Bridging the gap between culture, creativity, and community is what drives me. I’m currently a Social Science major with a concentration in Criminal Justice and a Marketing minor at Savannah State University, an HBCU that has shaped my journey both personally and professionally. I aspire to enter the business and corporate world through law, with the goal of becoming an entertainment attorney. This career path merges my passion for creativity with my commitment to advocacy, ensuring that artists, especially those from marginalized backgrounds have the legal protection and representation they deserve. My passion for this work stems from a deep appreciation of how music, media, and storytelling unite people. I believe that creativity deserves to be both celebrated and safeguarded. I want to build a career that not only supports underrepresented voices in business and entertainment but also educates others on the importance of intellectual property and brand ownership. Funding my education has not been easy. I’ve learned how to balance rigorous academics with several leadership roles on campus in order to maintain progress toward my goals. This scholarship would significantly reduce the financial burden I face and allow me to continue focusing on building my professional foundation through internships, networking opportunities, and continued service to my community. I’ve immersed myself in campus life to grow as a leader and servant. I currently serve as a Peer Academic Coach, where I mentor students academically and connect them to campus resources. I’m also the Vice President for my school’s NCNW chapter, where I help curate service initiatives and amplify the voices of Black women on campus. As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, I help promote sisterhood and scholarship through events and public service. Last year, I held the title of Miss Her Campus, where I organized a campus-wide study session before finals, supported a Sisterhood Coalition picnic to foster unity among women’s organizations, and aided in a Dorm Storm event to collect and donate period products for students in need. These experiences reflect the kind of leader I strive to be one who is creative, compassionate, and committed to her community. Through my participation in the S.T.R.I.P.E. program, I’ve completed over 100 hours of community service, including volunteer work at the Boys and Girls Club and the campus food pantry. These efforts reflect my belief that true leadership begins with service. Receiving this scholarship would not only ease the financial challenges of pursuing higher education but also empower me to continue this work at a higher level. With your support, I can keep investing in my academic and professional journey, using my business knowledge and legal aspirations to build a career that uplifts, protects, and amplifies the voices of others.

1. To me, YOU GOT IT GIRL embodies the characteristics of dedication, tenacity, and teamwork. All which have been commons themes in my life as well. These dear characteristic were implanted in my life through my sports experience and have been pillars I have been able to cling to as I have grown through life. This scholarship would help alleviate a major portion of my finical burdens and allow me to truly focus on my academics and physical health. 2. My journey in sports began when I was just shy of 2 years old during my first gymnastics class, to which I continued competitively for 13 consecutive years. This time and training shaped a vast part of their person I am today. Focus, consistency, and determination were crucial to my success. However, it wasn't then end of my athletic journey, As I continued on to high school I played volley ball, ran track and cheered. Most recently, I cheer at my university. To which I earned the Bronze student athlete award for my GPA. 3. Last season, I faced a finical problem of not being able to take advantaged on being on the cheer team because I could not afford it. I did not let my finical burdens over power me and I took the same dedication consistently that I learned in gymnastic and applied to over 60 scholarship to attempt to cover the cost. Though the process was slow and appeared bleak I persisted. Luckily I was able to secure one and I was able to afford the dues for the season. 4. There have been so many influential people in my life however, I look currently up to my grandmother. As she truly has guided me and given me so much wisdom. Her support has ben such a driving factor in all that I do. I know that in her time she was not able to achieve all that she wanted to due to societal restrictions and systems thus it motivated me to truly fulfill an olive out my own purpose because I now have the option to. 5. This scholarship would help contribute to my aspirations academically and athletically. Last season there were various unexpected cost that naturally arose and which became a struggle for me to keep up. With this scholarship I intend to afford the all of the small miscellaneous purchase of spontaneous team keepsakes, cleaner food so my performance improves, and possibly not have to worry about affording books for my classes.

When I arrived at college, I was overwhelmed. I had ambition but no clear direction. I watched other students struggle with the same things I was balancing academics, managing finances, and finding a sense of belonging. That experience inspired me to become a peer academic coach, where I now guide students through the same obstacles I once faced. I also contribute to the legacy of S.T.R.I.P.E. (Student Tools, Resources, Insights, Preparation, and Excellence) by hosting seminars focused on financial literacy, academic goal setting, and social development. These experiences have taught me that the best way to grow is by helping others grow with you. If given the opportunity, I would improve my community by creating programs that promote academic success, financial literacy, and social development for students who, like me, have faced challenges navigating college life. This is important to me because I know what it feels like to lack support, and I am committed to being the resource and role model I once needed Through this program, I have hosted several seminars dedicated to enhancing my community financially, socially, and academically. I have led workshops on creating academic vision boards, building personal brands, and navigating campus resources. I use my public speaking, graphic design, and leadership skills to make each session interactive, meaningful, and accessible to all students, especially those who feel unseen or unsupported. In addition to my work with S.T.R.I.P.E., I serve as a peer academic coach, Miss Her Campus, fundraising chair of NCNW, and secretary of the Association of Pre-Law Students. Each of these roles allows me to give back to my peers by organizing community events, mentoring fellow students, and encouraging others to embrace their potential. I take pride in being the person I once needed when I was navigating college life without clear guidance. With the help of this scholarship, I will continue to empower others while pursuing my goal of becoming an entertainment lawyer. I am passionate about protecting the intellectual property of Black creatives and ensuring that their talents are valued and their rights respected. I want to help artists own their voices and use their gifts to build generational wealth. This scholarship would ease the financial burden of college, allowing me to focus on my studies, expand my outreach efforts, and create even greater impact. I do not just want to succeed. I want to light the way for others. With your support, I am just getting started.

My relationship with mental health has been deeply personal and evolving. I was first introduced to its weight at a young age when my older sister attempted to end her life. I still remember the quiet confusion I felt as we dropped her off at a mental health facility. I did not yet have the language to understand what was happening, only the heavy realization that something inside our home had changed. From that moment on, I began moving through the world with deep compassion for others. However, I often noticed that the grace I extended so freely to everyone else rarely made its way back to me. As a middle child, I became comfortable existing in the background, serving as a quiet bridge between those around me. I learned to dim myself in order to protect the peace of others. College gave me the space to begin unlearning that habit. It encouraged me to ask, "Who am I outside of what I offer to others?" and "What does it truly mean to care for myself?" I began intentionally cultivating habits that protect my mental health. I started attending therapy, committed to reflective journaling, and created boundaries that prioritized my personal peace. These practices have allowed me to show up fully in every space I enter. I became Miss Her Campus, was elected fundraising chair for NCNW, served as a peer academic coach, and was proudly inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Each of these accomplishments was made possible because I chose to invest in my healing. By learning to love and prioritize myself, I have become a more capable, thoughtful, and impactful leader. Most importantly, this journey has deepened my purpose. I want to use my voice and platform to support my community, especially Black women. In too many mental health conversations, our needs are minimized or ignored. We are often expected to carry the weight of strength without being given room to be vulnerable. I want to change that narrative by helping to create spaces where Black women are seen, heard, and supported without conditions.

