Bio

I am determined to pursue a career in veterinary sciences, despite being the first person in my family to attend college. I am passionate about working with large farm animals and have decided to specialize in this field. I am excited to continue my education in veterinary school, but finances are tight for me. Therefore, I would be grateful for any assistance you can provide to support me in achieving my dream of becoming the best farm vet in the country. As a first-generation college student, it is challenging to access resources and opportunities. If I am fortunate enough to receive scholarships, it will motivate me to continue my education and make a difference in the world.

'Girls Meet Jessie' Riley Matthews and Maya Hart were determined to explore New York City, despite Riley's parents' refusal to let them go alone. Confident in their ability to take care of themselves, the girls were undeterred. At the train station, they met the Ross family, which comprised Emma, Zuri, Ravi, Luke, and their nanny, Jessie Prescott. Jessie kindly invited the girls to join her and the Ross family, realizing that they were traveling alone. Together, they explored the city, and Jessie ensured that the girls were safe and secure throughout their journey. Jessie also shared a valuable lesson she learned when she was their age - that having a parent around to look after them isn't wrong. She emphasized that Riley's parents were concerned for her safety because they love her, and bad things can happen if she travels on her own at her age. Meanwhile, Riley's parents, Corey and Topanga, became aware that Riley had defied their wishes and actively searched for their daughter around New York City. While Corey and Topanga looked for their adolescent daughter, Jessie kept Riley and Maya with her to ensure that nothing bad happened to the girls. During their time together, Riley and Maya interacted with the four Ross children: Emma, Zuri, Ravi, and Luke. Emma introduced Riley and Maya to fashion and the latest gossip from her side of New York. Luke flirted with the girls, Ravi talked about his pet lizard, Mrs. Kipling, and Zuri played with Riley and her imaginary friend, Millie the Mermaid. At the end of the day, Corey and Topanga found their daughter in a park with the Ross family. They scolded Riley for defying their instructions and expressed their concerns about what might have happened if they had not found her. However, Riley was confident in her decision to explore the city on her own and was proud of herself for taking a chance with her friend. She now knows that parents place these rules to protect their children because they love them and wouldn't want anything to happen to them. Riley thanked Jessie for being there for her and her friend, and they all parted ways. The girls went back to Riley's apartment where Riley apologized to her parents for disobeying their instructions and understands now that she shouldn't run off like that. She then apologized to Maya for involving her in this. Corey and Topanga appreciated her apology and were thankful she understood the seriousness of what she had done. The episode ended.

My life has never been easy, yet that seems to be a common theme. When I was a little girl, I was a victim of Domestic Violence, emotional abuse and mental abuse, and discrimination for being autistic, and I still am. The society we live in is harsh to those of differences whether that may be physically shown through disorders, or mentally through things like anxiety or depression. Growing up with these scars makes me afraid, but not without hope. I am a healing process in the making, for such is the burden of trauma. But, one thing I learned while in therapy is 'Surviving through trauma, and not giving up shows that you are not without faith in a future that you create'. The future I envision is one of equality for people like me. Where people are understanding of people with unique gifts that makes us special, not freaks. Where people are educated on differences, and willing to empathize with us. Instead of judging us. And I am willing to do whatever it takes to create this future. I've been burned, ridiculed, and judged all my life by people who were not willing to put aside judgement before. So, I can handle more. My plan to create this future is simple. I am going to go to school, and get my education. I'm going to become a BCBA, a person who creates programs to help autistic people integrate into society with all the tools and supports they need to thrive. Starting with the school system who treated me like a child who was lesser than the others. My first program I have started to plan is going to be called 'Playdate'. Playdate will be a program where kindergarten children will spend 45 minutes a day playing with children with autism or other unique gifts to bond and understand them. This will hopefully teach children at a young age that not everyone is the same, and that it is okay to be different. And, when it is proven successful. I will move on the higher grade levels with more advance levels of complexity. But, that's down the road ahead. I first have to get my education to prove that I am and will always be capable of doing this. The road ahead will not be easy, but nothing worth doing is every easy. With my scars as my badges of honor. I will prove that you can be great despite what you have lived through, and I will not stop until my envisioned future is my reality set in stone.
