My name is Andrea, and I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Computer Engineering at UC Merced. I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States with my parents when I was around ten years old. As a first-generation college student, earning my degree represents more than a personal achievement. It is an opportunity to honor my family's sacrifices and make them proud. Throughout my academic journey, I have remained actively involved both on and off campus. While attending Santa Barbara City College, I participated in Gamers United and the Photography Club, where I built meaningful connections and explored my interests outside the classroom. After transferring to UC Merced, I continued to challenge myself by participating in martial arts, which strengthened my discipline, resilience, and commitment to personal growth. In addition to being a full-time student, I also work full-time at The Spine and Orthopedic Center as an EMR Customization Developer and Project Manager. In this role, I collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to customize electronic medical record systems, manage projects, and develop solutions that improve clinical workflows and patient care. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule with full-time employment has strengthened my time management, problem-solving, and leadership skills while reinforcing my determination to achieve my educational and professional goals.