I attribute my success to my positive self image that I have worked incredibly hard to obtain. For most people just having self determination and drive is what gets them going. While these attributes are needed, I've learned they just aren't enough. For me, as a former self-critic and perfectionist, it has taken me 20 years to develop a positive self esteem and relationship with myself. After all there is nothing to but to do it, when it comes to completing task or accomplishing things. I had to forgive myself for not knowing everything at all the time, while embrace asking for for help, and my mistakes as they led to my triumphs. Taking accountability for my actions and time management have been two essential 'grown up' skills I have not only develop but continue to strengthen. I do this through various systems of my glorious calendar and a great support system. Success is often the result of learning from mistakes and seeking help when needed. Throughout my journey, I have embraced the idea of forgiving myself for not knowing everything all the time, asking for help, and turning my mistakes into opportunities for growth. This approach has been instrumental in my ability to fulfill multiple roles, including NCNW fundraising chair, cheerleader, Miss Her Campus, and Association of Pre-Law Students (APLES) student secretary for the upcoming school year. Additionally, it has enabled me to obtain my real estate license despite initial setbacks. Forgiving myself for not knowing everything at all times has been a crucial aspect of my personal and professional development. When I encountered difficulties in my studies or leadership roles, I did not let my lack of immediate knowledge deter me. Instead, I acknowledged my limitations and sought out the resources and support needed to overcome them. Embracing the act of asking for help has been equally important. This willingness to ask for help has not only expanded my knowledge but has also fostered a sense of community and teamwork. It has shown me that success is often a collective effort, built on the support and wisdom of others. Mistakes, rather than being setbacks, have become stepping stones to my triumphs. Each error has been a learning experience, providing valuable insights and strengthening my resilience. For instance, when I failed my real estate license exam by just three points on my first attempt, I did not let the failure define me. Instead, I analyzed my mistakes, adjusted my study approach, and persevered. My determination paid off, and I obtained my license at 19 years old, a testament to my ability to turn failure into success. In my personal and professional life, accountability and time management have been vital tools. By maintaining a detailed calendar and holding myself accountable for my commitments, I have been able to balance multiple responsibilities effectively. I am profoundly grateful for the support system that has accompanied me on this journey. My family, mentors, and friends have provided unwavering encouragement and guidance, empowering me to reach my goals. In conclusion, my success is rooted in the ability to forgive myself for not knowing everything, embrace asking for help, and learn from my mistakes. These skills have enabled me to fulfill multiple roles, achieve my real estate license, and manage my responsibilities effectively. With the support of my amazing network and a commitment to accountability and time management, I am confident in my ability to continue achieving my dreams and making a positive impact on my community.

From a young age, books have been a constant companion, shaping my thoughts and dreams. They have helped me develop into the woman I always aspired to be, providing wisdom, solace, and a sense of belonging. The act of reading itself is a privilege that I hold dear, as it allows me to explore diverse perspectives, cultures, and experiences. In the pages of books, I have found role models, discovered new worlds, and gained insights that have guided me through various stages of life. Books have always been more than just pages bound together for me; they are portals to other worlds, vessels of knowledge, and sources of profound inspiration. The privilege and ability to read is a sacred key to knowledge, opening doors to understanding, empathy, and personal growth. In recent times, #BookTok, a vibrant community on TikTok dedicated to book recommendations and literary discussions, has significantly influenced my reading choices. Through #BookTok, I have discovered several must-have titles that have profoundly impacted me and many others. Among these are "Seven Days in June" by Tia Williams, "The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois" by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers, "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison, and "Sacred Pampering Principles" by Debrena Jackson Gandy. "Seven Days in June" is a contemporary romance that weaves together themes of love, pain, and healing. Tia Williams' storytelling is both captivating and relatable, offering a poignant exploration of second chances and the complexities of relationships. " Sacred Pampering Principles" by Debrena Jackson Gandy is a guide to self-care and empowerment for women. Gandy's holistic approach to self-care, which encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, has been transformative for many readers, including myself. Her emphasis on the importance of self-love, balance, and intentional living resonates deeply in a world that often glorifies busyness and neglects the need for self-care. This book has been a valuable resource for cultivating a more mindful and fulfilling life. Toni Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" is a classic that has left an indelible mark on literature and on my own understanding of beauty, race, and identity. Morrison's exploration of the destructive power of societal beauty standards and the impact of internalized racism is both heartbreaking and illuminating. Through the tragic story of Pecola Breedlove, Morrison challenges readers to confront uncomfortable truths about race and beauty in America. Since adolescence , I have been driven by the dual passions of advocating for justice and celebrating creativity. The dream of becoming an entertainment lawyer is not just a career aspiration for me; it is a profound mission that intertwines my desire to support my family and to help others protect and share their artistic expressions. Jean-Michel Basquiat once said, "Art is how we decorate space and music is how we decorate time." This quote encapsulates the essence of my journey—one that aims to safeguard the beauty of art and music while ensuring that creators are respected, and their rights upheld. The immediate motivation for pursuing a career in entertainment law stems from a deep commitment to support my family. Providing them with financial stability and legal protection is a driving force behind my dedication to this profession. However, my vision extends far beyond my personal circle. I aspire to be an advocate for artists everywhere, helping them navigate the complexities of the legal landscape to protect their intellectual property and ensure fair treatment in the industry. Mortality connects us all, reminding us of the fleeting nature of life and the importance of creating lasting legacies. Art and music are two of the most profound ways we can leave our mark on the world. They transcend time, evoking emotions, memories, and stories that resonate across generations. This shared human experience makes the pursuit of protecting art and music even more significant. It is through these mediums that we find common ground, celebrate our diversity, and enrich our lives. Personally, I believe that music is a powerful healer. It has the unique ability to unlock memories, tell compelling stories, and provide joy. Whether it's a song that brings back a cherished moment or a melody that lifts our spirits, music has an undeniable impact on our well-being. By becoming an entertainment lawyer, I aim to ensure that musicians and artists can freely share their work, knowing that their intellectual property is secure and their contributions valued. As an entertainment lawyer, my goal is to foster an environment where creativity can flourish. This involves more than just drafting contracts or litigating disputes. It means advocating for fair industry practices, negotiating contracts that are beneficial for all parties involved, and providing guidance that helps artists navigate their careers successfully. By protecting the rights of creators and ensuring equitable treatment, I hope to contribute to a more just and vibrant entertainment industry. Contracts, often viewed as mundane legal documents, can be instruments of empowerment when crafted thoughtfully. They can ensure that artists retain control over their work, receive fair compensation, and have the freedom to continue creating without fear of exploitation. My aim is to make every contract an opportunity for empowerment, fostering a landscape where both creativity and fairness thrive. My dream of becoming an entertainment lawyer is deeply rooted in a desire to support my family and to help others create and protect beautiful art. Inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat's words, I am committed to protecting the spaces we decorate with art and the times we embellish with music. Through my legal career, I hope to make a positive impact on the world by advocating for artists, ensuring fair industry practices, and celebrating the universal beauty of creativity. In doing so, I aspire to contribute to a world where art and music continue to heal, inspire, and connect us all. By providing legal support and fostering an environment of respect and fairness, I believe that we can create a future where the arts not only survive but thrive, enriching our shared human experience.

