—not out of pressure, but out of love. She taught me that success requires consistency, sacrifice, and patience. Because of her, I learned that setbacks do not define failure; giving up does. That lesson has stayed with me and continues to guide my decisions. Auntie Dion also helped me understand my worth. She encouraged me to speak up, believe in myself, and never settle for less than I deserve. When I struggled with confidence or felt unsure of my direction, she reminded me of how far I had already come and pushed me to envision a future bigger than my fears. Her belief in me gave me the courage to challenge myself and pursue opportunities that once seemed intimidating. Most importantly, Auntie Dion has shown me the power of having someone who genuinely cares about your success. Her influence has motivated me to work harder, aim higher, and stay committed to my goals. Because of her guidance, I now understand that realizing my full potential is not about perfection, but about growth and persistence. Auntie Dion’s impact on my life is immeasurable. She has helped shape my character, strengthen my confidence, and clarify my purpose. As I continue to move forward, I carry her lessons with me and strive to become someone who can have the same positive impact on others that she has had on me and I’m so happy for her to do that for me

Education is more than a personal achievement to me; it is a responsibility. Through my future education, I plan to make a positive impact on the world by using what I learn to uplift, guide, and empower others—especially those who may not always see their own potential. I believe that knowledge is most powerful when it is shared, and my goal is to pour into the lives of others in ways that help them succeed academically, personally, and professionally. As I continue my education, I want to be a role model for younger students and peers who may feel uncertain about their future. I know how important encouragement can be, especially when someone feels overlooked or underestimated. By mentoring students, tutoring when possible, and offering honest guidance, I hope to help others realize that their circumstances do not define their limits. Sometimes, success begins with simply having someone who believes in you, and I want to be that source of motivation for others. My education will also equip me with critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills that I can use to serve my community. I plan to stay involved in community programs, youth organizations, and volunteer opportunities where I can actively support others. Whether it is helping students improve their academic performance, assisting families through service initiatives, or contributing to programs that promote discipline and self-confidence, I want my education to translate into meaningful action. Additionally, I aim to pour into others by promoting the value of discipline, consistency, and hard work. Many people struggle not because they lack ability, but because they lack guidance and structure. By sharing the lessons I learn through my education—such as goal-setting, time management, and perseverance—I can help others build habits that lead to long-term success. I want to teach by example, showing that commitment and effort can open doors to opportunities that once seemed unreachable. In the long term, I hope to use my education to create opportunities rather than just pursue them. Whether through leadership, mentorship, or service, my goal is to leave a positive mark on every space I enter. I want people to feel supported, encouraged, and inspired to push beyond their comfort zones after interacting with me. Success, to me, is not only measured by personal accomplishments but by how many lives I help improve along the way. Through my future education, I will passionately invest in others by sharing knowledge, offering support, and leading with purpose. By doing so, I hope to contribute to a world where more people feel confident in their abilities and empowered to succeed.

