FinalistBio
My Name is Luke Robbins and I am currently a senior at Lemont Township High School in Lemont, Illinois. This fall I plan on studying Business at The Ohio State University. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what I'll do with my college education just yet. I'd love to say I have everything figured out and a clear plan, but the truth is, I wrestle with this uncertainty every day. At times I feel the best path for me would be becoming an entrepreneur where I can work at my own pace, create something unique, and make a lasting difference in the world around me.
Although I am not exactly sure of my career yet, I do know is that I'll make a difference—I’ll be great, and one day, you'll hear about me. If I had it all mapped out, I probably wouldn’t need to go to college; I could just dive right in and start making things happen. But for now, I need to keep pushing myself, figuring out my path, and finding the way I can truly make an impact.

More Than a Dream
I come from a family where nothing was ever handed to us. We are not wealthy, and we do not live in a big house with extra everything. But what we do have is love, hard work, and a belief in each other. My parents taught me that showing up, staying kind, and giving your best effortevery single day is what builds a real future. That foundation is where my dreams started.
I dream of a life where I can give back. A life where I am not just working to make money, but working to make a difference. I want to use business and technology to help communities like mine, where opportunities can be limited but potential is endless. I want to help create tools like mental health apps, educational resources, and access to clean energy that make life better for people who have always had to fight harder for the same things.
A lot of my passion for helping others comes from my own struggles. I have dealt with anxiety for most of my life, especially during and after the pandemic. At one point, I felt completely disconnected like I was going through the motions but not really living. It took a lot for me to ask for help. But doing so helped me realize just how powerful support systems are and how rare it is for some people to have one. That is one of the biggest reasons I want to be part of the solution: to be someone who creates spaces where others feel heard, safe, and supported.
Sports have played a big role in shaping who I am. Basketball, especially, taught me how to stay patient when things are not going your way. I have spent time on the bench. I have felt overlooked. But I never stopped working. I never gave up on myself. And eventually, all that waiting paid off. That experience taught me that dreams do not always happen fast, but they are worth chasing, even when the path is long and hard.
College is a big step for me. I will be the first in my family to go to a school like Ohio State. That means everything to me. It is not just about getting a degree. It is about honoring the sacrifices my family made and building something that lasts. I want to grow as a leader. I want to learn how to build things that matter, companies, movements, and ideas that help people live better lives. I want to help fix things that feel broken in the world, especially around mental health, education, and equity.
I am passionate about my dreams because I know what it is like to struggle. I know what it is like to feel small. But I also know what it feels like to fight your way through that and come out stronger. I am not afraid of hard work. I have lived it. And I am ready to keep going, not just for me, but for the people I want to lift up along the way.
This is not just my dream. It is my plan.
Freddie L Brown Sr. Scholarship
It was Easter morning, and the sun had just started to peek over the horizon; it was casting a warm glow into the cozy bedrooms. The kids stirred awake with excitement. As they jumped out of bed, their hearts were racing. They dashed to their brightly decorated baskets nestled in the living room by the fireplace. Their minds buzzed with anticipation for the usual bounty of vibrant jellybeans, decadent chocolates, and intricately painted hidden eggs. As they reached for their treasures, their eyes widened in surprise at the sight before them. In addition to the expected treats, they found freshly made brownies still in their tray, covered with tin foil to keep that deliciousness in.
On the colorful, decorated tray of brownies sat a note carefully placed by the Easter Bunny for the excited children. The whimsical letter instructed them that they could dig into the brownies only after finding all of their hidden eggs, heightening their anticipation. As the children ran around searching for the hidden eggs, they could hardly contain themselves, imagining the rich, chocolatey aroma of the brownies, their perfect square shapes, and that mouthwatering scent wafting through the air, tempting them even more.