From an early age, I have been acutely aware of the negative stigma often associated with lawyers, particularly the perception of them being greedy and self-serving. Additionally, as a member of the African American community, I have witnessed firsthand the marginalization of our talents and contributions in the entertainment industry. These observations have fueled my passion to become an entertainment attorney dedicated to fostering fairness, protecting intellectual property, and ensuring that all creators receive the recognition and compensation they deserve. The stereotype of lawyers being greedy is pervasive, yet it is one that I am determined to challenge throughout my career. My goal is to redefine the role of an attorney as a champion for justice and an advocate for the underrepresented. In the entertainment industry, where African American artists and creators have historically faced significant barriers, I see an urgent need for legal professionals who are committed to equity and fairness. African Americans have made monumental contributions to the entertainment industry, from music and film to literature and visual arts. Despite this, our community often struggles with underrepresentation, unequal pay, and limited access to opportunities. These disparities are not just a matter of industry practice but are also reflective of broader societal inequities. As an entertainment attorney, I plan to use my position to address these issues head-on, advocating for policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion. Intellectual property (IP) is the lifeblood of the entertainment industry. It encompasses the ideas, creations, and innovations that drive cultural and economic value. I firmly believe that everyone has the right to have their intellectual property protected under the law. Unfortunately, many creators, particularly those from marginalized communities, are vulnerable to unfair infringement and exploitation. My education in law has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of intellectual property rights. I plan to use this expertise to help creators safeguard their works, ensuring that they receive proper credit and compensation. By providing robust legal protection, I aim to create an environment where artists can thrive and innovate without fear of their creations being stolen or misused. My vision for making a positive impact extends beyond individual cases. I aspire to influence broader systemic changes within the entertainment industry. This involves advocating for stronger IP laws that are accessible and fair to all, regardless of their background. It also means working with industry stakeholders to develop best practices that recognize and reward diversity. Furthermore, I intend to mentor and support aspiring lawyers and creators from underrepresented communities. By sharing my knowledge and experiences, I hope to empower others to pursue their passions and contribute to a more equitable industry. Education and mentorship are critical components of building a sustainable pipeline of diverse talent in both the legal and creative sectors. As I embark on my career as an entertainment attorney, my mission is clear: to dismantle harmful stereotypes, champion the rights of marginalized creators, and protect intellectual property with integrity and fairness. The entertainment industry has the power to shape culture and influence society, and it is imperative that this power is wielded responsibly and inclusively. Through my dedication to equitable legal practices and my commitment to advocating for those who have historically been overlooked, I believe that I can make a meaningful difference. By ensuring that all creators have their ideas and creations protected under the law, we can foster a more just and vibrant entertainment industry that celebrates and respects the contributions of every individual.

Community service plays a pivotal role in addressing the needs of marginalized and underfunded communities, and the work undertaken by the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) in Savannah exemplifies this commitment. Over the past year, our chapter has focused on critical issues such as community hunger and providing essential supplies to women in shelters, making a tangible difference in the lives of many. One of our primary initiatives last year was addressing community hunger. We organized food drives and collaborated with local food banks to ensure that those in need had access to nutritious meals. Hunger is a pervasive issue that affects overall health and well-being, and our efforts were aimed at alleviating this immediate need. By mobilizing volunteers and resources, we were able to distribute food packages to underfunded areas, ensuring that families had enough to eat. In addition to combating hunger, we also focused on supporting women in shelters. Many of these women are escaping situations of domestic violence or severe financial hardship, and they often arrive at shelters with little more than the clothes on their backs. Our chapter worked tirelessly to restock shelter supplies, providing essentials such as toiletries, clothing, bedding, and feminine hygiene products. This support not only helped to meet their immediate needs but also provided a sense of dignity and hope during their difficult times. An often overlooked but equally critical aspect of community support is the promotion of literacy. Proficient reading skills are fundamental for personal and professional success in modern society. Reading enhances cognitive development, improves communication skills, and opens doors to knowledge and opportunities. It is particularly important for children, as it sets the foundation for their future education and career prospects. Building on our previous successes, the Savannah chapter of NCNW is shifting its focus this year to address literacy rates among children. Recognizing the profound impact that literacy has on individual lives and the community at large, we have devised a comprehensive plan to promote reading within schools. Our goal is to help children see reading as a cool, fun, and necessary skill. We plan to organize reading sessions in local schools, where volunteers will read to students and engage them in interactive reading activities. These sessions aim to make reading enjoyable and to show children that it is a skill that can be both entertaining and essential. By fostering a love for reading at an early age, we hope to improve literacy rates and, consequently, the overall academic performance of students in our community. As the new fundraising chair, I am dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of our initiatives and the impact they have on the community. Fundraising is crucial to sustain and expand our programs. By organizing events, campaigns, and reaching out to potential donors, we aim to secure the financial support needed to continue our work. Moreover, we are committed to highlighting that even small contributions can bring about significant changes. Through community engagement and collaboration, we can collectively address pressing issues and drive positive change. The Savannah chapter of NCNW is proud of the strides we have made in addressing community hunger and supporting women in need. As we embark on our new initiative to improve literacy rates, we remain steadfast in our commitment to uplifting our community. Through targeted programs and effective fundraising, we aim to make reading an accessible and enjoyable skill for all children, setting them on a path to success. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact, demonstrating the power of community work in creating a better future for all.

