Hello! My name is Madison Zapata and I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. I have obtained my Bachelor's Degree in History with a minor in Arts Management with a Gallery and Museum Studies Emphasis. To continue my education, I am a current Master's degree student in the Museum Studies Graduate Program at Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis.
At the end of my education, I hope to obtain a Master's Degree in Museum Studies and start my career as a museum curator. As a first-generation college student, my passion since my early years in high school is to pursue a career in museum curatorship.
My future educational and career goals are to become a museum curator with the intention of bringing communities from all different diverse backgrounds together to witness history. I aspire to educate the public and community by utilizing various types of engagement that will help others gain knowledge and awareness. More specifically, my career and life goals strive for the importance of representing culture, diversity, and inclusion with an exploration into new relationships and communications. Diversity and inclusion remain my top philosophy as I am a part of the Latinx community.
Remaining focused on my studies and the desire to pursue my education to become a museum curator has helped me grow into the woman I am today. Above all, I aspire to create a change within this world for many generations to come.

Bold Motivation Scholarship
The goals for the future both consist of my educational/career goals as I desire to become a museum curator with the intention of bringing communities from all different diverse backgrounds together to witness history. My future educational goals I aspire to obtain are the opportunity to grow personally and professionally within the museum field. Pursuing a degree in museum studies has been at the forefront of my overall educational goal since I started my undergraduate career at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. The desire to further my education has been attributed to the experiences and goals that I have gained throughout these past years. Both the career and educational goals that I aspire for are educating the public and community with various types of engagement that will gear others to gain knowledge, awareness, and personal experiences. More specifically, my career and life goals strive on the importance of representing culture, diversity, and inclusion with an exploration into new relationships, communications, and broadening my vision and others' vision of life. As I come from an ethnic background, my goals strive towards diversity and inclusion between all experiences and perspectives which remains admired and above all, respected within my educational, career, and life goals. Moreover, my goals constantly push me to be the best version of myself with motivation to evolve as a student and future member of the professional museum field. Becoming a museum curator allows my goals to be delivered as an essential component in bridging the gaps between communities that might not have experienced the world's history. My goals have the potential to impact the world positively by allowing museums to establish an understanding of the past that also presents future possibilities
Bold Books Scholarship
I fall deeply in love with books. I imagine what the characters would like like with hair and eye color, their height and weight. Even to the point of imagining what the characters' facial expressions look like when they are happy, sad, angry, frightened, etc. The connection I make with books creates more inspirations within my daily life. The most inspiring book that I have read is The Power by Naomi Alderman. The Power is a gender-twisting dystopian novel that depicts scientific fiction as women are able to precure electric jolts from their body, making them the dominant sex. The electric jolts are a way for the women of the novel to become in control of their bodies and how they express it. Alderman insists on a dystopian world with ambitious and provocative elements that put me to the edge of my seat every time I opened the book. The Power remains an inspiration to me because I am a woman that has succumbed to the gender norms of the 21st century. While reading this novel, I was able to imagine myself as a powerful, capable, and influential woman. I related to the characters of this book on more levels than any other book I have read before. Naomi Alderman created a masterpiece that represents the oppression that women have endured for many years.

Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
My simple pleasures are just that, simple. I have found that I don't need much to fulfill my happiness. More importantly, I enjoy the simple pleasures that occur throughout my life and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
The simple pleasures I am willing to share with others is my love for reading, painting, kayaking, hiking, and camping. Finding these simple pleasures has helped my happiness and my desire to do something more with my life. These simple pleasures were discovered by trial and error, nonetheless, I have grown to love and desire the happiness that comes with each.
But there are a few simple pleasures that don't involve any sort of hobbies or interests. I have a few "guilty" simple pleasures that are what truly make me the happiest.
It could be the first glimpse of sunshine that I receive in the morning. Or the last bit of sun I see at dusk when the sky shows blues, purples, oranges, reds, yellows, and everything else in between.
How the moon and stars light up the sky during the night hours. Or remembering the first shooting star I saw with my very own eyes.
It could be that first sip of coffee I take in the morning. The way a strawberry bursts into my mouth when I first bite into it. Or when any of my favorite foods first hit my taste buds for that matter.