Finally, it was time. All of the kids had found their hidden eggs, and they rushed toward the kitchen, eyes sparkling with delight at the sight of the tray. Eagerly, they peeled back the shiny tin foil, hearts racing in expectation. But to their shock and confusion, what lay beneath was not the delightful, gooey brownies they had envisioned. Instead, the tray was filled with a whimsical array of large, hard cardboard letters shaped like the letter "E." The Easter Bunny had tricked them into believing they were chocolate brownies! The kids stared at the letters, each holding up an "E" like some sort of bizarre badge of honor.
The revelation brought laughter and surprise as Easter morning took an unexpectedly fun twist!
“Wait,” said Timmy, “what day is it?” It was April 1st. Easter had fallen on April Fools' Day this year.
“April Fools!” Timmy yelled, realizing that the Easter Bunny had pulled the ultimate prank on them. “The Bunny tricked us!”
Everyone laughed, well, after the initial confusion. The idea of the Easter Bunny leaving giant brown "E’s" instead of brownies was hilariously funny. They all gathered around and began joking about how they were going to make "E-smoothies" or "E-popsicles" with their brown E's.
“Hey, at least it’s a good lesson in the importance of reading labels,” said Timmy, holding up an "E" like a trophy.
This is a true story. A couple of years ago, I woke up early and prepared a tray of brown "E's" for my family to find on Easter morning. It was the only time that Easter and April Fools' Day fell on the same day, and I couldn't resist taking advantage of the opportunity.
Rod Tucci Memorial Scholarship
I feel like I have struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember. It is like carrying a constant weight on my shoulders. It feels like I'm always on edge or worrying about things that might never happen. School is especially hard, with pressure to keep up academically and socially and feeling like I am not enough. I know many people feel anxious, but for me, it feels isolating at times. No one can see what is happening inside, and it makes everything seem harder to face.
When COVID hit, it made everything worse. Being stuck at home for months felt like I was in a bubble, cut off from the world. I got used to the isolation, and when it was time to go back to school, it was so difficult. I was only communicating via online tools such as Facetime. When I finally saw friends again in person it felt awkward. I did not know how to interact like I used to. It was like the world had moved on without me, and I had to catch up. That whole experience showed me how important mental health is and how small things like sending a message or offering a smile can make a big difference.
Mental health and suicide prevention are things I care deeply about, especially given the pressures my generation faces. Growing up in a world dominated by social media makes it hard to feel good about yourself. Social media often distorts reality, showing only the best moments and making it easy to compare ourselves to others. On top of that, online bullying can make it feel like there is no escape. I know I am not the only one who bottles up their feelings, and the stigma surrounding mental health makes it harder to talk to people about the struggles I am facing.
These experiences have motivated me to make a positive impact on mental health. One of the first things I want to do is help reduce the stigma around mental illness. I want to create an environment where people can talk about their struggles without fear of judgment. By combining entrepreneurship with mental health awareness, I hope to create businesses that not only succeed but also help tackle the mental health crisis.
I believe technology can play a huge role in this mission. Tools like AI-powered chatbots or apps that track mood and provide coping strategies could make a difference. These innovations could provide immediate support to those in crisis, especially for people who are too afraid to ask for help. As I pursue my business studies, I want to learn how to use technology to create accessible, stigma-free mental health support for everyone. Through AI platforms or virtual therapy, I want to make mental health care more accessible. I also want to help people feel comfortable seeking support.
College is important to me because it is a chance to learn, grow, and challenge myself. It's a fresh start, a place where I can meet new people and build the skills I need to create the kind of future I want.
In the end I want to be known not just for the technology I create but for the positive impact I bring. I want to be known for the person who uses tech to open doors, create opportunities, and makes a real difference. As I continue on my path toward becoming an innovator who makes a lasting impact, this scholarship will be a vital step in helping me reach my goals without all of the debt that college can bring.
Big Picture Scholarship
The movie that has impacted my life the most is Good Will Hunting. Since I am about to go to college this fall, I reflect on how much I can identify with this movie, especially at this time in my life. Good Will Hunting is the tale of Will Hunting, a young prodigy with a checkered past who keeps his talents behind a tough exterior and his own self-doubt. Despite his genius, Will's emotional scars and refusal to confront his inner demons render him immobile. His own path to self-acceptance and healing through his therapist, Sean, is an eye-opener that it is okay to struggle and seek help when we need it.