Facing financial adversity while striving to complete my education has been a challenging yet defining journey. The inability to afford school has tested my resolve and resilience, but through sheer determination, community support, and relentless effort, I have managed to persevere. This essay details how I navigated these challenges and why receiving this scholarship is crucial for my continued success and ability to give back to my family and community. When I first realized that affording school would be a significant challenge, I turned to my community for support and guidance. Building strong relationships with professors, peers, and community members provided a network of encouragement and practical assistance. My professors offered mentorship and academic advice, helping me stay focused on my goals despite financial stress. Peers who faced similar challenges became a source of mutual support, sharing strategies and resource Despite my financial struggles, I remained committed to personal and professional growth by joining organizations such as the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Her Campus, and the Association of Pre-Law Students (APLES). These organizations provided platforms to develop leadership skills, build a supportive network, and advocate for causes I believe in. My involvement in these groups demonstrated my tenacity and relentless drive to succeed, even in the face of adversity. Immersing myself in my educational environment was another critical strategy. I actively participated in class discussions, joined study groups, and took advantage of campus resources like the library and tutoring centers. This engagement not only enhanced my learning experience but also connected me with others who could offer academic and emotional support. By fully integrating into my academic environment, I created a sense of belonging and purpose that motivated me to keep pushing forward. While I was able to afford last semester through unwavering determination and hard work, I now face the same financial hurdles. Coming from a middle-class family, I understand the importance of transitioning into a more successful class to better support my family and contribute to my community. This scholarship is crucial for my continued education and my ability to achieve my goal of becoming an entertainment attorney. By obtaining my degree, I can help musicians, especially those from marginalized communities, access fair representation and creative opportunities. My advice to others in similar situation is to be solution oriented. I would have drove myself crazy if I only thought about all the problems I had. Of course once recognizing one's issue devise a manageable plan to attack it head on. However this adversity has allowed me to mature and recognize though money is important, what is truly most valuable and precious is our time. During this period in my life, I have and still am working very hard for a brought future. I have found, it is crucial to enjoy your days, even in your hustle. Your mindset can easily make or break you, so make sure it's strong! Mentors are seriously the cheatcode and your success exists just beyond your comfort zone! My journey through financial adversity has been marked by determination, resilience, and a strong support network. By connecting with my community, seeking self-improvement, balancing multiple jobs, and actively participating in organizations, I have been able to navigate these challenges and continue my education. Receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate my financial burden but also empower me to achieve my goals and give back to my family and community. My tenacity and relentless pursuit of success in the face of adversity demonstrate my commitment to overcoming obstacles and making a positive impact in the world.

Growing up as the middle child in my family, I have developed a unique ability to balance guiding others while continually learning myself. This dual role as both a big sister and a little sister has profoundly influenced my approach to contributing to my family and community, instilling in me a sense of responsibility, empathy, and resilience. In my family, I actively contribute by being a reliable support system for my siblings. As a big sister, I take on the role of a mentor and guide for my younger siblings. I help them with their homework, offer advice on social issues, and provide emotional support during challenging times. My goal is to create a nurturing environment where they feel safe and empowered to pursue their interests and goals. On the other hand, being a little sister allows me to learn from my older siblings. I seek their guidance and wisdom, especially when faced with significant life decisions. This reciprocal relationship fosters a strong bond within our family, characterized by mutual respect and continuous personal growth. My dedication to community service is an extension of the values I have cultivated within my family. At my school's Student Development Center, I am committed to helping my peers achieve their academic and personal goals. I provide academic assistance, share resources, and organize workshops on essential skills such as time management and career planning. By fostering a supportive and resourceful environment, I aim to empower my peers to navigate their college careers successfully. Beyond the Student Development Center, I am actively involved in several community organizations. As an executive member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Aspiring Pre-Law Students (APLES), and Her Campus, I work to inspire and support others in various capacities. In these roles, I focus on promoting leadership, academic excellence, and community engagement. I organize events, lead initiatives, and create opportunities for others to get involved and make a difference. My experiences in my family and community have shaped my aspirations to attend law school and become an entertainment attorney. I am passionate about music and committed to helping musicians, particularly those who share my background, achieve success and access fair representation. The entertainment industry can be challenging to navigate, and I want to ensure that artists have the legal support and creative opportunities they need to thrive. By understanding the intricacies of entertainment law, I aim to advocate for their rights and contribute to a more equitable industry. Actively contributing to my family and community is at the core of who I am. By guiding my siblings, supporting my peers, and leading community initiatives, I strive to make a positive impact. My aspirations to attend law school and become an entertainment attorney are driven by a desire to advocate for others and create opportunities for success. As I continue on this path, I remain committed to fostering an environment of support, empowerment, and mutual respect, both within my family and the broader community.

Education has always been the cornerstone of progress and empowerment. By attending law school, I aspire to harness the power of legal knowledge to enact meaningful change and protect individuals at all stages of life. The law is a powerful tool that can be used to defend the rights of the vulnerable, ensure justice, and promote equality. My passion for this field is deeply intertwined with my love for music and my journey in Christianity, both of which have profoundly shaped my worldview and aspirations. Music, in its purest form, is a righteous art. It has the unparalleled ability to transcend barriers, unite people, and spread crucial messages. At around 18 weeks, we begin to hear our first sounds. From there music is a part of our humanity, society and cultures. Throughout history, music has been a catalyst for social change, from the civil rights movement to modern-day advocacy for various causes. It speaks to the soul and can inspire action where words alone might falter. As someone who deeply appreciates the power of music, I recognize its potential to support and amplify the voices of those who need it most. Growing up, my faith has been a guiding light. My father, a devoted priest, instilled in me the values of compassion, justice, and faith. Our household was one where the teachings of Christianity were not just preached but lived daily. From a young age, I learned the importance of living a life of service and integrity. The biblical verse, "For we live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7), has always resonated with me, reminding me that our journey is often guided by a deeper belief and trust in a higher purpose, even when the path ahead seems unclear. My journey in Christianity has been instrumental in shaping my desire to pursue a career in law. The teachings of Christ emphasize love, justice, and the defense of the oppressed. These are the principles that I wish to embody as a legal professional. By attending law school, I aim to develop the skills necessary to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves and to ensure that justice is accessible to all. Moreover, my dream of becoming an entertainment attorney is a perfect synthesis of my passions for music and law. The entertainment industry is a powerful platform that influences culture and public opinion. As an entertainment attorney, I would have the unique opportunity to support artists who use their craft to promote social justice and positive change. I envision a career where I can help protect the intellectual property and rights of creatives, ensuring they can continue to produce impactful work without fear of exploitation or injustice. In conclusion, my path to law school is driven by a deep-seated desire to protect and empower individuals through legal advocacy. With a foundation built on faith, inspired by music's unifying power, and guided by a commitment to justice, I am determined to use my legal education to make a tangible difference. As an entertainment attorney, I hope to bridge my passions, supporting artists and advocating for justice, ensuring that all voices can be heard and all stages of life are protected

