It’s not that I just enjoy school so much but I enjoy being intelligent. Not only is making good grades exciting but being able to retain and use the knowledge to my advantage makes me feel good.
Although South Oak Cliff seems to make people believe that just because we’re in the middle of South Dallas, that we aren’t about much, or that the students here are all just misbehaved. In my defense, we do maintain our fair share of hardheaded children, as well as every other school. South Oak Cliff has inspired me to once to become better because of our reputation we set for ourselves as African-American individuals in the “hood”. This place has made me want to prove to the people that feel as though going to a “school like SOC” doesn’t stop you from being successful. Being here just shows me how little of my life I’ve experienced right now there’s so much more for me to learn educationally and world wide.
I plan to make a positive impact on my community by showing little kids from rough places or children that maybe don’t attend the nicest or smartest school that you can steal make it as far as you like, regardless. A teacher wants told me. “ you only good because you’re in a sh***y place” and it kind of hurt my feelings, but I’m doing what I can being in the situation I’m in, plus I only learn what y’all teach me in the first place. My point being regardless of what you have do the best you possibly can to support yourself and your situation. When we accept success isn’t going to be easy and doesn’t happen, overnight will be able to more so mentally prepare for the anonymous obstacles that are head of us.
One reason education, and my future is so important to me is because I want to be something in life. I plan on having a career that I’m not only make good income from, but that I can enjoy as well. I pray that I can impact my nieces and nephews, and even my own children one day. I wish to be in a position to wear. I’m intelligent/knowledgeable enough to inform others and guide them to one day make a difference . being African-American and a young lady I wish to impact society in a positive way by showing them that the new generation isn’t all going to waste.