It was an honor to witness Will slowly open his eyes and learn to trust the people around him. At 18, with having to undergo a massive change like going off to college, I have been doing a lot of thinking about my own growth and what it is to truly grow up. Like Will, I have had my share of moments where I was unsure of what lay ahead for me and was afraid to take that leap of faith into the unknown, with the added pressure of being successful academically and personally. The way Will reconciles with the past and embraces the future has given me the courage to not shy away from my own errors but to face them and learn from them. One of the strongest scenes in the movie is Will's session with his therapist, Sean.
It makes me realize how important it is to allow yourself to lean on other individuals for assistance, especially if you are troubled. It does not come easily to be vulnerable, and sometimes it takes another person to help you realize your potential and worth. That lingered with me because, especially as I start college, I know that I cannot do everything on my own. I need to be open to asking for help and allow myself to be guided by other individuals whether that would be from professors, peers, or mentors.
Good Will Hunting also taught me that success is not what you do on paper, be it grades, professional success, or other external measures of success. What actually matters is self-improvement and staying true to oneself. Will's life experience made me realize that sometimes the most powerful obstacles of life are those that we set for ourselves and it is only overcoming them with humility and bravery that ultimately leads to success. It is all about standing up to your fears and believing in yourself and in your own worth, even though it may appear as if the whole world is stacked against you.
As I get ready to start this new chapter in my life, I plan on carrying these lessons along with me. College will be full of challenges and growth, and I know I will have moments when I am lost or uncertain. But Good Will Hunting has made me realize that it is okay to not be having it all together and that self-discovery is on par with any type of academic success. I would like to learn vulnerability, rely on others when I need to, and never lose sight of the fact that success is a question of growth, not perfection. Good Will Hunting is reminds me that no matter where we are from or how bad things may get, there is always the possibility of growing, of changing, and of forging our own path.
Anthony Bruder Memorial Scholarship
Being an basketball athlete has changed my life in several ways. I mainly play basketball now, but I have also played football, baseball, and soccer in the past. These sports have taught me about being focused and working hard. Every time I get on that court, I want to get better. I feel this dedication to improving myself guides me in everything I do, encouraging me to reach my goals in sports and in life. Being part of a team showed me the power of teamwork. I have learned how to communicate well and support others.
Sometimes, I would be on the bench for the entirety of the game, which was an incredibly challenging experience. It is hard to watch the action unfold on the court, players executing the plays we had so painstakingly perfected, and knowing that I was not directly contributing. The thrill of getting on the court after working so diligently to be part of the team only served to increase my frustration.
Even during the stretches of games when I was not playing as much, I learned a lot. I had to stay focused, keep cheering on my teammates, and offer encouragement when they made plays. I could not let my energy drop just because I was not on the court. I knew my moment would come, and I had to be ready for it. I realized that being part of a team is not just about the time you spend in the game. It is about valuing every role, even the ones that do not get the spotlight.
I finally got to play in every game my senior year, and it felt like everything came full circle. After spending some time on the bench, getting to play in every game was incredibly satisfying. All the hours of practice, the waiting, and the frustration finally paid off. I appreciated every minute on the court even more, knowing what it took to get there. It reminded me that patience and perseverance really do pay off, and the tough moments make the victories so much sweeter.
From this I learned that not every opportunity comes immediately, and sometimes, you have to wait your turn. But that does not mean you stop working hard or lose your drive. Even when I was sitting out, I knew every practice and every moment with my teammates mattered. It taught me how important it is to support others and stay positive, no matter the situation.
Setting goals and working hard to achieve them is second nature to me now. In sports, you are always working toward something, whether it is improving a skill or winning a game. That mindset has carried over into my life, and I approach goals with the same determination. Balancing sports with school helped me get better at managing my time. I learned how to prioritize and stay on top of everything, which helps me now in other areas of my life.
