Going to college means a lot to me because it represents opportunity, growth, and the chance to build a better future for myself and my family. Ever since I was younger, I have understood how important education is for creating opportunities in life. College is not only about earning a degree, but also about becoming more independent, learning important skills, and preparing for a successful future. I know that attending college will take hard work, dedication, and responsibility, but I am willing to put in the effort because I want to accomplish my goals and make a positive difference in the world.
One of the biggest reasons college is important to me is because I want to pursue a career in the medical field. My goal is to become a radiologist oncologist so I can help patients who are battling cancer and support families during difficult times. I became interested in this career because of my grandfather, who passed away before I was born after becoming sick. Even though I never had the chance to meet him, my family has always shared stories about how kind and caring he was. Hearing those stories inspired me to want a career where I can help others and make people feel supported during hard moments in their lives.
Going to college also means proving to myself that I am capable of achieving something meaningful. There have been times when school felt stressful or overwhelming, but those experiences taught me how to work harder and stay determined. I know college will come with even more challenges, but I also know it will help me grow as a person. I want to continue improving my knowledge, developing stronger skills, and learning from new experiences. College will allow me to meet different people, explore new opportunities, and become more confident in myself and my abilities.
Another thing I want to accomplish through college is making my family proud. My family has always supported and encouraged me to do my best in school and stay focused on my future. I want to show them that their sacrifices and encouragement were worth it. Earning a college degree would not only be an accomplishment for me, but also for the people who believed in me and supported me along the way.
In the future, I hope to use my education to help my community and improve the lives of others. I want to work in a career where I can make people feel cared for and respected. I also hope to inspire younger students to believe in themselves and work toward their goals no matter what challenges they face. To me, college is more than just classes and homework. It is a path toward achieving my dreams, helping others, and building a successful future.
Christian Fitness Association General Scholarship
One challenge I faced during school was learning how to balance my education, responsibilities, and personal stress while still staying focused on my future goals. High school has not always been easy for me because there were times when I felt overwhelmed by classes, homework, family responsibilities, and pressure about my future. Even though many students experience stress, there were moments when I truly struggled to stay motivated and confident in myself. However, going through those difficult times helped me become stronger, more disciplined, and more determined to succeed.
During my freshman year, I started realizing how different high school was from middle school. The workload became heavier, teachers expected more responsibility, and I constantly felt pressure to keep my grades up. At the same time, I was also trying to help my family at home whenever I could. Some nights I stayed up late finishing assignments because I had other responsibilities earlier in the day. Balancing everything at once became exhausting, and eventually my stress started affecting my confidence in school.
One of the hardest moments for me happened after I failed an important test in one of my classes. I remember feeling embarrassed and disappointed in myself because I had studied, but I still did not perform the way I wanted to. For a while, I started doubting my abilities and questioning whether I was smart enough to reach my goals. Seeing other students succeed around me made me feel even more discouraged because I felt like I was falling behind.
Instead of giving up, I decided I needed to change my habits and mindset. The first thing I did was improve my time management skills. I started using a planner to organize my assignments, tests, and responsibilities. Breaking my work into smaller tasks helped me feel less overwhelmed and more in control of my schedule. I also created study routines instead of waiting until the last minute to complete assignments. At first it was difficult to stay consistent, but over time these habits helped me become more organized and focused.
Another important step I took was asking for help when I needed it. Before this experience, I felt embarrassed asking teachers questions because I thought it would make me seem weak or unprepared. Eventually, I realized that asking for help is actually a sign of growth and responsibility. I started staying after class to ask questions, review lessons, and get extra support on topics I struggled with. Some of my teachers encouraged me and reminded me that improvement takes time and effort. Their support helped me regain confidence in myself.
I also learned how important mental health is during stressful situations. There were times when I felt mentally exhausted from trying to balance everything, so I started finding healthier ways to deal with stress. Listening to music, taking short breaks, talking to friends, and staying positive helped me stay motivated. I realized that success is not only about working hard academically, but also taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally.
By the end of the school year, I saw major improvements in both my grades and my confidence. I raised my performance in several classes and felt more proud of myself because I knew how hard I had worked to improve. More importantly, I learned valuable life skills like perseverance, discipline, responsibility, and patience. Those lessons continue to help me today, both in school and in my personal life.