As an African American girl with a deep passion for becoming an entertainment attorney, attending law school represents more than just an academic endeavor; it is a vital step towards advocating for my culture and making a meaningful impact on society. My journey towards this goal is deeply rooted in my desire to protect and promote African American voices in the entertainment industry, an arena where our stories have often been misrepresented and our contributions undervalued. Law school will equip me with the necessary tools to ensure that our cultural narratives are told with authenticity and respect, fostering a more inclusive and equitable industry. Growing up, I observed the pervasive influence of the entertainment industry on public perception and cultural identity. Yet, I also noted the frequent marginalization of African American creators and the appropriation of our culture without proper acknowledgment. These injustices fueled my determination to enter the legal field, where I could leverage my skills to advocate for fair representation and compensation. Law school is crucial for me because it will provide a rigorous education in legal principles, intellectual property rights, and contract negotiation, all of which are essential for an effective entertainment attorney. Attending law school will not only enhance my legal expertise but also bolster my confidence and credibility in a competitive industry. It will allow me to engage with diverse perspectives, challenge my understanding, and refine my ability to think critically and argue persuasively. These skills are indispensable for navigating the complexities of the entertainment world, where legal battles over rights and representations are commonplace. Moreover, law school will offer opportunities to connect with mentors and professionals who share my commitment to cultural advocacy, further enriching my professional journey. My aspiration to become an entertainment attorney is grounded in a broader vision of societal impact. By safeguarding the intellectual property of African American artists and creators, I aim to ensure that their work is respected and valued. This protection is not merely about financial compensation but about preserving the integrity of our cultural expressions and narratives. I plan to use my degree to advocate for policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion within the industry, challenging systemic biases and fostering a more equitable environment for all creators. Furthermore, I intend to leverage my position to mentor and support aspiring African American artists and legal professionals. Representation matters, and seeing someone who looks like them in a position of influence can inspire and empower young individuals to pursue their dreams. By sharing my knowledge and experiences, I hope to contribute to a new generation of confident and capable African American professionals who will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. In addition to my work within the entertainment industry, I am committed to using my legal skills to address broader social justice issues. Law school will provide me with a strong foundation in civil rights law, enabling me to advocate for policies that combat racial discrimination and promote equality. Whether through pro bono work, community organizing, or policy advocacy, I am determined to use my legal expertise to make a positive impact on society as a whole. In conclusion, attending law school is a pivotal step in my journey to becoming an entertainment attorney and a champion for African American culture. It will equip me with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to advocate effectively for fair representation and compensation in the entertainment industry. Beyond this, it will empower me to mentor future generations and address broader social justice issues, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society. My commitment to this path is unwavering, and I am eager to embark on this transformative journey, knowing that the impact of my work will resonate far beyond the courtroom.

My decision to attend an HBCU is deeply personal and strategic, aimed at reclaiming my cultural identity, fostering a love for my heritage, and preparing to advocate for my community. Savannah State University’s motto, "lux et Veritas" (light and truth), has shaped me into a knowledgeable, confident individual and a professional ready to impact the entertainment industry. This environment has deepened my appreciation for my culture and fortified my identity by teaching me about the struggles and triumphs of those who came before me. By embracing my roots and immersing myself in an environment that celebrates African American culture, I am taking a crucial step toward realizing my potential and contributing to the progression and enrichment of my community. Being black is about resilience and innovation, and knowing more of our culture than its chains. My ambition to become an entertainment attorney is fueled by a desire to protect and promote African American culture within the entertainment industry. This industry has historically marginalized African American voices, often misrepresenting or appropriating our culture without proper acknowledgment or respect. Upon graduating I intend to enroll in a law school either at Emory or UCLA. As an entertainment attorney, I aspire to be a guardian of our cultural assets, ensuring that our stories are told authentically and that our creators are fairly compensated and respected. Attending an HBCU has help me develop the cultural knowledge, confidence, and legal acumen necessary to navigate and influence this industry effectively.

As I reflect on my journey through college, I am reminded of the numerous challenges I have overcome, the relentless work ethic I have cultivated, and the ambitious spirit that drives me forward. Balancing full-time coursework with part-time jobs at Crumbl Cookie and Chipotle has been no easy feat. Yet, it is through these experiences that I have learned the true meaning of perseverance and dedication. Working while attending school full-time has taught me invaluable lessons in time management, resilience, and the importance of hard work. These experiences have not only supported me financially but have also equipped me with practical skills that complement my academic pursuits. Throughout our lives, we encounter individuals who play pivotal roles in shaping our aspirations, values, and paths. These guiding lights, often known as mentors, come in various forms, each unique in their own way, yet all sharing an unbreakable bond that transcends blood ties. Just like family, mentors enrich our lives, offering wisdom, encouragement, and support. While they may not always share the same surname, these mentors become an integral part of our personal growth journey, forming an extended family that stretches across time and experiences. For me, this woman has exhibited so much grace, generosity and creativity that I hope to live to be half as graceful as she is. The most inspiring person I know is my godmother, Ebony King. She has believed in me and pushed me in ways that I couldn’t even fathom and continues to push me past my own perceived potential in the gentlest loving way. In my adolescence, I watched her bravely quit her corporate job and pursue a career in real estate right after the market crash of 2008. She has always led a life a balancing hard work and play.Though she is a Georgia Southern alumna, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and entrepreneur, her humbleness and genuinely generous spirit is her superpower. She has taught me that in this journey of life, connections to other human beings are your most invaluable yet vital currency. Most of my fondest memories of her include sleepovers in which we would dance to our hearts desire, eat until our tummies were content, and made memories to carry with us like precious jewels. I have always known her in my life to be like a fairy godmother, in my younger years when I was convinced, she was. Being that my major is criminal justice, in pursuit of a law degree I aspire to become an entertainment attorney. I believe that music is the connector of all human life. My passion for music has always been like a second heartbeat. From what my mother says, I learned to dance along to the rhythm of music before I could walk. Though as I have grown and gathered life experience, I realized my love for the business of music. As I take the lessons I have learned from my god mom about respect, humbleness, and gratitude I will be able to navigate my professional life swiftly. Moreover, I am able to I truly believe that music is healing. That ability to heal people subconsciously must be protected and preserved for future generations to explore and appreciate. Therefore, developing new ways to ensure artist satisfaction while promoting companies' and corporations’ well-being is the ideal utopian community. Allowing for there to be a safe place to express oneself musically would benefit society as a whole.

