Starting at a young age, I found a love for helping out in my community. I have dedicated significant amounts of time to various volunteer initiatives, such as dog shelters and school events, to express my commitment to help make positive changes around me. During this time, I was able to acknowledge the collective power that the community had as a whole and I actively pursued participation in addressing local needs while also enhancing the well-being of everyone around me. One example of my contributions to improving my community lies in the volunteering time I dedicated to a local animal shelter every week. I spent numerous hours every weekend committing countless efforts to better the well-being of animals, such as walking them and spending social time with them. Not only was I able to make a difference in their lives, but I was also able to help improve my community by taking care of vulnerable animals that needed a little extra love. Through my volunteer work at a local dog shelter and my contributions to the school environment through ASB, my commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond the confines of the school walls. By addressing the needs of both the diverse student body and the furry friends at the animal shelter, my actions have aimed to create a community that values kindness, inclusivity, and a sense of empathy with one another. Additionally, during my sophomore year, I navigated the responsibilities of leadership and left a memorable impact on both the team dynamics and individual players when I was chosen as the volleyball team captain. This experience allowed me to refine the organizational and motivational skills that were needed for the team, as well as how to foster a positive team environment through my abilities. During my time as captain, I was able to showcase my leadership skills during one instance of a challenging period when my team faced internal conflicts in themselves which affected the overall dynamic of the team. My leadership skills came into play as I recognized the importance of addressing the internal issues and had to choose how to fix the problems we faced. In an instance where a new player joined the team, I was able to initiate a team night where we participated in team building exercises that helped her feel more personally connected to the team. By facilitating this effective team night, I helped resolve the internal issues everyone faced and built a stronger foundation of trust and friendship among each person on the team. Beyond solving conflicts, my leadership skills extended to motivating my team through both victories and difficulties. After losses, I encouraged teammates to view their setbacks as a positive opportunity for improvement, while emphasizing the importance of their resilience. I also made sure to promote humility and work ethic after victories, which would reinforce the idea on how individual success would help contribute to the team’s overall accomplishments. By reinstating a positive attitude, I was able to understand the importance of maintaining morale especially in the face of hardships. By arranging these events, I aimed to create a positive environment where everyone would feel connected and appreciated. These efforts of mine significantly helped shape my understanding of being a leader and how to empower individuals to thrive collectively.

The sudden loss of a close family member or loved one can be a heart-breaking experience, which has the ability to alter the very fabric of one's life. The words I'll never forget, "Cooper passed away last night" hit me like a tidal wave that left me struggling with intense feelings of grief and emptiness. Cooper, one of my closest friends for many years, was not just a companion; he was one of the only people who I trusted. His departure into Heaven, attributed to a heart condition that failed him overnight, served as a reminder of the frailness and unpredictability of experiencing life. Only being 14 during this time, I found my young self reflecting on the nature of life and the importance of all the moments we are given, big or small. This deep sense of loss prompted me to reflect on my priorities and reevaluate the things that are most important to me. Cooper’s passing left a lasting impact on my outlook on life, reminding me to focus on what really matters the most in life. I realized that our time on earth is limited, and we need to make the most of that time by doing things that matter. Cooper's struggle with a heart condition, his brave spirit in the face of adversity, and the frailness of life, motivated me to take on a new journey with a powerful purpose. I found both motivation and inspiration in turning my grief into a meaningful cause – to become a chiropractor. Having seen the effects of health issues first-hand, I knew I had a responsibility to help the well-being of others, to provide support and healing when faced with physical challenges. The decision to become a chiropractor represents my commitment to "fight" for a cause that goes beyond just personal ambition. Cooper’s memory inspires me to make a difference in the lives of others, to care for them and to ease the pain of those who struggle with health issues. In choosing this path, I honor his memory by turning grief into a force for good. Not only does his memory live on in my memories, but it also lives on with the purpose I have found through pursuing a career focused on healing and helping others. cles that are thrown my way. My determination to overcome adversity combined with my deep empathy for those facing different health obstacles have fueled my aspiration to become a chiropractor. By witnessing Cooper dealing with a heart condition, I have been inspired to pursue a career where I can make a positive impact on others’ well-being overall. In order to get into my dream career, I plan to major in Kinesiology or exercise science. By doing this, I aim to not only provide physical healing but also be able to offer understanding and support to many individuals navigating their own health challenges through my journey as a chiropractor. I appreciate my personal experiences as they have instilled in me, a commitment to resilience, empathy, and a strong work ethic. I believe that these qualities will contribute to my ability to make a meaningful difference in people's lives as a chiropractor.

One challenging experience where I helped someone in need was a burden that I would never wish for others to go through: growing up with a sick mother. This experience not only shaped my character independently, but also helped steer the course of my academic journey. Starting from a young age, I found myself shouldering responsibilities, as my mother battled with a chronic illness, that were meant to happen in instances far beyond my years. The demands of care giving while I was still growing as a person, coupled with the emotional toll of witnessing a loved one battle with health decline, created a complex and isolated environment that I had to grow up in as nobody around me could understand my situation. Faced with this challenge, I had to adapt to balancing care giving responsibilities while maintaining my academic needs simultaneously. Starting early on, I learned the importance of time management in order to ensure that my mother’s needs were met without compromising my commitment to education. Late nights and early mornings were spent juggling between studying for school and helping out my mother in any way, and weekends often became a multitask of catching up on coursework or doing demanding chores that were absent around the house. Despite the hard circumstances, this experience undoubtedly cultivated my resilience and strong work ethic as a young, independent person. This challenge significantly impacted my academic achievement by serving as my motivating factor, which helped me realize that education is my key to a better future. My ongoing pursuit of success in education became not only a personal goal, but evidence for my ability to navigate through hardships, my grades were able to reflect my academic aptitude as well as mirror the persistence I faced when overcoming these significant obstacles in life. Every obstacle that I have gone through has motivated me to work harder, strive for excellence, and prove that any circumstances I go through do not define my capabilities. Ultimately, my situation reveals how my experience has shaped me into a resilient individual, ready to face any future obstacles that are thrown my way. My determination to overcome adversity combined with my deep empathy for those facing different health obstacles have fueled my aspiration to become a chiropractor.
