Bio

I love anything to do with computers and technology. I am hardworking, but I love to relax and enjoy self-care. My dream is to be a software engineer and be a part of the minority of women working in STEM. I want to bring more technology and computer services to my small-town community. My desire is to pave a path for other women and small-town nerds to go into the expanding field of informational systems. Keep an eye on me, because I am going to do great things and make the world a brighter place.

I knew the first time I coded a website what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to create, but not with physical materials. I wanted to make something that is vital and nearly invisible, but almost everyone interacts with it. That is when I decided to become a software engineer—to create beyond the basics of websites. My dream is to be a part of the technological revolution that the current generation is blessed to see. I hope to make the world a better place by working to improve technology without making it inaccessible to sections of society—to design technology with people in mind.    Undeniably, technology is evolving at an exponential pace. Current hardware and software systems are being built and becoming obsolete at almost the same time. At this neck-breaking speed, normal users can find it challenging to navigate the technological systems running society in this day and age. I want to be part of the solution. I try to familiarize myself with a variety of systems to better understand how they are supposed to work and see if I can find a way to make them more user-friendly.     An example of how I accomplish this objective is by learning the engineering design process. The method has been proven helpful in solving design problems and making improvements. Unfortunately, it is not utilized in the technological field as much as it should be. Sometimes, instead of technology making life simpler, it overcomplicates it. Technology is capable of many tasks, but it is a tool intended for people. A tool is only as good as how people use it. It does not matter how powerful an instrument is if it is poorly designed and cannot fulfill its potential.    Consequently, my goal is to build not only an important and useful system but also a people-friendly one. At the swift rate of progress technology is experiencing, several members of society are being left behind. Obviously, the older generation, which will need the most help going into the future as their bodies and minds weaken, will have a difficult time adapting to new technological systems. However, since these systems are changing so rapidly, even young and middle-aged people have trouble adjusting to these new systems. It is an unavoidable problem that society will face and is currently facing.     In conclusion, the solution to making technology more accessible will involve behavioral science, computer science, engineering principles, and a significant amount of empathy. I desire to solve the problem by educating myself in these subjects through formal education and volunteering. Creating people-friendly technological systems is how I hope to make the world a brighter place with a career in software engineering.
