I am a proud feminist. Feminism is self respect for yourself as a woman and fellow women in this world. Feminism is not tolerating unfairness towards gender and equality. Feminism is lifting other women up, no matter what their background and beliefs consists of. Supporting other women is one of the most important factors of being a feminist, being able to put jealously and insecurities aside to lift women up. A huge issue women suffer with today is how easy it is to turn on one another in a timely matter of seconds. Fighting over a guy, a girl wearing the same shirt, one of your closest friends talking behind your back. Feminism creates a base layer for women's actions, providing a good foundation for support, fairness, and inclusion. We used to live in a world where men dominated, although some parts haven't changed, including: salary, politics, and simply misogyny, women have come a very long way in their rights. A prime example of a feminist role model and icon for women around the world would be Amelia Earhart, a woman who out smarted men, and set a path for women in engineering. Learning about Amelia at a young age still affects women everywhere, including myself. Amelia fascinated me from the moment I learned her story, for her time in history, she not only set records such as the Autogiro altitude record of 18,415 feet, and the record of going 184 miles per hour in an aircraft, but she was the first to fly over the path of the Atlantic Ocean. Ever since being a little girl I have adored helping girls around me, especially when it comes to self esteem. Girls and women today suffer so dearly from self esteem issues that it becomes difficult to make an effort is everyday things like: hygiene or communicating with friends and family, which could possibly lead to mental health problems as well. The message of self confidence and love is so important for myself and all other women, it shows empathy for real strugglers and those who can't even open social media because it's too heartbreaking to see "perfect bodies". As a proud woman I will always promote confidence and empowerment for everyone. No voice deserves to be silenced or ignored, no individual deserves to get bullied for their opinions. Everyone, no matter gender, race, sexuality, or background deserves a life full of respect and unconditional love.
