Lydia Bulger
Bio
Hello! My name is Lydia. I graduated high school with a 4.0 Gpa and a 27 on the ACT with a 33 on the reading section. I am a freshman at Jefferson state community college keeping my 4.0 Gpa there too throughout this semester and previous dual enrollment. I am a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math honors society and have been invited to more such as the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society that I plan to accept.
I was homeschooled from the beginning of my school years by my sweet mother. I never stepped foot into a classroom except for taking the ACT and this freshman year of college. This proved to be very beneficial to me as it taught me my patience, persistence, determination, and gave me a sense of confidence in my self.
I am a very determined young woman. If I set a goal I will do everything in my power to accomplish it. Whether that be maintaining my grades, writing the perfect essay, studying my Bible, hunting every day for weeks to finally get the 11 point buck I had been hunting, or anything else I put my mind to.
My goal right now is to graduate college with good grades and enter the workforce as a nurse and work to support and help the lives around me. In the future, I want to have my own family and become a mother. I want to be a faithful Christian throughout my life and be remembered as a virtuous woman.

Determined. That’s how you could describe me. I am a determined, young woman entering college as a first generation student.
My mother homeschooled me from the very beginning. I always did my best in school and pushed myself to achieve the grades I wanted. This self pressure started very young. My father would come home to tiny, second grade me crying my eyes out over a 95% on a test. I have always wanted to achieve the best that I could.
If I ever set my mind to something I will do my best to accomplish it. One way I might can prove this is with a story. Last hunting season, I decided I wanted to hunt down a buck and hang it on the wall in my family’s house. I hunted every single day for months. I went whether the sun was out or if it was pouring down rain. Thirty degree weather couldn’t stop me. A tornado passed 5 miles from my house and I still went that day. Eventually, within the last couple of weeks of the season, I got the buck that I had been desperately hunting for. It has been at the taxidermy for the past few months and I should be hanging it on our living room wall in the next week or so.
I plan on using this same determination during my educational endeavors. I not only want to pass my classes but I want to pass them with flying colors. I not only want to meet expectations but I want exceed them.
This scholarship would be a huge help to me. Not only am I determined but I have also developed a sense of independence. I do not want to have to depend on my parents to supply my financial needs for a higher education. I do not want to place that burden on them. This is why I have turned to scholarships. I would use the money given me to further my education and achieve my goals. Tuition, classes, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees add up quickly. The money help me cover a lot of those things. It would go to helping me achieve my goal of working in the medical field. I want to help others in this world and I believe this is a good way to do it. I want to be a positive light in this world of darkness. The help that this scholarship would provide will most definitely go to my efforts of making this world a better place.
Any amount of help would be deeply appreciated and I am grateful for the opportunity to even apply to scholarships like this. I know many in this world are not as fortunate as me. I hope to help with that in the future and give back those around me.