Outside of basketball, I love helping out in the community, hanging out with my friends, and spending time with my family. Those moments give me a sense of balance and remind me of what really matters in life. I also hope to play intramural sports in college to keep my passion for basketball alive. Even though my competitive days may be over, I still want to stay connected to the game, keep learning, and keep having fun with it. It is a huge part of who I am, and I want to carry that with me as I move into the next chapter of my life.

Bear Fan Scholarship
The perfect ending for The Bear would be a resolution that ties together the characters' growth, the future of the restaurant, and the themes of family, passion, and overcoming hardship. Here is what I thought could be a good ending.
With every episode, Carmy has been under psychological pressure, going through the trauma and stress of maintaining a high-end restaurant while redefining the family business. The fitting end can be him finding inner peace and direction, both in the restaurant and in his life.
After months of rebuilding, innovation, and overcoming obstacles, the restaurant now a mix of high-end dining with elements of the local family diner vibe finally becomes a sustainable, thriving business. Carmy’s vision for the restaurant fully comes to life, representing both his high culinary standards and the lessons he learned from his family, mentors, and his team.
All of the core staff, including Sydney, Marcus, and Richie, have a personal development and success moment, illustrating how far they have come from the beginning of the series when they were all messed up. They are now a close-knit team who deeply care for each other, functioning with trust, respect, and dedication. Sydney, for example, could become a creative leader in her own right, broadening her area of responsibility and finding fulfillment in what she does. Richie could also learn to put aside his self-destructive tendencies and find meaning in life beyond Carmy's being his cousin.
Carmy and Sydney's dynamic is a well-balanced, professional one. Though romantic tension is still present in the background, it is not the focal point of the series finale. They are working partners, and their professional relationship is one of respect and cooperation, which foretells good things for both their futures.
Carmy confronts his inner demons through therapy and family forgiveness. He realizes that while his passion for cooking remains, he also must prioritize his mental health and relationships. By the series' end, he learns to depend on others and release the self-sabotaging burden he has carried. There is a sentimental but good reconciliation between Carmy and his family, particularly with the heritage of his late brother. Even though the past cannot be erased, there is a feeling of understanding, closure, and even healing for Carmy so that he can move on. This could be represented in a dinner setting at the restaurant with the family, where Carmy and his wait staff eat together in harmony.
Emotional Fulfillment The Bear has been deeply rooted in unvarnished human struggles, mental illness, family dynamics, addiction, ambition, and trauma. A satisfying conclusion would be closure without disparaging the fact that the work is ongoing, especially when it comes to personal growth. While the series has centered on violent turmoil and real-world hardships, a conclusion in which the characters are making progress (not towards some fantasy utopia) seems realistic and true to the spirit of the show. The finale leaves all the doors not closed to potential future progress and conflict. Carmy may have reached equilibrium for the moment, but as with any restaurant or individual journey, the future will bring new challenges and decisions.
This type of ending would ring well with audiences, recognizing character development while presenting a promise of what is to come.
Chappell Roan Superfan Scholarship
Chappell Roan's music has impacted me so profoundly, and that is the reason I fully endorse her career.
Her music is so unfiltered and authentic, and I relate to the vulnerability that she puts into her music. She talks about real stuff, emotional intelligence, and personal development in a manner that makes me feel as if somebody gets me. Her music has been a source of solace in times of trouble, and she even influenced me to be more open by accepting my own truth without worrying that another human being would criticize it. There is something magical that takes place when she loses herself in a song as if she sings to me personally.
I also love her unique voice. Chappell blends pop with hints of country, rock, and indie in a sound that is fresh and original. She isn't afraid to take risks and break the mold with various genres and kinds of music, and that's what makes her stand out from the crowd in the industry. I'm with her because she's doing something new, something different, and that kind of artistic courage is something that I think is just incredible.
