Volleyball has shaped me into a resilient, hardworking, and coachable athlete who thrives in competitive environments. As a team captain and four-year varsity player, I take pride in my leadership, pushing myself and my teammates to be our best. Playing at an elite club level has further strengthened my skills, mental toughness, and ability to perform under pressure. Academically, I hold myself to the same high standard. I plan to pursue a degree in forensic science with an associate’s in business, driven by my love for problem-solving and critical thinking. What makes me a strong scholarship candidate is my unwavering commitment to excellence. I embrace challenges, seek continuous improvement, and make extra effort to grow—whether through additional training, film studies, or refining my skills. I am eager to find a university that will push me to excel both on the court and in the classroom while allowing me to make a meaningful impact as a student-athlete and future forensic science professional.

From a young age, I have been drawn to the idea of solving mysteries, uncovering the truth, and bringing justice to those who need it most. Whether it was analyzing problems in school, breaking down plays on the volleyball court, or helping friends navigate challenges, I always had a deep curiosity for understanding the bigger picture. However, my true passion for forensic science became clear when I faced my own struggles and moments where I longed for clarity, answers, and the reassurance that even in the darkest situations, truth and justice prevail. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I went through one of the most challenging times of my life. The isolation led to overwhelming depression and anxiety, and I found myself in and out of hospitals, struggling to find my way back to myself. It was through this journey that I realized how important answers, structure, and truth are to healing and moving forward. The professionals who helped me didn’t just treat me; they sought to understand me, to piece together the complexity of my emotions, and to help me reclaim my sense of purpose. That experience made me realize that I want to dedicate my life to doing the same for others but through forensic science. Forensic science is not just about criminal investigations; it is about restoring truth, uncovering evidence, and bringing closure to families and communities in need. It is about giving a voice to those who can no longer speak for themselves and ensuring that every case, every piece of evidence, and every unanswered question is met with diligence and integrity. That is what drives me, the opportunity to make a difference through science, analysis, and unwavering determination. I plan to pursue a degree in forensic science with an associate’s in business, combining my love for investigative work with leadership skills that will allow me to take on meaningful roles within the field. My goal is not just to work in forensic science but to elevate it, pushing for more ethical, efficient, and accurate investigative processes. I want to specialize in forensic investigations and research, using my knowledge to develop new methods and ensure that no case is left unresolved. Beyond my career goals, I want to be an advocate for justice, integrity, and diversity in the forensic science field. As a Black female entering a profession where representation is still growing, I want to pave the way for others, showing them that their voices, intelligence, and contributions matter. Representation in forensic science is crucial, and I am committed to using my career to inspire, mentor, and uplift others. My experiences have taught me that seeking truth is one of the most powerful ways to bring change. Whether in life or in forensic investigations, the ability to find answers and bring clarity to difficult situations is a responsibility I take seriously. That is what I will carry with me into my career—a relentless commitment to uncovering the truth, delivering justice, and making a lasting impact. Forensic science is not just a career to me—it is a calling, one that I will pursue with passion, precision, and an unwavering desire to bring truth to light.

Volleyball has been more than just a sport; it has been my saving grace. It has shaped me into the strong, resilient person I am today, helping me overcome some of the toughest challenges I’ve ever faced. As a Black female athlete in a predominantly white sport, I’ve always had to work harder to prove myself. But beyond the game, I’ve also fought battles that weren’t just on the court—battles with my mental health that nearly took everything from me. In 8th grade, when COVID-19 shut down the world, I found myself isolated, disconnected from my friends, and struggling with depression and anxiety. The loneliness became overwhelming, leading to multiple hospital stays. I felt lost, trapped in a world where I had no control. I didn’t recognize myself anymore, questioning whether I would ever feel like me again. Then, there was volleyball. Returning to the sport gave me something to fight for. It became my escape, motivation, and reminder that I was strong. Volleyball wasn’t just about playing but connection, structure, and purpose. It helped me rebuild my confidence, learn how to trust my teammates, and, most importantly, taught me to love myself again. It showed me that asking for help isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength. That resilience has shaped my entire journey. As a four-year varsity starter, three-time All-Conference player, and two-year team captain, I have pushed myself to be the best I can be. I’ve led my team in kills, blocks, aces, and rotations played while competing at an elite level in club volleyball since 8th grade. I thrive in competition and am always willing to put in extra work to improve, whether it’s staying late at practice, analyzing film, or refining my technique. I take pride in being a leader—not just in performance but in encouraging and inspiring my teammates. But volleyball didn’t just help me on the court. It strengthened me in the classroom, too. I maintain a 4.2 GPA while balancing dual-credit college coursework and athletics. I plan to pursue a degree in forensic science with an associate in business, driven by my passion for problem-solving and analytical thinking. The same discipline I apply to my game translates into my academics. I embrace challenges, push myself to improve, and never settle for less than my best. What makes me different isn’t just my athletic ability or academic achievements. It’s my determination to overcome, my resilience in the face of adversity, and my commitment to inspiring others. I know what it’s like to struggle, to feel like you don’t belong, and to question your strength. But I also know that anything is possible with the right mindset, support, and determination. I want to be more than just a player—I want to be a role model for those who feel like they don’t fit the mold, who are fighting battles of their own, and who need to see that they are strong enough to overcome anything. As I prepare for the next step in my journey, I carry with me my skills and my story—one of resilience, passion, and breaking barriers. I am ready to compete, lead, and inspire at the collegiate level, proving that no matter the obstacles, there is always a way forward. I am proof that strength isn’t just about winning. It’s about never giving up.

Volleyball has been more than just a sport for me—it has been a journey of growth, resilience, and breaking barriers. As a Black female athlete in a predominantly white sport, I have faced challenges that tested my confidence and sense of belonging. Yet rather than seeing these obstacles as roadblocks, I have embraced them as opportunities to prove that I belong—not just as a competitor but as a leader. From the beginning, I knew I had to work twice as hard to be recognized for my talent and leadership. Instead of backing down, I leaned into the challenge, dedicating countless hours to refining my skills, studying the game, and pushing my limits. My commitment to excellence allowed me to dominate on the court, becoming a key player on my high school and club teams. Through discipline, hard work, and perseverance, I have proven that success is not determined by expectations but by effort, mindset, and heart. Resilience has been at the core of my journey. I have faced moments of doubt, adversity, and setbacks, but I have never let them define me. Whether it was a tough loss, a missed opportunity, or feeling like an outsider in my own sport, I have always responded with determination. I put in extra hours at practice, study film, and challenge myself to grow in every way possible. That same drive has carried into my academics, where I maintain a 4.2 GPA while taking dual-credit courses, balancing my education with my athletic commitments. Leadership has also shaped me. As a team captain, I understand leadership is not just about performance. It is about inspiring those around me, setting the tone, and lifting my teammates up. I take pride in being a role model, not just for my team but for young athletes who, like me, may not always see themselves represented in this sport. I want to show them that they can compete, they can lead, and they do belong. I hope that through my journey, I can open doors for others and help redefine what success in volleyball looks like. Volleyball has given me confidence, discipline, and a purpose far greater than myself. It has taught me how to push through adversity, how to lead with integrity, and how to strive for greatness in everything I do. As I prepare to compete at the collegiate level, I am not just bringing my talent. I am bringing my determination to break barriers, my desire to compete, and my passion to inspire others. I want to leave a lasting impact on my team, my sport, and the athletes who will follow in my footsteps. No matter where my journey takes me, I will continue to work hard, lead with purpose, and prove that I belong.