This challenge taught me that obstacles do not define who you are unless you allow them to stop you. Even though I struggled at times, I refused to quit on myself and my goals. I learned that growth often comes from difficult experiences because challenges force people to become stronger and more determined. In the future, I know there will still be obstacles in my education and career, especially because I plan to pursue a difficult path in the medical field. However, this experience showed me that I am capable of overcoming challenges if I stay focused, work hard, and believe in myself.
I believe this scholarship would help me continue pursuing my goals and building a better future for myself. I am determined to continue improving academically, helping others in my community, and working toward my dream career. Although my journey has not always been easy, every challenge I have faced has helped shape me into a more hardworking and motivated person.
This experience also taught me to appreciate progress instead of expecting perfection. I learned that everyone struggles sometimes, even if they do not show it. What matters most is continuing to push forward and not giving up during difficult moments. Overcoming this challenge made me more mature, independent, and prepared for the responsibilities and challenges I may face in college and later in life.
Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
I plan to make a positive impact on the world by becoming a doctor, specifically a radiologist oncologist. I want to help people who are fighting serious illnesses like cancer and support families during some of the hardest moments in their lives. The reason this career is so important to me is because of my grandfather, who passed away before I was born. Even though I never had the chance to meet him, my family has always shared stories about how kind, caring, and hardworking he was. Hearing those stories inspired me to become someone who helps others and makes a difference in people’s lives.
My grandfather became sick before I was born, and learning about his illness made me realize how important doctors are. I saw how much his loss affected my family, even years later. It made me think about all the other families going through similar pain when someone they love becomes sick. Because of this, I want to work in the medical field and help patients who are dealing with cancer. A radiologist oncologist uses technology and medicine to diagnose and treat cancer, and I believe this career would allow me to help save lives while also giving people hope during difficult times.
Another reason I want to become a doctor is because I enjoy helping people and making others feel cared for. I know that patients going through cancer treatments may feel scared, stressed, or hopeless at times. I want to be the kind of doctor who not only treats illness but also supports patients emotionally. Small acts of kindness, patience, and encouragement can make a huge difference in someone’s life. I want people to feel comfortable and respected when they are receiving treatment because being kind can help people feel stronger during hard situations.
I also plan to make a positive impact by giving back to my community. In the future, I hope to volunteer at hospitals, support cancer awareness programs, and educate people about the importance of health and early checkups. Many people are afraid of going to the doctor or may not know the warning signs of serious illnesses. I want to help spread awareness and encourage people to take care of their health before problems become worse. Helping even one person can create a difference that lasts forever.
Even though becoming a radiologist oncologist will require years of education and hard work, I am willing to stay focused on my goals. My grandfather’s story continues to inspire me even though I never met him. I want to honor his memory by building a career centered around compassion, kindness, and helping others. I believe making a positive impact on the world starts with caring about people and using your abilities to improve their lives. Through medicine, I hope to help families, support patients, and make people feel less alone during difficult times.
“I Matter” Scholarship
Last year on Christmas Eve, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a community event that helped homeless people and families in need. That experience became one of the most meaningful moments of my life because it showed me how important kindness and support can be, especially during the holidays. While many people spend Christmas Eve celebrating with their families, there are others who struggle to afford food, clothes, or school supplies for their children. Seeing that reality in person changed the way I think about helping others and made me more grateful for what I have.
At the event, I helped cook and serve free meals to homeless individuals and families. There were many volunteers working together to prepare food, organize supplies, and make sure everyone felt welcomed. I remember helping in the kitchen for hours, preparing meals and packing plates while Christmas music played in the background. Even though the work was tiring, it felt rewarding knowing that we were helping people who truly needed support. When we started serving the food, I saw how thankful people were just to have a warm meal and someone treating them with kindness. Some people smiled and thanked us over and over again, while others simply looked relieved to have a safe place to eat for the night.
Besides helping with the food, I also volunteered to hand out free school supplies to children and teenagers. We gave away backpacks, notebooks, pencils, folders, and other important items students need for school. One moment that really stayed with me was when a young child hugged a backpack tightly because they were excited to finally have supplies for school. That moment reminded me that something small to one person can mean everything to someone else. It made me realize how many families struggle financially and how important it is for communities to support one another.