The emotional depth in her music is really what I adore the most. Anything she writes about, whether it's love, self-esteem, or heartbreak, her songs have a way of taking me through sorting out my own. There are songs to inspire and motivate, others that are contemplative and reflective, but all of which allow me to connect with my own feelings more. To be able to support her career is to help support the type of music that touches the heart and soul.
It has been incredible to witness her grow as an artist too. From the start of her career to present day, I've watched her grow, find her voice, and challenge herself artistically. It's so great to watch someone grow so much and find their own voice. I'm excited to be along for the ride as she continues to climb in the industry, with still so much to offer.
I believe in Chappell Roan because she speaks to me on a personal level. She is not only an artist who creates great music but also someone who is genuine and emotionally intelligent through her music. I believe in her and what she can accomplish, and I am excited to see what is in store for her.
GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
One of the most powerful lyrics from Olivia Rodrigo's album GUTS that truly resonates with my life as a teenager is from the song "All-American Bitch":
"I'm so tired of being picked apart; I'm so tired of being the perfect one."
This lyric truly resonates with the overwhelming pressure that most teenagers face these days. It speaks not only to the judgment we get from society, but also to the judgment from those who are nearest and dearest to us family, friends, and peers. As we sail through the turbulent waters of young adulthood, we find ourselves struggling with attempting to make ourselves in a world that appears to beckon us into conformity. Here, owning our truth is essential because it reminds us that we are deserving by nature, even when society doesn't always approve.
In this age of social media and constant comparison, young people remain in a position of competition constantly to measure up to an increasingly lengthy list of expectations, either to excel at school, meet a specific rank, or maintain idealized standards of behavior and appearance. Attempts typically serve only to create the feeling of insufficiency because detractors within and outside render a constant impression that one will never be enough. The song lyrics express the mental exhaustion of attempting to live up to these unrealistic expectations, as they refer to the strife of needing to be accepted and needing to abandon the need for perfection in a world that seemingly idolizes it.
The lyric addresses the wastage of perpetuating an image of perfection, something that is often imposed by outside forces over our own genuine selves. We are teenagers, yet still discovering who we really are, but the world somehow makes us feel like it places huge pressure on us to present the world with ideal versions of ourselves in terms of academics, physical appearance, and social life. The ever-present need for validation leaves us with a painful dilemma: wanting to be authentic and wanting to fit in.
Rodrigo's lyric takes such internal conflict and conveys the emotional tension of having to present a perfect self while struggling with self-identity and self-esteem simultaneously. It grabs the dilemma between embracing flaws and vulnerabilities and being accepted by others perpetually. Ultimately, it is a positive reminder that everyone is allowed to feel drained by these pressures and that they are a feeling shared by many others. The pursuit of an unobtainable "perfect" existence is a pursuit of illusion, and the disillusionment that follows can be colossal; identifying that can be the start of genuine self-acceptance.
LeBron James Fan Scholarship
I consider LeBron James one of the all-time greats of basketball. His unmatched blend of athleticism, talent, and basketball intelligence has made him an international icon both on and off the court. LeBron has been a dominant force in the NBA for the last twenty years, racking up accolades and breaking records in the process. But the question on everyone's mind is whether LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time (GOAT)? While people may have differing views on that, one thing is sure LeBron's influence on the game and his undeniable dominance are not arguable.
LeBron James has had a storied career, beginning with his introduction into the NBA as the top pick in 2003. He has gone on to lead teams to championships and has received MVP awards which cements his place as a basketball icon. Four NBA championships, four MVPs, and 17 All-Star appearances are on his résumé. Apart from hardware, LeBron's longevity is a consideration. With 2025 now behind our rearview mirrors, he remains playing at an elite level, defying expectations of the wear and tear of the body as years go by with athletes. It is a testament to his tireless work ethic, dedication, and physical well-being to be dominant well into his 30s.
LeBron is also versatile. His rare combination of size (6'9" and 250 pounds) and athleticism has allowed him to play basically any position on the court. He is able to score, pass, rebound, and defend, playing two or three positions in a single game at times. His basketball IQ is through the roof, and he makes the people around him better, which I believe is key to his success. I feel his unstoppable ability to will his team to victory in clutch situations has been present in his career his entire time as a pro.
