Bio

My goals are to make an impact on the way therapy and kids receive help for their mental health. My dream is to become a school psychologist and work with kids, and help them develop under safe and healthy learning and school environments. I am currently a student at McMurry University, I am a dual sport collegiate athlete in Swimming and Cheerleading. I am also members of clubs like Delta Beta Epsilon (Social Club) and Psi Chi (Psychology Honors Club). I have been labeled as a student who is considered homeless by the state with documentation proving this, in order to receive benefits from the state and I have relied on financial aid and scholarships to help fund my education. I am thankful for you review over my profile, as any consideration for a scholarship means everything to me. Thank you and God bless!

One quality/characteristic I value in myself is the ability to work hard and adapt quickly. When I was 17 years old I was kicked out of my home, I came from a broken family and an abusive situation. At that age I was unsure if I was going to be able to be in high school and also support myself. I was living in my car at the time. I was able to meet with my counselor and a few other district staff that helped me achieve benefits to be able to attend school and work a good amount to have enough money to support myself. I was eating once a day, because it was all I could afford. I was going to swim practice in the mornings where I was able to shower before school, and was eating in the cafeteria in the mornings when I had the time which was rare because of practice, but most typically during lunch because that food was free, provided to me by the Free Student Lunches Act. This situation taught me how to work hard for everything I have now. I adapted quickly and was able to bounce back in a few years and am proud to say that I am the woman I am today because I made myself that way. I was able to pick myself up out of a horrible mental state, and financial situation to become a college student who is succeeding well in all my endeavors. This will continue to benefit me throughout my life because I have learned qualities and experienced situations many of my peers would not relate to. My characteristics of hard work and quick adaptability will continue to motivate me to strive for my success. Quickly adapting has allowed me to be a optimistic person that allows no obstacles to overcome me or my ability to thrive. My ability to work hard and perform my best in everything that I set out to do, has made me realize the benefits of hard work and the rewards that come with that. Obtaining these qualities through great trail has changed who I am as a person and will forever motivate me to succeed. I hope to give this gift to others in what I chose to do in the future, and change young hearts and minds that their circumstances does not dictate their success. I value my characteristics of hard work and being able to adapt in times of tribulation because they have given me the ability to build a life for myself I only imagined in my head, and will continue to provide that to me on my walk of life.