The experience also taught me valuable lessons about compassion and gratitude. Before volunteering, I understood that homelessness existed, but I never fully realized how many people face these challenges every day. Talking to some of the families helped me understand that many people are going through difficult situations that others may never see. It showed me that people should not be judged based on their struggles because anyone can face hard times unexpectedly.
Volunteering on Christmas Eve also made me feel more connected to my community. Everyone at the event came together for one purpose, which was helping others feel cared for during the holiday season. Even though we were all from different backgrounds, we worked together to make a positive difference. That experience inspired me to continue helping others in the future through volunteering and community service.
Looking back, volunteering that Christmas Eve changed me in a positive way. It taught me that helping others does not always require something huge or expensive. Sometimes a warm meal, school supplies, or simply showing kindness can make someone feel hopeful again. The experience made me more thankful, more understanding, and more motivated to continue giving back to people in need.
Julie Adams Memorial Scholarship – Women in STEM
I am passionate about pursuing a degree in biology because I want to help others and make a positive difference in people’s lives. Ever since I was younger, I have been interested in science and learning how the human body works. Biology is a subject that helps explain life, health, and the way living things grow and survive. As I learned more about biology in school, I realized that it connects to many careers that help people every day, especially in the medical field. Knowing that I can use my education to improve someone’s life is one of the biggest reasons why I want to pursue this degree.
Another reason I am passionate about biology is because I enjoy learning about health and medicine. I find it interesting how doctors, nurses, and scientists use biology to understand diseases and find treatments that can save lives. The medical field continues to grow and improve because of scientific discoveries, and I want to be part of that progress someday. I know studying biology will not always be easy because it requires hard work, patience, and dedication, but I am willing to put in the effort because my goals are important to me. I believe challenges can help people grow stronger and more determined.
Helping others is the main reason why I want to pursue a biology degree. I want a future career where I can support people during difficult moments and make them feel cared for. Whether it is helping patients recover, educating people about health, or working to improve medical treatments, I want my work to have a positive impact. I know there are many people who struggle with illness, stress, or lack of healthcare, and I hope my future career can help make life better for others. Even small acts of kindness and support can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
Biology also interests me because it allows people to continue learning and discovering new things. Science is always changing, and new medical breakthroughs happen every year. I like the idea of being in a career where I can keep learning and improving my knowledge. I believe biology is more than just a subject in school because it helps people understand life and how to care for others. It teaches important skills like problem-solving, teamwork, responsibility, and critical thinking, which are useful in both school and life.
Overall, I am passionate about pursuing a biology degree because it combines my interest in science with my desire to help people. I want to use my education to make a difference in my community and support others in the future. Even though the journey may be difficult at times, I am motivated by the idea of helping people live healthier and happier lives. Pursuing this degree is important to me because it will allow me to follow my passion, grow as a person, and create a positive impact on the world around me.
Another reason why this degree is important to me is because I want to inspire other people, especially younger students, to follow their dreams and believe in themselves. Many students feel nervous about pursuing careers in science because they think it is too difficult or that they are not smart enough. I want to show others that success comes from hard work, determination, and believing in your goals. In the future, I hope to volunteer in my community, mentor younger students, and encourage others to become interested in science and healthcare. I want people to see that helping others through medicine and biology can truly change lives. Being able to inspire and support others while also doing something I love would make me proud of the career path I chose.
Learner Mental Health Empowerment for Health Students Scholarship
Mental health is important to me as a student because it affects how I think, learn, and handle everyday life. School can become stressful with homework, tests, sports, family responsibilities, and trying to balance everything at once. There have been times when I felt overwhelmed and exhausted from trying to meet expectations while also dealing with personal stress. When mental health is ignored, it becomes harder to focus in class, stay motivated, and enjoy things that once made you happy. I believe students should care about their mental health just as much as their physical health because both are important for living a healthy and successful life.
As a student, I have learned that mental health affects everyone differently. Some students may struggle with anxiety, stress, sadness, or pressure from school and social media, while others may feel alone or misunderstood. Even though people may look fine on the outside, they could still be dealing with problems privately. This is why I believe it is important to create environments where students feel safe talking about their emotions without fear of being judged. Sometimes people stay silent because they are scared others will not understand them. I think having supportive friends, teachers, and family members can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
One way I advocate for mental health in my community is by trying to be supportive toward others. I try to check on my friends when they seem stressed or upset instead of ignoring the signs. Even simple conversations can help someone feel less alone. I also encourage people to take breaks when they are overwhelmed and remind them that it is okay to ask for help. At school, students are often under pressure to get good grades and plan for their future, so I try to remind others that nobody is perfect and everyone struggles sometimes. Being understanding and listening to others can help create a more positive environment.