My experience at Coleman Place Elementary School played an important role in shaping my future by laying the foundation for who I am today academically, socially, and personally. Those early years were where I began to understand the importance of learning, responsibility, and perseverance—lessons that continue to guide me as I grow and work toward my goals. At Coleman Place, I was introduced to a structured environment that emphasized respect, discipline, and effort. My teachers encouraged me to believe in myself and reminded me that my potential was not limited by my age or background. They pushed me to ask questions, participate in class, and try my best even when I felt unsure. That support helped build my confidence and taught me that success often comes from consistent effort rather than perfection. The school also helped shape my ability to work with others. Through group projects, classroom discussions, and school activities, I learned the value of teamwork and communication. I began to understand how listening to others, sharing ideas, and supporting my peers could lead to stronger results. These early lessons helped me develop social skills that are still important in my education and work life today. Additionally, Coleman Place Elementary School taught me the importance of responsibility and time management. Completing assignments, following rules, and meeting expectations prepared me for the increased responsibilities I would face in later grades. Learning how to stay organized and accountable at a young age made the transition to middle and high school smoother and less overwhelming. Most importantly, my experience at Coleman Place inspired a positive attitude toward learning. The encouragement I received made me realize that education is a powerful tool for growth and opportunity. The lessons I learned there—both inside and outside the classroom—continue to influence how I approach challenges, set goals, and remain determined even when things are difficult. In many ways, Coleman Place Elementary School helped shape the foundation of my character. The values, skills, and confidence I gained there have followed me into the next stages of my life and will continue to guide me as I work toward my future goals. Another important way Coleman Place Elementary School shaped my future was by teaching me resilience. There were moments when schoolwork felt challenging or when I struggled to understand certain lessons. Instead of giving up, my teachers encouraged me to keep trying and ask for help. This taught me that mistakes are part of learning and that growth comes from perseverance. That mindset has stayed with me and helps me push through difficulties in school and in life. Coleman Place also helped me develop a sense of pride in my accomplishments. Whether it was earning good grades, completing projects, or being recognized for positive behavior, those moments motivated me to continue striving for success. The encouragement I received made me realize that hard work pays off and that effort should always be taken seriously. This sense of pride continues to influence how I set goals for myself and motivates me to stay focused on achieving them.

      1. Personal Inspiration for Pursuing a Career in Nursing (250–300 words) For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been the person in my family who people came to when something was wrong. Whether someone had a headache, was stressed out, or just needed someone to sit with them, I was usually the one trying to help. I didn’t think much of it at first — it just felt natural to care for people. But as I got older, I realized how powerful that instinct was and how much it shaped the kind of future I want for myself. My inspiration for pursuing nursing comes from a mix of personal experiences and the way I’ve seen nurses change people’s lives. I’ve watched nurses take care of my family members during times when we were scared and unsure. The way they stayed calm, explained things clearly, and treated us with respect meant everything. It wasn’t just the medical part — it was their compassion, their patience, and the way they made us feel less alone. I remember thinking, “I want to be that person for somebody one day.” I also love the idea that nursing lets you grow constantly. There’s always something new to learn, and every patient teaches you something different. It’s a career where you can make real connections and see the impact of your work in someone’s recovery, their comfort, or even just their smile. Choosing nursing isn’t just about having a job to me — it’s about stepping into a role where I can treat people with kindness, advocate for them, and make a difference when they need it the most. ⸻ 2. What “Human Touch” Means to Me & Its Impact on Patient Care (350–400 words) When I think of the phrase “human touch,” I don’t just think about physically touching someone. To me, “human touch” means showing real care, presence, and understanding. It’s the emotional connection you build when you slow down, really listen, and let someone know that you see them as a person — not just a patient, a diagnosis, or a number. It’s that moment when someone feels understood, safe, or comforted because of the way you speak to them, support them, or simply show up for them. In healthcare, the human touch is just as important as any medical treatment. Patients are often in situations where they feel scared, confused, or vulnerable. A nurse who shows warmth, patience, and empathy can completely change how someone experiences their care. Something as simple as explaining a procedure gently, holding someone’s hand, giving them time to ask questions, or remembering small details about them can make them feel valued instead of overlooked. I’ve seen how the human touch can calm someone who’s anxious or bring comfort to someone who feels alone. When a nurse takes the time to connect, the patient becomes more willing to trust them, communicate openly, and follow through with treatments. That kind of trust can lead to better outcomes and a smoother healing process. The human touch can also help families. A kind word, a moment of reassurance, or even just showing empathy can help a family feel supported when they’re watching someone they love struggle. To me, bringing the human touch into patient care means remembering that every person has a story, feelings, and fears. It means treating each patient with dignity and compassion, even on the busiest days. As a future nurse, I want to provide care that heals both physically and emotionally. I want my patients to feel like they’re more than their illness — they’re someone worth listening to, protecting, and caring for.
