    Understory Studio Conservation Scholarship
As a woman who is interested in the science field, it is painfully obvious there is not enough representation for women in science. It is something I commonly think about when my classes are dominated by men, my science educators have all been men, and much of the information I receive inside and outside the classroom related to science has to do with male-dominated research and facts. Many areas in the world that need conservation are not being touched simply because there are not enough people able to do the necessary work. The knowledge that many women or other under-represented groups do not attempt to join the conservation field simply because there is not proper representation is something I want to help change. As someone from Colorado I love being in the outdoors, however, I have seen first-hand the impacts of climate change and what happens when there are no conservation efforts occurring. I hope to move and work on Central American conservation using the BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology I am currently pursuing. There is so much amazing biodiversity in Central America that can be enjoyed and protected by more people willing to put in the work.