At home, I advocate for mental health by encouraging open communication with my family. I think it is important for family members to talk honestly about stress and emotions instead of keeping everything bottled up inside. I also try to manage my own mental health by finding healthy ways to deal with stress, such as listening to music, spending time with people I trust, and taking breaks when I need them. Learning how to care for my mental health has helped me become more aware of the importance of self-care and emotional support.
Mental health matters to me because students face many pressures every day, and nobody should feel like they have to deal with everything alone. I believe supporting mental health can help students feel more confident, focused, and hopeful about their future. Even small actions like listening, showing kindness, or checking on someone can have a positive impact. By continuing to support others and speak openly about mental health, I hope to help create a community where people feel accepted, understood, and comfortable asking for help when they need it.
Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
One Olivia Rodrigo lyric that really connects to my life is from her song drivers license when she says, “I still fucking love you.” Even though it is a breakup song, the emotion behind it reminds me of how hard it can be to let go of people, memories, and situations that once meant a lot to you. As a high school student, I have gone through friendships changing, people growing apart, and moments where I felt left behind. Those experiences taught me that growing up is not always easy, and sometimes the hardest part is accepting that things will not stay the same forever.
Another lyric that stands out to me is from brutal where Olivia says, “I’m so sick of seventeen.” That lyric feels real because being a teenager can honestly feel overwhelming sometimes. There is pressure from school, family expectations, social media, and trying to figure out who you are at the same time. There have been moments when I felt stressed trying to keep my grades up while also worrying about my future. Sometimes it feels like everyone else has their life together while I am still trying to understand mine. That lyric reminds me that other teenagers feel the same pressure too, and it makes me feel less alone.
I also connect to the song the grudge because it talks about the pain of being hurt by someone you trusted. One lyric says, “You have everything and you still want more.” I relate to that because I have had friendships where I gave a lot of effort and loyalty, but it still felt like it was never enough. Losing trust in someone is difficult, especially when they were once important to you. Those experiences were painful, but they also helped me become stronger and more careful about who I allow into my life. They taught me the importance of respecting myself and not chasing people who do not value me the same way.
At the same time, Olivia Rodrigo’s music also reflects the positive parts of my journey. Songs like get him back! and good 4 u show emotions in a very honest and confident way. Listening to her music helped me realize that it is okay to express feelings instead of hiding them. As I have grown older, I have become more confident in speaking up for myself and focusing on my own goals instead of worrying so much about what other people think.
Overall, Olivia Rodrigo’s lyrics connect to my life because they are honest about the struggles of growing up. Her music talks about heartbreak, insecurity, anger, and self-growth in a way that feels real to many teenagers. My own journey has included challenges like stress, changing friendships, and learning to believe in myself. Even though those experiences were difficult, they helped me grow into a stronger and more mature person. Olivia Rodrigo’s music reminds me that nobody’s teenage years are perfect, and that every challenge can teach you something important about yourself.
Ruthie Brown Scholarship
Paying for college is something I think about a lot because I know student loan debt can become stressful in the future. College is expensive, and I understand that many students struggle with paying back loans after they graduate. Because of this, I want to prepare early and make smart financial choices. One way I plan to deal with student loan debt is by applying for as many scholarships as possible. I have already started searching for scholarships that match my grades, interests, and future career goals. Even smaller scholarships can help reduce the amount of money I may need to borrow. I also plan to continue doing my best in school so I can qualify for more financial aid and academic opportunities.
Another way I plan to manage future student loan debt is by working while I am in college. I know it may be difficult to balance classes, homework, and a job, but I believe it will help me become more responsible and independent. Having a part-time job can help me pay for personal expenses like books, transportation, and school supplies without relying completely on loans. I also want to learn how to budget my money wisely. Instead of spending money on unnecessary things, I plan to focus on saving and making careful decisions. Learning good money habits early will help me avoid financial problems later in life.