Not in the sense of just adding degrees to my resume, but in order genuinely learn what the world had to offer and more. In 2022 my dad lost his job and my comfortable life as I knew it was forever to be changed. Though this financial shift happened the year I graduated high school, it felt like it couldn't have been a worse time. Particularly because I knew my younger sibling was to follow after me in the coming years. As the middle child, to a father who previously graduated from an HBCU, I knew had to ensure that my journey to college was smooth and not a further economic strain. Attending college was not only about career advancement, but legacy for me.Unfortunately due to intially fincial adversity, schoold did not seem like a feasible option. I wanted to make sure I could show my teachers, family, and many more who sowed into me watch thier seed grow. 1) Music. A five-letter word that has had a tremendous impact on the world. Music has been one of the gems of humanity allowing people to express themselves ultimately communicate with one another in ways beyond language barriers, tension, or strife. I truly do believe that music is healing. And that ability to heal people subconsciously must be protected and preserved for future generations to explore and appreciate. Therefore, developing new ways to ensure artist satisfaction while promoting companies' and corporations’ well-being is the ideal utopian community. It is my intention, aspiration, and goal to be an entertainment lawyer. Ultimately, I am interested in furthering my knowledge of cooperating businesses regarding the music industry. My dream is to work for an Atlanta-based record label handling company contracts and negotiating business deals. Though as I have grown and gathered life experience, I realized my love for the business of music. Being that now is the age of digital media it is more crucial than ever that one’s intellectual properties are secure and accounted for. The versatility that comes with representing record labels allows various voices from various communities to be amplified. The mentorship and generosity of Atlanta artists have always inspired me. The humbleness and respect that is exchanged between artists and the community is truly endearing. It is not uncommon to hear of a book bag drive, toy donation or debt payoff from large or upcoming artists to their supporters or fans. In my childhood, I remember being the recipient of a book bag giveaway by Atlanta music station V103. This completely altered the way I viewed the music industry from being this grand business that extorts everyone near it, to one that represents their community. Currently, in my academic career, I found that I was able to become so successful through the strength and support of my community. The feeling of belonging is hard to come by, therefore once one finds that special moment of relating to another being whether it be a song lyric, or finding out a distant relative has the same music taste, this experience has the power to strengthen bonds and change the world; one song at a time. 2) With an extra 24 hours, I would spend that time with my loved ones. Specially watching them experience their dreams or creating new bonds and memories with them, while experiencing new/old things together. 3) I feel the most creative when I am dancing to music. Since I was younger, I remember choreographing routines with my sister and friends at every sleepover like many adolescent girls do. As I have grown up through, I have found those little dance parties I have with myself in my room are some of the purest, most vulnerable, energetically rejuvenating, and authentic I feel. Through this seemingly silly movement of my body, I am able to gain clarity, and inspirations, and even spiritual clarity. Since this discover I have used this action as a way to decompress and level out my mental and physical health.

For many when they hear the word veganism, they associate it with dieting, or just simply unpleasant. However, I associate this dietary choice with oneness with the environment, balance, and true harmony for organs on the inside and out. As an African American woman, it is pertinent that I am aware of my health in light of studies done on the general health of African Americans in America. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention African Americans ages 18-49 are two times as likely to die from heart disease than whites. This fact makes a small eating habit life-changing. Furthermore, African American women are disproportionately affected by chronic health conditions such as obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown that a well-balanced vegan diet can help reduce the risk of these diseases by promoting weight loss, improving blood sugar levels, and lowering cholesterol. The negative notion behind vegan food as less flavorful or satisfying is completely false. There are rich traditions of plant-based foods within African American cuisine, such as collard greens, okra, and black-eyed peas. Embracing veganism can be an opportunity to revive and celebrate culinary traditions within the black community. I was raised eating meat so I know how hard it is mentally to begin switching over diets. However, I am in my transition period before fully adjusting to a vegan lifestyle. This means I often chose to incorporate vegan dishes into my diet regularly. This adjustment was not easy at first but, I know that it will improve my current quality of life. I was first inspired by Tabitha Brown on Tik Tok with her soul-warming videos. On my journey so far my favorite vegan dish I have had is from the Atlanta vegan restaurant Slutty Vegan. I love the way Chef Pinky Cole incorporates unimaginably flavorful foods such as bacon, cheese, and shrimp, then makes them vegan. Moreover, I have expanded my taste-testing conquest and have recently been eating vegan recipes of Indian food specifically Chana Masala. My dream career is to be an entertainment attorney working in the music industry on behalf of record labels. The musician's lifestyle and diet are notorious for being draining for the body. I want to challenge this stigma and be able to introduce hearty and healthy vegan options to those around my professional space. A plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provides essential nutrients that can support cognitive function and mental clarity. As a future attorney dealing with complex legal matters and contracts, having a sharp mind is crucial. This diet also helps others by allowing potential artists to tap into their creative spaces. By embracing a plant-based lifestyle, I can lead life-changing journeys towards better health, personal growth, and positive societal impact. Empowered by the transformative power of veganism, they can take charge of their well-being and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world for themselves and future generations. After all, health is wealth. Life is not about suffering from food-induced illnesses, so taking control of one's diet is the truest meaning of self-care. Because a healthy body can reach its full potential effortlessly. Empowered by the transformative power of veganism, I can take charge of my well-being and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world for myself and future generations.

Music for many is an ireelevant sound yet, it provides the soundtrack to our struggles, our successes, our pain, and our wins. The black community is no stranger to these topics yet one tool that has helped us through it is music. The hard work, passion, and intention it took to capture the soul of a community and diversify it through music is unmistakable and only could be produced with nothing less than blood, sweat and tears. This simple observation is why I love music so much. My dream is to work for an Atlanta-based record label handling company contracts and negotiating business deals. Though as I have grown and gathered life experience, I realized my love for the business of music. I truly do believe that music is healing. And that ability to heal people subconsciously must be protected and preserved for future generations to explore and appreciate. While in my indolence, I can recall my grandmother taking me to feed those who for less fortunate and homeless. Her grace and acknowledgment that some of those people we served were her co-workers, friends and neighbors installed in my principles of always reaching out to one’s community to uplift it. Being that now is the age of digital media it is more crucial than ever that one’s intellectual properties are secure and accounted for. The versatility that comes with representing record labels allows various voices from various communities to be amplified. I knew that ultimately that would be the mark I wanted to leave on the world, especially supporting the African American community. Most music is so deeply intertwined with black culture and people, thus making sure that record labels are not only offering fair deals, but ones ensure that wholistically compensated for their talents. Secondly, I can help address issues of social justice and fair treatment of black artists. Historically, black musicians have faced exploitation and unfair contracts, leading to economic disparity and limited control over their creative work. As an attorney with a deep understanding of the industry, I can negotiate better deals for black artists, ensuring they receive equitable compensation and retain more ownership of their music and intellectual property. This financial empowerment will help uplift black artists and enable them to invest in their communities, creating a positive ripple effect. Moreover, I aspire to actively engage in community outreach and education initiatives. Using my platform and connections within the entertainment industry, to organize workshops, mentorship programs, and seminars to educate aspiring black musicians and legal professionals about their rights, opportunities, and ways to succeed in the competitive field of entertainment law. This knowledge-sharing can create a more level playing field and inspire future generations to pursue careers in the music industry. Beyond the music labels, I can also advocate for the support and promotion of black artists and cultural events. By fostering collaborations between artists, labels, and community organizations, I can help curate music showcases, festivals, and cultural events that celebrate the rich artistic heritage of the black community. These events not only provide exposure to talented black musicians but also help strengthen community bonds and promote a sense of pride in cultural identity. Growing up as a young black woman in America I had always heard the phrase "no one got us, like we got us" and I always wanted in on this unspoken sisterly support. Not only did I subscribe to the notion I wanted to live by it in providing a sense of relief. With the help of this investment, I would be able to continue on my journey debt free thus finically allowing me to give back to my community. Most importantly though, my greatest goal is to achieve graduating Magnum Cum Laude. This scholarship would alleviate some of the financial burden associated with attending college. Though I am ready willing and enthusiastic about versifying myself I have to make sure I am financially able to do so. My main adversity is making sure I can afford to fulfill my dream of attending Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia along with my current undergrad expenses. With this law degree, I intended to work for one of my favorite music record labels, Quality Control. From this scholarship, I would be able to effortlessly afford my books for my Intro to Criminal Justice class at Savannah State. Moreover, a strong foundation yields a sturdy building, thus the investment of this scholarship will be worthwhile and a contribution to the foundation of my future successful career and would be accepted with immense gratitude.

