For the past years of high school, I spent much time on community service and athletics, raking up hours over 250 volunteer hours in outreach programs while engaging in different sports and the IB Diploma Program. It has been tough, but at the same time, taking difficult courses and keeping my GPA over 4.5 was crucial for me. Through volunteering with students with special needs, over 100 hours at the food pantry, at pet shelters, and many other miscellaneous places, I also developed a deeper sense of empathy and social responsibility. It is simultaneously playing soccer, lacrosse, and competing in discus that have taught me the most valuable lesson for life concerning aspects of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. These experiences inculcated in me a great deal about determination and leadership and set me up for challenges lying ahead but also brought to light a lifelong commitment to personal growth and community engagement.

I am a high school senior in Florida with a strong interest in psychology and a passion for serving others through leadership and community involvement. Throughout my high school experience, I have challenged myself academically while also staying actively engaged in extracurricular activities that have helped shape who I am. I have participated in sports such as track, soccer, and lacrosse, which taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. In addition, I serve as President of the Coexistence Club and Vice President of Indian Outreach, where I have been able to promote inclusion, cultural awareness, and service within my school community.
Outside of school, I have dedicated time to community service, including volunteering over 150 hours fostering animals, assisting individuals with disabilities, participating in cleanups, and helping organize food and clothing drives. One of my most meaningful contributions has been helping start and support a school food pantry, where I saw firsthand the impact that providing basic necessities can have on individuals and families. These experiences have strengthened my sense of empathy and my desire to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Post-high school, I plan to attend the University of Pittsburgh with an intended major in Applied Developmental Psychology. I have a guaranteed pathway into a master’s program in the same field, and I ultimately hope to become a psychologist. My goal is to work with children and adolescents, helping them navigate emotional challenges and build confidence as they grow. My experiences working with younger students and in community service have played a significant role in shaping this career path.
If I could start my own charity, it would be centered around creating a pay-what-you-can restaurant that provides nutritious meals to individuals and families regardless of their financial situation. This idea connects to my interest in cooking, as I enjoy preparing food and sharing it with others. After school, I often come home and make dinner for my family, which I would consider to be a labor of love. The mission of this charity would be to reduce food insecurity while fostering dignity, community, and accessibility. The restaurant would serve individuals who may be experiencing financial hardship, as well as anyone in the community who chooses to participate. I think that with this restaurant, since cooking is a labor of love, it would show everyone around there that they are loved even when they may not feel it.
Volunteers would play a key role in the operation of the restaurant by assisting with meal preparation, cooking, serving food, organizing supplies, and maintaining the space. Additional efforts could include outreach to raise awareness, coordinating donations, and helping create a welcoming environment for all guests. Overall, this charity would aim to combine service, community, and sustainability while ensuring that everyone has access to a meal in a respectful and supportive setting.

Faith plays a significant role in my life by shaping my values, guiding my actions, and influencing the way I approach both my education and future goals. One of the most meaningful ways my faith has impacted me is through my involvement in helping start and support a school food pantry. This experience allowed me to put my beliefs into action and understand what it truly means to serve others with compassion and intention. A verse that resonates deeply with me is, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done” (Proverbs 19:17). This verse reminds me that even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact, and it encourages me to continue helping others in any way I can.
Working with the food pantry opened my eyes to the challenges that many individuals and families face, especially when it comes to access to basic necessities like food. Before this experience, I understood the idea of helping others in a general sense, but being directly involved made it much more real and personal. I saw how something as simple as providing food could ease stress and bring comfort to someone’s life. It taught me the importance of empathy, not just as a feeling, but as an action. My faith encouraged me to approach this work without judgment and with a genuine desire to make others feel supported and valued.
This experience has had a lasting impact on my academic and future goals. I plan to pursue a degree in Applied Developmental Psychology because I want to continue helping others, particularly children, in a meaningful and lasting way. Just as the food pantry addressed physical needs, I hope to one day support individuals with their emotional and psychological well-being. My faith has taught me the importance of caring for the whole person, and I want to carry that mindset into my future career as a psychologist. I hope to create safe, supportive environments where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered to overcome their challenges.
In addition to my faith, my involvement in community service has been a major factor in pushing me to pursue higher education. Experiences like working with the food pantry have shown me that I am capable of making a difference, but they have also made me realize that there is so much more I can learn. Higher education will give me the knowledge and skills necessary to expand the impact I can have on others. It is not just about achieving personal success, but about gaining the tools to better serve my community.
Overall, my faith and my experiences have worked together to shape who I am and who I hope to become. They have taught me to lead with kindness, act with purpose, and remain committed to helping others. As I continue my education and move toward my future career, I will carry these values with me, using them as a foundation for both my personal and professional life.

From that moment when I looked up toward the sky and saw an airplane soar by, I have wanted to be a part of this wonderful world of flight. The way aircraft, along what appears to be an endless stretch of possibilities, seem to rebuff gravity and can carry any person to new horizons never fails to inspire me. What keeps me pushing forward toward the respective goals of becoming a pilot or aerospace engineer is that one, with such careers, could inspire others; and stretch the envelope of human achievement in ways that don't exist today.
My inspiration to become a pilot or aerospace engineer is found in a disinclined fascination with the science and engineering that goes into flight, along with the innate desire to personally contribute to the future of transportation and exploration. It is something that does not fail to fascinate me: how huge machines like this can fly through the air with the intricate balancing of aerodynamics, propulsion, and materials science. It's the potentiality of being at the very frontline of innovations in aircraft design—developing more fuel-efficient engines, exploring new materials for lighter and stronger airframes, or even working on spacecraft for future missions to Mars and beyond—which really drives me.
Being a pilot would mean guiding passengers across the skies safely and sharing my passion for flying concurrently. God forbid anything goes wrong when somebody as enthusiastic about flying as myself is flying the aircraft. Something magical lies in being responsible for guiding the aircraft through the air, and I believe that magic has the potential to inspire others to view the world from an all-new point of view. Pilots join people and cultures around the world, and I get excited at the hope of joining that global community.
I said that if I became an aerospace engineer, I would be driven to inspire another group of aviators and engineers with brilliant designs and technologies. The area that excites the most about aerospace engineering is that dealing with sustainable solutions in aviation—development of electric aircraft and alternative fuels. With the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, I reckon I will have helped prove that through innovation and determination, global challenges like climate change can be resolved.
In both professional fields I find enormous potential to inspire others by personifying the spirit of exploration and progress that defined flying from its very beginning. I should show in my actions, whether in the cockpit or at the design lab, that with hard work, creativity, and passion, we can still push the boundaries of what is possible on the air and on anything.
That makes me think of one more quote, from Leonardo da Vinci: "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." This lets in the feeling of transformation through flight and is witnessing the ever-present muse. Entering into the field of aviation will not only further my own dreams, but it will also light a fire in others to look up, dream big, and reach for the stars.
