Bio

I am a determined young woman who enjoys reading, writing, and sports. When I was 6 years old I was removed from my current living situation with my biological mother and my siblings and I was relocated to live with my aunt. Since then, all three of us have lived here together and attended school in the Marion Center District. I currently am involved in clubs including the Student Council, ATHENA, Future Business Leaders of America, Tri M Music Honor Society, Impromptu, and Envirothon. This year I was asked to be a part of my county's Junior Chamber of Commerce, and over the course of the school year, students from the county came together and provided information with Indiana COunty to provide a better living and work environment for upcoming generations in the workforce. I am very involved in my school as well as my community. I volunteer in one of the elementary schools in my district in reading and writing, as well as physical education. I love sports and I enjoy watching and being a part of them. I am an athlete, who has encountered some rough patches being comfortable with myself. In the future, I plan to attend post-secondary education and major in journalism. My ultimate career goal is to become a sports broadcaster. I want to also compete in some array of fitness competitions as well, whether it be the Crossfit Games or American Ninja Warrior, I want to continue my habits and lifestyle for the rest of my life. And in my future profession, I look forward to working with athletes and helping them to thrive.

    Bold Wise Words Scholarship
Over the course of my life, I've been exposed to much wisdom, from countless sources. The most wise phrase I have vere come across, were words of the Lord. “Faith, it does make things easy, It makes them possible” My faith has always been a big part of my life and I walk with the Lord. But as a girl growing up in society today, I realize that the path to success can be closely related to trying to bestride a scooter in an abrasive landscape. These wise words inspired me to chase after my goals not only in athletics , but also to the motivation behind my numerous late nights used to pound out essays or study for exams, all leading to my goal of becoming a sports medicine physician in the future. During hardships that I consider surrendering myself to my masses of school work, I recall the words. It is a translation of Luke1:37 from the Bible. I remind myself to not be averse to hard work and remember my goals . The road to success may not be smoothly paved, but it is surely not guarded. The brevity of life indicates that we should make the absolute most of our lives.. The quote says that faith makes things possible, and I find that to be ever so true in my day-to-day life. Although the road may be difficult, it is attainable. In essence, I ambulate with “Faith, it does make things easy, it makes them possible.” It has motivated me to walk in my faith and continue to progress in my studies and press toward the apotheosis of my life. These words have been a key motivator in the past and will continue to be my motivation as I pursue further in my life.

Sitting together with my teammates’, heads all bowed and hands clenched so tight to one another, our bones aches. Awaiting what would come to be known as one of the most unforgettable moments in our lives. Waiting in abeyance, praying for the best result. Did we earn what we sweated the entire season for? Seconds passing as hours. A dead silent arena, “...And now, your 2019 D2 Summit Champions…” “Adrenaline at a peak, hearts beating as if preparing to eradicate from our very flesh. And then we heard, “TAI Black Ice!” Roars of excitement swallow the arena, and we spring to our feet and embrace each other in hugs as we remove ourselves from the previous concatenation. Overjoy results in tears rushing down our blush-caked cheeks, and we try to allow the emotions to spew out us. The awaited time has arrived and we were blessed with the outcome. While this was ever such a staple in my life, the motivation behind it all can be found in 12 words that are joined together to create a quote that forever and will be my motivation to pursue my goals. “Faith, it does make things easy, It makes them possible” My faith has always been a big part of my life and I walk with the Lord. But as a teenage girl growing up in the society that we live in today, I realize that the path to success can be closely related to trying to bestride a scooter in an abrasive gravel driveway. This quote has inspired me to chase after my goals not only in cheerleading, but I can accredit it to the motivation behind my numerous late nights I’ve used to pound out essays or study for unit exams, all leading to my goal of becoming a sports medicine physician in the future. Tim Noakes, not a familiar name like Albert Einstein, but certainly a scientist of significant accomplishments. Noakes is a sports scientist who blazed the trail for sports and exercise science; accomplishing several milestones along the way. He is my favorite scientist because I strive to become a primary care sports medicine physician in the future, and without the discoveries and research of Noakes, the goal I'm striving for would not be possible.
Brynn Elliott "Tell Me I’m Pretty" Scholarship
“I was built this way for a reason, so I’m going to use it.”, a quote by Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles. Ever so often, female athletes are portrayed in the media as personages whose only purpose is to model for the cover of Sports Illustrated, and their body image digresses from the sports accomplishments. In turn, causing for many young female athletes to feel diffidence in their bodies. Fortunately, there are women in today’s society who are shattering those boundaries and making it clear that females athletes can be both beautiful and strong, without the seductive stereotypes of the media. Women who are fulfilling distinguished achievements in their sport, and showing the world that being an athlete is more than just posing in swimsuits for a picture blazing the trail for so many young athletes in the future, including myself. I look up to all women in sports and as an athlete myself, I aspire to be just like them. That being noted three women are preeminent in my eyes and have been my role models for many years, those being: Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles, American Ninja Warrior 5 time National FInalist, Meagan Martin, and American Crossfit athlete, Julie Foucher. I admire these women because of how they present themselves. And how they are not ashamed of their muscular build, and they embrace it. Each of them influenced the person that I have come to be and the person who I am striving to be. For as long as I can remember, I have been very active in gymnastics and competitive cheerleading, and in succession, I started to develop a more toned and muscular body. This depleted my confidence and grew very self-conscious of my arms. I lived with a constant over-awareness of my arms and felt like I would be judged, for not looking at the other girls in my class. The issue extended so far, that I had once worn a long sleeve sweater to a school mixer, rather than a dress like peers. The constant idea of always fitting in was becoming corrosive to self-esteem. It wasn’t long after that when I was introduced to a program called American Ninja Warrior, and my mindset was almost immediately everted. To see these women who had similar body builds to mine and still were beautiful and doing what they loved. Meagan Martin, encouraged me to not be ashamed of my body and be confident, just by the way she carries herself. Simone Biles has been such an inspiration in my life not only does she walk proudly in her body but she also is an explosion of energy and positivity. I struggled with body confidence and feeling comfortable with my stature, and I often felt like I had to hide my athletic attributes for the sake of fitting in. Julie Foucher is an absolute princess. In her entire career in Crossfit, she has never finished outside of the top five. The way she works hard for her body and is proud of her accomplishments, the person I strive to be. Not being indisposed by the way I look. All of these women are absolutely beautiful in their bodies and embrace their athletic figures, and this has definitely impacted my mindset over the years, giving me the clemency to wear what I please and present myself as a strong female. Ultimately, these morals of self-worth and confidence have become a cadence in my life, and they will stay with me as I pursue my career in sports medicine later in my life, as well as potentially a career in American Ninja Warrior or Crossfit. I will stand with these lessons in my job as a physician because I will have the confidence to work with athletes who may also be going through what I have gone through, and assist them in knowing that are beautiful and embracing their body type. In addition, the moral of beauty, while being humble and not falling under seductive stereotypes of the media will be a lesson that I take along into my future. Knowing that beauty comes in many forms and not every woman will or should look like a Sports Illustrated model. I have been driven to be the person I am today, by their empowerment. Athletism is most definitely endurable to anyone who sets their mind to it. I have discovered that I too can dominate stereotypes and predominate the workforce with both muscles and mascara.