The album '1989' holds an immense amount of nostalgia for me. Specifically, track 6 entitled Shake It Off. I can remember my earliest memory of this song playing at my fourth-grade graduation ceremony. My classmates and I wiggled our little bodies until all the excitement left them and we were exhausted. My favorite part of the song was when Taylor sang " I'm lightning on my feet". I had a meticulous little choreography at the time of vigorously tapping my feet to make my light-up sketchers twinkle, in order to live the lyrics. Ever since I was a kid music has been my favorite part of life. As I have grown older now and the light-up sketcher doesn't fit my era of life anymore I've moved on to sparkly Crocs. Just as this song describes, one must shake off the trials and tribulations of life and not forget just to have fun. Entering into my young adulthood, now you may be thinking what's the big deal? Why is this song so impactful to me? Because the themes discussed in Taylor Swift's song “Shake it off” are timeless. So time and time again as I am faced with the struggles and strife of adulthood, and the expectations that come with being a woman in 2023 I always think back to little fourth-grade me stomping in her sketchers without a care in the world; In perfect tune with the lyrics of Taylor’s song I quite literally have “this music in my mind saying it’s gonna be alright”. The song “Shake it off” keeps me propelling forward through any obstacle that life throws at me and has led me to accomplish goals that without the song I don’t know that I would have done, instead maybe giving up and feeling defeated by the pressures of my own self-doubt, but the mantras I developed through the song kept me moving, kept me focused, and allowed me to thrive at times when it felt like the whole world was against me. During times in my life when I was at my lowest I took inspiration from the great Taylor Swift, I let her words be my compass, and the song “Shake it off” was my true north. It was the point of reference I always looked back to and I am ever grateful to Taylor for teaching me that people are always going to have something to say, and you can’t satisfy everyone therefore you shouldn’t let the pressure get to you instead just shake it off.

As the middle child, to a father who previously graduated from an HBCU, I knew had to ensure that my journey to college was smooth and not a further economic strain. Attending college was not only about career advancement, but a legacy for me. Unfortunately due to initial financial adversity, the school did not seem like a feasible option. I wanted to make sure I could show my teachers, family, and many more who sowed into me could watch their seed grow. Here is where my relentless drive to seek higher education and pursue my passion for attending law school was born. My main adversity is making sure I can afford to fulfill my dream of attending Emory Law School in Atlanta, Georgia. With this law degree, I would hopefully be able to work for one of my favorite music record labels, Quality Control.

1) The most important matter in my life would be to authentically maintain excellent relationships and leave a positive disposition among others while striving to live rather than survive. In my adolescence, I was always taught that it isn't what you do that matters but how you make others feel. At the end of the day we all share this human experience, it might as well be pleasant. This partially fueled my desire to enter the entertainment business legally. I have always observed how music has connected people in uniquely beautiful and I've always wanted to have a part in protecting it. My dream is to work for an Atlanta-based record label handling company contracts and negotiating business deals. Though as I have grown and gathered life experience, I realized my love for the business of music. I truly do believe that music is healing. Therefore, developing new ways to ensure artist satisfaction while promoting companies' and corporations’ well-being is the ideal utopian community. 2) Though I have not applied to law school yet, I am preparing myself by engaging in my community and seeing where real and careful attention is needed. The most important lesson I have learned from my educators has been to always seek connection. Whether that be with the material academic material or other beings. By doing so the work that needs to be done is not only personalized but it develops the purpose of doing it in the first place. I was told that by my professor in our Freshman experience class, and I held those words near and dear to me ever since. This way I would be able to diversify my skill set multi-culturally. Opening doors and providing opportunities for others is truly what community is about. Currently, in my academic career, I found that I was able to become so successful through the strength and support of my community. The feeling of belonging is hard to come by, therefore once one finds that special moment of relating to a song lyric or finding out a distant relative has the same music taste, this experience has the power to strengthen bonds. As a future entertainment lawyer, I understand what a crucial role I would play in the copyright approval, contract drafting, and organization aspect of the business. Yet, my dearest intrinsic value that ignites my passion for this career is to help establish a flourishing and legally sound environment for a record label company to allow artists to have fair and cohesive relationships with the record company. Music in its entirety serves every community worldwide. This in turn would benefit my community by allowing artists to continue creating music to heal and uplift people in my community. Being that now is the age of digital media it is more crucial than ever that one’s intellectual properties are secure and accounted for. The versatility that comes with representing record labels allows various voices from various communities to be uplifted and amplified.

One of the most important aspects of truly achieving positivity is one’s ability to be fully Immersed in their community. For most, it is either way too difficult or too easy to get swept up in their community. Interconnectivity, inclusivity and impact define community for me. With these attributes, one is able to either positively or negatively impact a community. The special thing about community is the way it can be established effortlessly anywhere. Thus, an interconnected, inclusive, and impactful individual is not only an innately great citizen but a spectacular citizen within their community and has a greater impact on the world. Beginning with interconnectivity essentially provides the foundation of a strong community. Achieving this skill requires authentic empathy and compassion. For most this is natural, but others need to be guided. Determining how one is connected to the people surrounding them is the first and most important step. When seeking common ground, you inevitably learn how you and your neighbor aren’t so different. Through this is how true community is established. Moving down to Savannah, Georgia from Atlanta, Georgia was a significant change for me. The whole freshman first-semester college experience itself can definitely be overwhelming. Though this change was drastic from my previous childhood life as it is for most, I deeply commend the way my Student Orientation Leaders (SOL) composed of upper-classmen peers introduced us to campus. I knew I was going to prevail in establishing a place in the community through their leadership and guidance. From food trucks, group games and parties, I can say I was well-acclimated to campus after that. All due to the hard work of students who not only recognized how important it is but how connecting the student body can make all of the difference. Specifically, I can recall we played a game of “Whose Who?”, which consisted of finding someone with your same name. Though it might sound silly it allowed our class to intermingle and learn about each other to ultimately establish a connection. Furthermore, allowing us to establish a sense of community amongst people we would have considered strangers. Needless to say, without the thoughtfulness of the SOLs organization our time would have been way duller. Thus, through their commitment to finding how our new freshman student community connects various bonds have been established. I aspire to continue to implement this by joining this institution. In light of the supreme court's regressive ruling on affirmative action, it is now more crucial than ever to not only enhance but truly nurture the HBCU experience for myself and others. I plan on joining the SOLs organization, to cultivate an inclusive, positive, empowering space for black-identifying students in a country where the odds are stackedx against them. Though it might be a small impact it will be worthwhile, and I am more than ready to lead the way.

