I’ve always been there to help others when they needed it. It feels good to do the right thing. I learned that from my dad. When I was younger, my dad always told me to be a better person, stand up for myself, and make a change. He still gives me those inspiring talks to this day, and it really helps me out. He made me a better person by giving me the courage to help others, to be myself, and to “live life”. Whenever I try to pursue my goals, my friends and family are always there to back me up, and I can’t thank them enough for their love and support. My goal for the future is to get a job as an architect after graduating from Kent State University. I’m still in high school, as a senior, ready to leave to become a young adult, so change is coming just around the corner. In my previous years at Pine Richland High School, I've taken classes to help me be better prepared and suited for becoming an architect. From learning how to use all the power tools they offered, to building and creating homes on paper and computers. Majoring in architecture is one thing, but to get my mind off things from all the building and drawings, I also want to become a part of the Golden Flashes Band. I’ve been playing an instrument since 4th grade, and growing up with my friends in band really helped me get through school. I enjoy marching band, because it takes the stress away from schoolwork. I enjoy music, playing amazing songs, going to games, and having fun with my friends. I hope to have the same experience as I do now in the future, because I will definitely miss it. Some struggles that I've faced were at the beginning of my senior year, having a job at my local Walmart. I started working at Walmart this past summer to get experience and start a student checking account. This was my first job, so I didn't know what to expect. My position there was Stock Team 2, meaning I was in the back, sorting and bringing items out on the floor to stock. I was constantly on my feet. It gave me a pretty good workout. Having my first real job showed me that not everything was going to be easy. Balancing work with school was tough, so managing time was something I had to start perfecting. While I worked at Walmart, I had to stock and organize items. Additionally, I had to aid customers. Some customers required much more patience, which was a hassle sometimes. That work plus having a time limit on me was not fun. I had to carry my own weight plus extra to satisfy my managers. The hours I was assigned to were 2nd shift, so working till 10 PM on school nights was challenging. I finally realized that working while trying to keep up with school just didn’t help physically and mentally. So I quit, giving more time to focus on school. My first job experience wasn't a good start, with all the negative hardships, but I learned what jobs bring. Working at Walmart taught me self-awareness, resilience, and clarity. In the future, I hope to gain new job experience while at college, having more time, classes, and less weight on my shoulders. Having to deal with that rough summer really put me down, but from what this community, and my loved ones, have given me, it has made me into the “someone” I have striven to be when I was younger. In the future with pursuing architecture as my intended major in college, I want to have my ideas come to life. I want to help others, and create people's dream homes. To me, it's amazing to me to see so many different styles and ideas coming to life from different architects, and I hope to one day have my work out in the world as well, being seen by everyone. I’ve always been the one who saved up and helped out where I could. Having the money from this scholarship would help me become one step closer to not being in debt, and bring down my struggles of financial strain. This scholarship can help me to focus more on the productive classes I will take in the future while attending Kent State University. In my book, every penny counts and can go a very long way.

The STEM field that most excites me is Architecture. I love everything about it. I enjoy working not only with computers but also with hands-on work, creating models and drawing to my heart's content. I started drawing when I was in first grade, and I’ve kept up with it ever since. When I first started high school, I was hit with questions of what my future major would be, what colleges I was planning to apply for, and what classes I was going to need to take. I wasn't set on my major of choice, but my mind at the time was leaning towards mechanical engineering. I wanted to do something STEM related because of how I was influenced by my dad and what he does at USSteel. Halfway through high school, I started to realize that mechanical engineering wasn't the best choice for me, and it wasn't what my heart was telling me. Conflicted with many thoughts, I asked my parents for help, and my mother pointed me towards Architecture. That conversation at dinner changed my life completely. I’m in high school, as a senior, ready to leave to become a young adult, so change is coming just around the corner. I didn’t really know what to go for in the future when it came to deciding what major to choose. But now that I know that Architecture is the right major for me, I’ve been taking classes like CAD, Architecture Design, and some art classes to get me prepared for college. From learning how to use all the power tools they offered, to building and creating homes on paper and computers, I feel more and more confident of becoming an architect. I love the idea of creating something on paper and making it come true. Just like Architecture, I want to have my ideas come to life. I want to help others and create people's dream homes. To me, I enjoy seeing so many different styles and ideas coming to life from different architects. I hope to one day have my work out in the world, being seen by everyone, but I’ll need a little help to grab that goal of mine. Having the money to cover college funds can help me stop worrying about being in debt. I’ve always saved money and helped out with trying to get enough money to be in a good area with how much college costs. In my book, every penny counts and can go a long way.

What my community has given me has been life-changing and amazing. Everyone close to me has helped me be the best version of myself. I return the love from everyone close to me and pay it back. During the summer time, me and my friend would volunteer to help out at our local library, introducing the summer program they hold there for kids to keep their minds sharp. I've stayed after school to help out with projects, signed up for our pep band program, and got together with friends to pick up trash that was found in our neighborhood. Additionally, If I were to start my own charity, I would make it so the donations would go towards the programs at schools. By donating money, I would be helping many students find their future career paths in smaller less fortunate communities. Schools should offer students many chances to find their spark in what interests them, and by donating the money, it would help the future generations. From what this community, and my loved ones, have given me, and paying it back in return, it has made me into the “someone” I striven to be when I was younger.
