Bio

From the roar of engines at a Formula One Grand Prix to the intensity of an NFL playoff game, sports have always been more than just entertainment to me, they are stories waiting to be told. My passion for sports journalism isn’t just about statistics and scores; it’s about capturing the emotions, strategies, and personalities that make each competition unique. That passion and my deep-rooted love for writing have shaped my goal of becoming a journalist specializing in motorsports, the NFL, and Formula One. Growing up in the South, I was surrounded by a culture that breathes football. Friday night lights, passionate rivalries, and the communal bond of sports were constants in my life. While I appreciated this environment, I found myself drawn to the broader world of sports beyond my region. My fascination with Formula One, in particular, set me apart from many of my peers. I was captivated by the precision of a pit stop, the engineering brilliance behind every car, and the high-stakes strategy that unfolds in each race. This interest led me to dive deeper into sports media, analyzing race data, reading driver interviews, and following journalists who brought these events to life through their reporting. To gain experience, I began writing for my high school newspaper, the Blue and Gold. Whether it was opinion pieces about Formula One or about High School Sports, I was so deeply engaged. I also took an interest in interviewing, aiming to go beyond the surface-level questions to uncover the motivations and challenges athletes face.

Throughout high school, I dedicated my time to making a meaningful impact in my community, and I plan to carry this passion forward after college. I spent many weekends and breaks working in my community. During my sophomore year, I earned the position of Vice President and Marketing Leader of the Spruill Center for the Arts Teen Council. I earned this position because of my commitment to the organization. I was recommended by the art teachers whom I helped over the summer and other employees of the company. I have helped bring people together through art, planning major events, and ensuring they reach the community through marketing efforts. In addition to working behind the scenes, I spent my summers volunteering at Spruill’s summer camp has allowed me to support young artists, fostering creativity in the next generation. I got to work hands-on with kids of all ages. Beyond the arts, I have worked to make a difference in the lives of others through service. At school, I am a club leader of Share the Journey. In Share the Journey, I have helped organize events like the Global Fair and Pilgrimage Walk. The Global Fair is an event hosted at my school that allows students to share their ethnic backgrounds with the entire school. The money raised from this event goes to a local organization that supplies after-school programs for immigrants and refugees. The Pilgrimage Walk is another event that is organized outside of school. This event invites students from local schools to go on a walk from a local church to a spring market hosted by local refugee and immigrant businesses. The walk also includes stops along the way where people who were refugees have a chance to share their stories. The walk and the fair help raise awareness and funds for refugee and immigrant organizations in Atlanta. Other activities I am a part of are an organization called Meals By Grace, Christopher League, and Books for Africa. For Meals By Grace, I help by delivering meals to local unserved families. Christopher League is an event where, on a Saturday morning, I get to play baseball with kids who have disabilities. Books for Africa deals with sorting books that go to schools in Africa that cannot afford to buy new books. I have spent hours sorting and packaging books for those schools. All of these organizations and clubs reinforced my commitment to service and giving back. Seeing the faces of people that I have had a positive impact on has truly reinforced my belief in community service. After college, I plan to use my passion for journalism to continue making a difference. I want to give a voice to underrepresented communities in sports, highlighting inspiring stories that often go unnoticed. Whether it’s covering athletes with disabilities, shedding light on diversity in motorsports, or advocating for equal opportunities in sports journalism, I hope to use my platform to inform, inspire, and create positive change. What I have learned from being a part of many different organizations and clubs is that no matter what, an impact is being made. I hope to bring my involvement into college and post college to continue to make an impact. I have seen first-hand the impact that is made, and I hope to continue to share it. Just as I have worked to strengthen my local community, I plan to use my career to make a broader impact.