For as long as I could remember I aspired to attend and graduate college when I grew up. Here is where my relientless drive to seek higher education and pursue my passioon attending law school was born. Whether that be academically the material I am attempting to absorb, or other beings who I am sharing the human experience with. By doing so the work of education that needs to be done is not only personalized but it develops the purpose of doing it in the first place. I was introduced to this philosophy by my professor in our Freshman experience class, to which I held those words near and dear to me. When embracing the "forever student" mentallty not is one more open minded but, You are able to grasp difficult concept in order to enhance the developed solutions. It is my intention, aspiration, and goal to be an entertainment lawyer. With my passion for music and being practical, I found this career choice to be my sweet spot. Though I would not be a traditional teacher, I would be assisting individuals in learning their intellectual property rights. Up until this point, all of my teachers have essentially been my helping hand. They have not only made my life dream and career goal attainable but also placed getting there in digestible unintimidating steps. In hindsight, this may seem like a small action but it truly has been the greatest gift in beginning my career and adult life. By working in the entertainmnet indusrty I would be able to provide a safe and legally sound enviorment to help aid musical creatiuves in prodcuing art for all of the world to enjoy. After all music, compassion, and education heals and helps all.

What's Love Got to Do With It? For most people when they think of this movie, they remember the beautiful life of the late Tina Turner. However, for me, this film was the first time I had ever seen psychological and physical abuse in a romantic relationship. The imagery of abusive relationships continued in my adolescence, as my favorite show was not Barney, nor Sesame Street, but Law and Order. Looking back I notice how I was consistently shown and made aware of unhealthy romantic relationships. Due to this education, I was determined to be able to help others especially african american women know that they deserved healthy and safe relationships. Unfortunately, television and film would not be my only encounter with the dark topic. Standing five feet tall and nine years older than me, my eldest sister was so invincible to me. Her mortality and true fragileness struck me the night she came home with unexplainable bruises and a gash on her body. Typically a symbol of grace and aspiration for me, that night her body seemed to finally personify the trauma she held so tightly in secret. I experienced my first heartbreak that night too, even as a child I knew something was disturbing when she said she would return to talk to him tomorrow. Little did I know I had just witnessed her breaking point, in this moment of vulnerability she found strength. Luckily she was going to attempt a dangerous and slightly scary act. She went and ended their relationship. Though she may not be in the relationship and her scars have healed, the memory of that low point lingers. In the wake of my experience, I decided that I would pursue a career in law, currently studying criminal justice as an undergraduate at an HBCU. I wanted to make sure the women who were hurt in any way had the help they deserved. Growing up as a young black woman in America I had always heard the phrase "no one got us, like we got us" and I always wanted in on this unspoken sisterly support. Not only did I subscribe to the notion I wanted to live by it in providing a sense of relief. Even if I couldn't stop the abuse completely. In our progressive society, there is still a stigma surrounding abuse victims. Especially within the black community victims are much less talked to about the abuse since their mere existence juxtaposes society's stereotype of black women. I plan to start my own practice to legally help abused victims in Atlanta Georgia, seek justice. I have come to learn that with true support, the correct environment, and education about the options, victims can be left feeling more empowered. With this effort, I can do my dudilliengce in removing any shameful stigma from relationship abuse victims of African American women.

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia as an African American woman, has given me a unique set of experiences. Thus, earning itself a name for modern entertainment as well as becoming a notoriously thriving music mecca for various forms of the entertainment industry. My passion for music has always been like a second heartbeat. I used to accredit this innate interest to my ability to easily learn a song and sing it word for word as if I wrote it. From what my mother says, I learned to dance along to the rhythm of music before I could walk. Though as I have grown and gathered life experience, I realized my love for the business of music. I truly believe that music is healing. The music itself is known to be a captivating powerhouse for more subtle and holistic benefits. For instance, music aids in producing small spurts of dopamine allowing our brains to improve our mood, regulate our emotions, enhance productivity and concentration, trigger memories and occasionally help improve the quality of sleep. In supporting the community our community will support us. As an entertainment attorney, my direct connection with the community isn’t traditionally connected. The best way to induce community would be through music. To my current knowledge and understanding many artists have struggled with their record companies to know, establish and exercise their own legal rights. Through my studies and dedication, I aspire to bridge that gap of confusion and unfamiliarity for both the artist and the record label. With intimidation limited and clarity brought forth, more people would be able to pursue their passion and live out their dreams. Being that music is a media in which can be appreciated through various comminutes and cultures of people I value and hold this medium to be preserved and protected. Ultimately, I want to expand my practices to a more international level for a few years. This way I would be able to diversify my skill set multi-culturally. Opening doors and providing opportunities for others is truly what community is about. Currently, in my academic career, I found that I was able to become so successful through the strength and support of my community. Many people with access to the internet inevitably encounter one group of individuals. Financial advisors or more commonly known as “Finance Bros”. For the most part, I had no earthly idea what the substance of their conversions had relevance to me. I just knew they often talked on podcasts and demographically had no similarities to me, or so I thought. My most recent read was the book Black Girl Finance by Selina Flavius. Since I have torn down limiting beliefs of money that lingered with me subconsciously. I picked up this book in order to get a better grasp on what money management is from the perspective of people who looked like me. The mere fact that I picked this book up was liberating in itself. While reading I discovered how proper budgeting is the transformative magical potion that leads to financial success and prosperity. Being a college student and fairly young I wanted to take control of my money management in order to be able to attain my future goals such as going to law school, with great financial stance and peace of mind. After my first year of college, I was in financial turmoil and in danger of not being able to continue my dreams of education due to a lack of financing. By reading this booking and applying the methods, and truly soaking up the knowledge I am able to be smarter with my money, as I continue to accumulate it. In my earliest adolescence memory, I can recall being told that reading is fundamental, and as I have continued to grow and gain experience I can attest to the trueness of this statement. There is no secret that obtaining knowledgeable information by reading is not only vital, but it allows one to truly come face to face with text. Committing to the action of reading, which slightly forces one’s mind to shake hands with the material one is trying to absorb. This idea is what I believe truly helped me allow myself to digest previously foreign ideas of finance. Mentally I have learned that the only obstacle stopping me from achieving financial freedom was my financial discipline, mindset, and intentional action. Since reading this book I have been able to begin to properly build my savings in preparation for the fall 2023 semester, yet with the help of this scholarship I would be able to continue to pursue my passions and dream of graduating college and obtaining my degree debt free.