LeBron James' greatness transcends the playing court. He is now an international sports legend and a voice of authority for social justice. His entrepreneurial ventures, philanthropy, and activism have had long-lasting effects, and he is an inspiration to millions. Among his most highly publicized off-court accomplishments is the creation of the "I PROMISE School" in Akron, Ohio, a public elementary school for high-risk kids. LeBron's commitment to making other people's lives better has also made his legacy be more than a player.
Greatness in basketball can be measured in different ways. Some people think winning championships is the most important, while others focus on how a player has impacted the game. LeBron is special not just because of his amazing stats, but also because he has a strong influence both during games and in the community, which makes his legacy strong in sports history. He is definitely one of the greatest players ever. His athletic skills and ability to play for many years make him a key figure in basketball. Whether someone thinks he is the best ever can be a matter of opinion, but everyone can see how he inspires and motivates others. For those who appreciate greatness, LeBron will always be an impressive player.

Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I am a fan of Sabrina Carpenter because she has always been such an inspiring figure, especially when I first saw her in Girl Meets World when I was younger. Watching her play Maya Hart really resonated with me, and she had this perfect balance of being relatable, funny, and super talented. Her character was someone who dealt with real-life issues but still managed to keep her head up and find her way, which made her feel like a real person, not just a character on TV.
What made it even more special was how my mom and I bonded over the show. She loved Boy Meets World when she was younger, and *Girl Meets World* brought back a lot of those memories for her. We would watch the episodes together, and it became a tradition for us. Sabrina’s role as Maya was one of the reasons we connected so well over the show—it felt like a bridge between generations, and we would talk about how Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World were different, yet both impactful.
As Sabrina grew in her career and transitioned into music, I was inspired by her versatility. Songs like "Thumbs" and "Sue Me" really showed off her creativity and her ability to evolve, and it made me realize that it is okay to follow multiple passions. Sabrina’s journey made me feel like I could pursue my own interests too, whether it is in business or something completely different.
In the end I feel Sabrina’s career has had a big impact on me by showing me that it is okay to grow and change, and that you can balance different passions. Plus, her ability to stay true to herself while dealing with the pressures of being in the public eye is something that really stands out and inspires me to be confident in who I am. It is pretty cool that I can now look back at her career and still feel that connection with my mom, all while watching Sabrina continue to evolve as an artist and role model.
Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish has a way of creating music that feels raw, real, and emotionally resonant. Three of my top Billie Eilish songs, reflect different parts of her artistry that speak to me, whether it is the vibe, the lyrics, or how they make me feel. They are Bury a Friend, Everything I wanted and Bad Guy.
Bury a Friend, I feel this track is super haunting and eerie, which is probably why it stands out to me. The dark, distorted sound, combined with lyrics that explore inner struggles and self-reflection, resonates with me because of the way I have felt about battling my thoughts and emotions. Billie’s portrayal of a sense of being trapped or consumed by her own mind hits home for me because it relates to that feeling of being overwhelmed or unsure about the world around me, which is something I struggle with.
Everything I wanted relates to me because I feel like I am constantly chasing bigger dreams, but I still feel that underlying emptiness. The song is not just about achieving success; it is about the fear that success will not be enough to solve everything. The song’s vulnerability and themes of mental health and self-worth are something I connect with, especially since I feel the pressure to live up to people's expectations, whether personal or external.
Bad Guy is my final song, this song is super fun and has a totally different vibe from the others. It is playful, confident, and has a catchy beat, but still carries Billie’s signature cool, unconventional energy. I feel I resonate with this track because it celebrates individuality and embraces a bold, rebellious side. I love the lyrics about challenging norms and defying expectations because I am someone who likes to go against the grain and do not mind being a little different.