Finding that one cozy spot to sit in and the way my body falls right into its place. How I absolutely love the way laundry smells when it immediately comes out of the dryer.
The simple pleasures experienced by only me are there to remind myself to enjoy the simple things out of life and to never miss a moment of that happiness.
Bold Longevity Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have experienced problems with my physical and mental health. These experiences became more heightened when I first started college as it was a complete life change. I moved out on my own, found a job, and pursued my education. I knew I wasn't living a healthy life as my body showed signs of stress, overeating, weight gain, and the overall feeling of unhappiness. These levels of unhealthiness were continuously fluctuating and I could not seem to grab hold of how I wanted to live my life.
It wasn't until I got out of a 3-year relationship that I finally was able to focus on myself and how I wanted to live my life. I eliminated all the negative elements that affect my health (including that relationship) and I started focusing on the good. To live a healthy life, one has to be determined enough to cross that finish line. There are many days throughout my journey that I wanted to give up and quit everything I have worked for. However, I found ways to manage my health that also affects my happiness in the best way possible.
Every morning I wake up and follow the same routine that helps me live my long and healthy life. While enjoying my morning coffee, I write in my 5-minute journal with goals and aspirations I want to achieve that day. The rest of the day consists of attending classes, going to work, and making time for any sort of physical activity which is either going to the gym, hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. as there isn't a day out of the week where I am not active. Throughout my health journey, I have found what works best for me and what it takes to live a long and healthy life.
I Am Third Scholarship
To begin, my life goals come before my educational goals as I chose to put my happiness in front of anything else. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be the person I am today without the educational path I have chosen for myself. I have but one simple life goal: to live my life to its fullest potential. Whether that be with my significant other, my family, hobbies, interests, etc., I never want anything to hold me back from experiencing life. My life goals morph into my educational/career goals as I desire to become a museum curator with the intention of bringing communities from all different diverse backgrounds together to witness history. Moreover, the educational objectives that I aspire to obtain are the opportunity to grow personally and professionally within the museum field. Pursuing a degree in museum studies has been at the forefront of my overall educational goal since I started my undergraduate career at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. The desire to further my education has been attributed to the experiences and goals that I have gained throughout these past years. The career and life objectives that I aspire for are educating the public and community with various types of engagement that will gear others to gain knowledge, awareness, and personal experiences. More specifically, my career and life goals strive on the importance of representing culture, diversity, and inclusion with an exploration into new relationships, communications, and broadening my vision and others' vision of life. Collaboration with others have remained at the front of my education, career, and life goals because it creates new relationships but also enhances pre-existing relationships as well. As I come from an ethnic background, my why strives toward diversity and inclusion between all experiences and perspectives which remains admired and above all, respected within my educational, career, and life goals. The why that constantly pushes me to be the best version of myself is created by my own desire to evolve as a student, future member of the professional museum field, and overall a human who does not take anything for granted. My vision that has the potential to impact the world positively in the future lie with the educational path I decided to take on. Becoming a museum curator enables me to deliver an essential component in bridging the gaps between communities that might not have experienced the world's history. My vision impacts the world positively by allowing museums to establish an understanding of the past that presents future possibilities. Museums hold the key to unlocking multiple perspectives and experiences in developing one’s self in which I have the power to control my why.
Bold Growth Mindset Scholarship
In order to help myself in keeping a growth mindset, I stay focused on the goals I aspire to achieve. Every morning when I wake up, I follow the same routine that coincides with progressing my growth mindset. I make my bed, brew a cup of coffee, and write in my 5-minute journal with my goals and aspirations for the day ahead of me. By going through my life, one day at a time, it allows me to assess and take advantage of what life has to offer. With assessing my days, I am able to grow personally and professionally by reviewing the challenges and setbacks that also occur throughout my life. Furthermore, a growth mindset allows me to become successful with my career and personal life as the desire to live my life to the fullest potential remains at the forefront of my mind. Keeping a growth mindset is one of the hardest aspects to achieve as it is very easy to fall into a fixed mindset. I remind myself that challenges can be turned into opportunities and being able to reflect on the actions or conversations I had throughout the day helps stay out of a fixed mindset. There is no harm in processing and reflecting on one's actions, failures, challenges, or opportunities that one may experience throughout their life which is how I maintain my growth mindset.