The norms of society has placed an ongoing pressure on us all. Everyone feels this pressure in some way or another. One of the major expectations of society seems to be attending college. Neither of my parents graduated from college and they are doing just fine.I believe that nobody should attend college just to adhere to societal expectations, but instead they should apply themselves on the basis of achieving their dream career. Don’t do it because everyone is doing it, but do it because you want to.
I believe that my view points on many aspects of life make me a non-traditional student. I believe in hard work and dedication to achieve our goals. I do not expect everything to be handed to me on a silver platter as a majority of this generation does. I will be a first generation college graduate, Lord willing. As I previously mentioned neither of my parents graduated from college. I can see from their success in life that college is not a necessity for everyone. I want to graduate as a first generation student because I have a drive and a goal.
I am driven by my desire to achieve my goals. I want to do my best in the playing field called college. I not only want to pass - but I want to pass with flying colors. I not only want to meet expectations - but I want to exceed them. My desire is to earn a career in the medical field. I want to help others and be a light in this dark world. This is my ultimate goal, I just want to be a help. This scholarship would help put me closer to achieving my goals. I do not want to depend on my parents for financial support. They have done so much for me as it is! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Career Search Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have considered many different career options. When I was little, I would bounce between the ideas of becoming a teacher, a doctor, a chef, a baker, owning my own little business, etc. Finally within the past few years, I have decided that I want to pursue something in the medical field. I love the idea of becoming a nurse or an ultrasound technician or something like that.
I believe that the field of medicine will be a fulfilling career for me. This is because of the joy I get from helping others around me. I want to help, I want to make this world a better place.
Have you ever felt absolutely terrible and walked into a doctor’s office to find the kindest and sweetest nurse there. They lift you up and sympathize with your condition and just make you smile and feel better. That’s what I want to do! I want to be that person! I desire to lift others up in their dark and miserable moments that all of us experience throughout life.
Anything to do with medicine and the care of others just absolutely fascinates me. Whenever something happens in my family I am usually always right there. The other night my sister cut her finger open and ran to me to help her. I want to learn how to help. I want to learn how to diagnose different things, I want to be able to do stitches, I just want to help people in their time of need.
The career is important to me but at the same time I don’t want to be one of those people who just come into the room only to get the job done. I want to go above and beyond that. I want to do the job and do it well while bringing joy and comfort to those I am helping at the same time. I don’t want to come into the room all serious and unsympathetic only to do the bare minimum of my and hurriedly get out of there.I want to go above and beyond for my patients and do my absolute best. All the while bringing positivity and peace to the patient as I do my job.
I am passionate about this and I am so excited to begin my studies so that I can jump into the workforce as soon as possible. I can’t wait to help those in need and hopefully be a positive and influential light in this dark and negative world that we live in today. I want to begin working to make this world better. Even if it’s just a little bit at a time, I want to do my part.
I Can Do Anything Scholarship
I want to be a help to this world by accomplishing my desire of becoming a worker in the medical field after working hard through college and finishing with good grades; I want to have my own family and be inspiration to them and many others, showing them that anything is possible if we put our mind to it.
Book Lovers Scholarship
I have read hundreds of books over the course of my 17 years and have explored multiple genres. After all this time, if I had to recommend any book to everyone in this world I would go back to my roots. I would recommend the Bible.
The Bible is a central part of my life and has shaped me into the person I am today. There are so many life lessons that we can learn from it and that I would love to share with this world.
There are so many interesting things about the Bible that can intrigue everyone. With the multiple writers we are able to see each of their own writing styles. We learn the history and origin of our world. We read stories of great battles, kings and queens, the beginning and ends of nations and kingdoms, we read stories of strong and empowering women, and most important we read the commandments of our Lord.
From the Bible we find out salvation. We learn of the afterlife and of the things we need to do to prepare for it so that we are not lost.
The world today needs the Bible. For the majority of people, God is no longer central to our lives. I believe this world can be made into an amazing place if the world would put God first again.
From studying the Bible the world could become a kinder place. People could learn the importance of kindness and treating others how we ourselves would want to be treated. We could build a better, loving future for the next generations. Where the darkness of this world and the terrible things that go on now, no longer take place.

Who knew how beneficial being homeschooled would be for me! I was able to learn so many important things that are no longer central in today’s life style.
When I became school age, my parents decided that they would not be sending me to the terrible schools in our area. My mother began teaching me at home and continued to do so for years.
We eventually moved and got into a better school district. Even though it was better than where we had been previously, my parents decided to continue homeschooling.
The world today is continuously drifting away from God. Being homeschooled allowed us to focus on learning important things that public schools no longer taught their students. We were able to study the Bible.
I have learned so much from this book and I have realized how important it is to lead my life according to its teachings. I have learned the values of obedience, patience, love, hard work, compassion, and so much more. I look at the writings of the Bible as lessons that we all could learn from.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 - “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” - is a verse that inspires me. I am very determined to fulfill my goals. Once I set my hand to it, I do it with my might.
One of my goals now is to graduate from college. I will be the first of my family to do this. I would love to leave this chapter of my life as a worker in the medical field. I want to help others and be a positive part of their lives.
I plan on using the things I have learned and continue to learn from the Bible as I walk the road of college. Then, Lord willing, the paths of work beyond that.
I draw hope in the verse, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”
( Hebrews 13:5 ). I believe that God is there for His children and will help those who serve Him throughout their lives. I know that he will never leave me and that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheth me” (Philippians 4:13). I have faith that “…with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
The Bible is a central part of my life. I learned so much from it, as I hope this essay has proved. These verses are some of the most important things that I have learned in Life.
From studying the Bible, I have learned the things necessary to lead a life pleasing to our Lord and I have gained the confidence needed to go through life with the Lord by my side.