After I graduate and begin my career, I plan to stay committed to paying off any student loans I may have. I understand that paying back loans takes time, patience, and responsibility. My goal is to make steady payments each month and avoid falling behind. I also want to continue improving my financial knowledge so I can make smart decisions about saving and spending in the future. Even though college costs can feel overwhelming, I believe that hard work, planning ahead, and staying focused on my goals will help me succeed. I want to build a stable future for myself while also making my family proud.
Another way I plan to manage future student loan debt is by working while I am in college. I know it may not always be easy to balance classes, homework, studying, and a job, but I believe the experience will help me become more responsible and independent. Having a part-time job can help me pay for personal expenses like books, transportation, food, and school supplies without depending completely on loans. I also want to create a budget and learn how to manage my money wisely. Instead of spending money on unnecessary things, I plan to focus on saving and making careful financial decisions. Mark Caldwell Memorial STEM/STEAM Scholarship
During my freshman year, balancing school and responsibilities at home became very difficult. My grades started to drop because I was constantly stressed and tired. I often stayed up late finishing assignments after helping my siblings with homework and chores. At one point, I failed an important math test, and I felt embarrassed and disappointed in myself. I began to wonder if I was capable of reaching my goals.
Instead of giving up, I decided to change my habits and focus on improving little by little. The first strategy I used was better time management. I started using a planner to organize my homework, tests, and responsibilities at home. I made a study schedule and set small goals for myself each week. Breaking my work into smaller tasks helped me stay focused and prevented me from feeling overwhelmed.
Another skill I developed was self-discipline. There were many times when I wanted to quit studying or take the easy way out, but I reminded myself why my education mattered. I started limiting distractions, putting my phone away during study time, and reviewing my notes every night instead of waiting until the last minute. These changes were not easy at first, but over time they became habits that improved both my grades and my confidence.
I also learned the importance of asking for help. Before this experience, I believed I had to solve every problem on my own. Eventually, I started staying after class to ask teachers questions and getting extra help when I needed it. I even studied with classmates who encouraged me and helped explain difficult lessons. This taught me that strong people are not afraid to ask for support.
By the end of the school year, all of my hard work finally paid off. I raised my grades in several classes and passed my biology final with one of the highest scores in the class. More importantly, I proved to myself that I could overcome challenges through determination and effort. That achievement meant so much to me because I knew how hard I had worked to earn it.
Looking back, that difficult period changed me as a person. It taught me responsibility, patience, and perseverance. I learned that obstacles do not define someone’s future unless they allow them to. Even though the hardship was stressful, it made me stronger and more prepared for future challenges. I now face problems with a more positive mindset because I know I can overcome them if I stay focused and continue working hard.
This experience showed me that success is not about being perfect. It is about pushing forward even during hard times. The strategies and skills I developed during that period will continue to help me throughout my education and future career. Most importantly, I learned to believe in myself, even when life becomes difficult.

When I was younger, I always admired doctors and nurses because they helped people during some of the hardest moments in their lives. Seeing healthcare workers care for patients with kindness and patience inspired me to learn more about the medical field. Over time, I realized that medicine is more than just treating illnesses. It is about giving people hope, comfort, and support. That is what inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field.
Another reason I became interested in medicine is because I enjoy helping others. I like being there for people when they need support, and I want to make a difference in people’s lives every day. The medical field gives me the chance to do that while also learning new things and growing as a person. I know becoming a healthcare worker will take hard work and dedication, but I am willing to put in the effort because I truly care about helping others.
I am also interested in the medical field because science has always been one of my favorite subjects in school. I enjoy learning how the human body works and how doctors use medicine and technology to save lives. The medical field is constantly changing and improving, which means there are always new discoveries being made. I want to be part of a career where I can continue learning and use my knowledge to help people stay healthy.
In the future, I plan to make a difference through my career by helping people in my community who may not have easy access to healthcare. Many families struggle to afford medical treatment or do not have enough information about staying healthy. I want to educate people about healthy habits, encourage regular checkups, and help patients feel comfortable and cared for. Even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
I also hope to inspire younger students who are interested in the medical field. I want to show them that with hard work and determination, they can achieve their goals no matter where they come from. By volunteering, mentoring, and supporting community programs, I hope to encourage others to follow their dreams and make positive choices for their future.
Pursuing a career in the medical field is important to me because it combines my love for science with my passion for helping others.
