Helping others has always been at the center of who I am and who I hope to become. My life goals are built around making a positive difference in people’s lives, whether that is supporting them through difficult situations, helping them feel safe and understood, or creating things that bring comfort and confidence. I am passionate about pursuing a career that serves people in meaningful ways. Fields such as law, social work, and criminology interest me because they allow me to advocate for others and stand beside those who need support the most. At the same time, I am also drawn to creative paths like interior design, real estate, and apparel design because they help people feel confident, comfortable, and at home in their own spaces and identities. Although these careers are different, they share the same purpose: helping people. My goal is to build a future where the work I do improves the lives of others and allows me to feel I have accomplished something great. I believe I am a strong candidate for these scholarships because I am compassionate, determined, and committed to using my education to create meaningful change in the lives of those around me.

Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
For me, financial literacy started with confusion, stress, and watching my family try to make ends meet without enough resources or guidance.
I grew up in a very low-income household where money was never guaranteed. When my mom lost her job, everything changed. For a period of time, the only income we had came from government assistance. Even now, she works at a beauty clinic, but the income she earns is small and inconsistent. I’ve seen the credit card debt notices and the stack of bills that come in, and I knew my mom could barely keep up. At one point, I had to start contributing with my own paychecks just to help us stay afloat. Watching her work hard and still struggle has been one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. It showed me that hard work alone isn’t always enough, because you also need knowledge, planning, and financial stability to truly get ahead.
Because of this, I didn’t grow up learning about credit scores, budgeting, or long-term financial planning. Instead, I learned what financial instability looks like. I saw how quickly money could become a source of stress and how careful every decision had to be. While those experiences were difficult, they also shaped my mindset. Rather than accepting that as my future, I decided I wanted something different.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve taken the initiative to educate myself on financial topics that I wasn’t taught growing up. I’ve learned how important it is to budget, save, and understand how credit works before it becomes a problem. Many young people fall into financial traps simply because they don’t have the knowledge to make informed decisions. I don’t want to make those same mistakes. I want to be prepared.
My goal is to use financial education as a foundation for a stable and independent future. I want to be in control of my finances, not constantly worrying about them. Whether it’s paying for college, managing everyday expenses, or planning for long-term goals, I want to make decisions that set me up for success. I don’t want to just get by. I want to build a life where I feel secure and confident in my financial choices.
I also want to use what I learn to help others. Growing up in a low-income household has shown me that many people simply don’t have access to financial guidance. I want to share knowledge with others in my community, whether that’s through conversations, mentorship, or leading by example. Even small lessons about saving money or building credit can make a lasting difference in someone’s life.
The challenges I’ve faced are not setbacks, they are what drive me. They’ve taught me resilience, responsibility, and the importance of taking control of my future. Receiving the Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship would help me continue building the knowledge and skills I need to succeed. More importantly, it would bring me one step closer to breaking the cycle of financial struggle and creating a better future for myself.
I am determined to build a life defined by stability, independence, and smart financial decisions.
