While growing up I had the very unique opportunity, even as a young child, to be a part of many non-profit organizations in my small town. I learned servitude and teamwork as I helped adults set up for events that would benefit the people around us. I was able to learn about the inner workings of many organizations and the mission that drove them to make a difference. I was given this opportunity because in such a small town, community was everything. My mom has always been extremely involved in our small town. Her passion has always been to provide creative outlets for students and community members by directing an annual play, starting up a non profit organization dedicated to fundraising to support music and drama education at our school, being a music teacher, and directing a youth choir. Her passion led me to be involved in almost everything she was. As I grew older my contributions grew larger. I love working with dedicated individuals who continually sacrifice so much to help others. I relish being able to contribute to something that makes such a difference in others lives. The community that I was born into and the atmosphere that I was raised in have cultivated my passion for helping others. I am motivated by the importance of the cause and also by the strength and generosity of the people who are also working to help others.
Specifically, I believe my passion lies in the advocacy of people and cultures. I plan to earn a degree in Political Studies. I want to learn about the origin of law and how to navigate the world of politics. With this degree, my goal is to then move on to possibly studying International Affairs and Foreign Services so that I will be educated on how to advocate for and help the people of another country. This career path is vast but my passion is specific. I want to be able to help other people. Whether helping them is being an ambassador or building houses in a third world country. Understanding how to navigate cultural differences and other needs is something I hope to learn as I further my education so that I can follow my passion and better help others.
I am motivated to pursue my goals because of my upbringing and the people who have contributed to influencing my passion. These goals are ones that have shaped my work ethic and attitude towards life, but they have also shaped the person that I am constantly working to become and the life that I hope to lead.
