Greetings, my name is Madyson Arbogast. I am a senior at King George High School, I am graduating in December. I am a lower-income student, I have overcome trials and tribulations living in a single-parent household due to this being the case I am a hard-working, outgoing, and outstanding student who puts my best foot forward every day and into everything I do. Through this experience, I have learned perseverance and this is a trait that will help me throughout life and my career. I plan to attend Rappahannock Community College in January. I earned my Certified Nursing Assistant License as a junior in high school. As a child, when my sister and I would play doctor I would always want to be the nurse. For as long as I can remember I have always been intrigued by the possibility of making the world a better place. As Gandhi said, "be the change in the world you wish to see." I want to make a change in the world through my career. I also enjoy that in my career every day is something different. Now that I am older I realized my obsession with nursing started with my favorite nurse Brandy, she works at my Pediatricians office. She is kind, compassionate, and very outgoing. She is the kind of nurse I would want to embody in my own career. My plan for the future is to become a Registered Nurse. By doing so I will be able to help others by hopefully making a change in my community. My goal in being a nurse is to make others feel wanted. Through my experience in clinicals in my nurse's aid course, I was able to make others feel wanted. At the facility where I was doing clinicals they were dealing with the Covid outbreak, understaffed, and overworked which caused them to be impatient, unfriendly, and unable to be compassionate toward the residents. One of my residents was feeling unwanted and down, just by talking and listening to how they were feeling, I made them feel like they were wanted. Looking back now on this experience I learned that it is not always about medically taking care of them but also listening. In the future, I hope to implement these values and goals into my nursing career. By doing so I can make a positive impact on the world. Thank you for your time and consideration.
