A Health Science Scholarship from the Ministry of Health in Singapore afforded me the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy at the University of Kansas. Embedded within the scholarship contract was a commitment to serve in Singapore's healthcare sector, a responsibility I embraced with fervor and dedication. Over the course of nine years, I immersed myself in the challenging realm of Respiratory Therapy, ascending the ranks to assume leadership as Head of Department amidst the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Committed to fostering growth and empowerment, I dedicated myself to mentoring marginalized respiratory therapists from underrepresented backgrounds, facilitating their integration and professional development in a foreign land. Navigating the complexities of seeking and receiving help amidst societal expectations was a humbling journey. Overcoming the stigma associated with seeking assistance, I discovered the transformative power of humility and resilience.
