History. One word that has shaped my life in profound ways. From a young age, I have been captivated by the stories, events, and people that have come before us. History is more than just a collection of dates and facts—it is the story of who we are and how we got here. My love for history has been a constant throughout my life, and it has influenced both my personal and academic pursuits. From visiting National Military Parks to diving into my family tree, I knew early on that history was my passion and the field I wanted to pursue. One of the most influential places that sparked my love for history was Gettysburg National Military Park. As a child, I visited the park many times and spent hours absorbing the stories shared by park rangers and tour guides. The more I learned, the deeper my connection to the site became. The historical significance of Gettysburg—its role in the Civil War, the lives lost, and the impact it had on shaping our nation—became a passion that only grew over time. I have been fortunate enough to return to Gettysburg numerous times, each visit deepening my appreciation and understanding of the history that transpired there. These experiences led me to embark on independent research projects focused on the American Civil War, particularly Gettysburg, allowing me to further explore the intricate details of the events that took place there. Additionally, my interest in history extends beyond just the well-known historical sites. I have also explored my own family history, researching the lives of my ancestors and uncovering their experiences. This personal connection to history has made the past come alive in a way that feels meaningful and real. I believe that understanding history is more powerful when you find a personal connection to it, as it allows you to appreciate the struggles and triumphs of those who came before you. This desire to connect with history is one of the driving forces behind my aspiration to share that knowledge with others. Given my deep passion for history and my desire to protect and preserve historical sites, my goal is to become a Law Enforcement Park Ranger with the National Park Service. I see this role as the perfect way to combine my love for history with my commitment to preserving and sharing it. As a park ranger, I would not only protect the physical lands where history unfolded but also educate visitors, ensuring that the history of these places is understood and remembered. It is vital to safeguard historical sites so that future generations can experience them and learn from the past. As a ranger, I would take on the responsibility of sharing accurate and meaningful information, offering visitors the chance to connect with history in a personal and impactful way. I have always strived to do proper research and provide accurate information, and I believe this dedication to truth and authenticity will be essential in my future career. Whether through guided tours or educational programs, my goal is to help others appreciate the significance of historical sites like Gettysburg. I want to ensure that the stories of those who lived and died there are never forgotten and that their sacrifices continue to inspire future generations. By combining my love for history with my commitment to protecting and educating, I hope to make a meaningful impact in my future career as a Law Enforcement Park Ranger.