Each of these songs speaks to different parts of my personality, whether it is introspective and emotional, rebellious and carefree, or reflective about personal struggles. Billie Eilish has a way of expressing complex emotions and experiences that connect with listeners, making her music feel deeply personal and relatable.

Monroe Justice and Equality Memorial Scholarship
Building trust between law enforcement and the African American community is super important if we want to create safer and more equal neighborhoods. There is a long history of tension and mistrust between these groups, mainly because of things like racial profiling, unfair policing, and cases of police violence. But this does not have to stay the same. If law enforcement makes an effort to communicate more, get involved with the community, and change the system where it is needed, we can make a real difference.
The biggest thing that the police can do is gain trust by being open and involved. One of the ways that they can accomplish this is by engaging in community policing. This involves officers doing more than patrolling and arresting people and going out and actually engaging the community in a good manner. They can go to neighborhood functions or even schools. By doing so when something does go wrong, they are proving that they are present to be part of the community and not someone who is not part of the community but enters only after things have gone awry. This should make them more comprehensible and close the gap between the police and the community whom they are meant to serve.
Another aspect that needs to change is police training. The police need to implement programs that train officers on racial bias, cultural diversity, and how to de-escalate confrontational situations. Officers need to learn about the specific problems that African American communities face and learn how to handle situations without using excessive force. If they are trained to de-escalate instead of rushing headlong into violent action, it can be a huge step towards preventing violence. The police have to be trained that their job is not just to enforce the law it is to protect and serve everyone, no matter the color of their skin.
Accountability is the other key piece of the puzzle. Officers need to be held accountable. If something does go terribly wrong, there has to be an open, transparent way to deal with complaints and investigations. Things like body cameras and independent review panels can help ensure everything is on the up and up. Holding officers accountable for their actions does more than restore trust; it prevents future mistakes from occurring.
We need to talk about some of the most important law enforcement reforms. Some of those strategies, including stop-and-frisk, the war on drugs, and mandatory minimums, most often hurt African American communities the hardest. Those problems need to be fixed. The police can help by sitting down with lawmakers and reforming those unfair policies. If they do, it shows they care about actual justice and not just about being liked more by people.
Finally, there must be open and honest communication between law enforcement and the African American community. There must be regular town halls, listening sessions, and community meetings where they sit down and discuss the issues, listen to all points of view, and work together on the solutions. Law enforcement has to actually hear what people have to say and the African American community has to feel heard and that their voice matters.
Fixing the police-African American relationship is not going to be something that will happen overnight. It will take time, effort, and a lot of hard work. But if the police do the work to get out into the community, do some work on training, hold themselves accountable, and do the work to address unfair laws, we can restore trust and make our communities safer for all.
Team USA Fan Scholarship
In all honesty, my favorite athlete to cheer on for Team USA is LeBron James. The guy is a legend. I have been watching him play since I was a young child, and it is absurd to think about how he is still dominating the game after all these years given that he has been in the league forever.
LeBron is not just about his out-of-control talent on the court he's a total leader, both on and off the court. He has been working towards social change and using his voice with his platform, and that makes him even more incredible. What I love about LeBron is that he plays with so much passion, and he is always trying to improve. His basketball IQ is off the charts, and he makes plays where you are sitting there thinking to yourself, "How in the world did he even see that coming?" It is always crazy watching him play for Team USA in international competition, especially when it counts the most.
He is one of the guys who have seen so much in their lives and yet still emerge as a winner, and I just totally respect him for that. And to top it, he is dunking over dudes like he is 25 again, which is insane. You just can not help but support him!
Love Island Fan Scholarship
Challenge Name: The Love Olympics maybe name it Heartthrob Hurdle or Love Labyrinth?
Overview:
This is a humorous obstacle course where the Islanders face off in a series of romantic-themed challenges that test their agility, ingenuity, and most of all how far they are willing to embarrass themselves for love. It is really a mix of physical challenge and rom-com movie with all of the cringe-inducing moments and cheesy romance you could ever want.
Challenge Setup:
Location:
The challenge takes place in a ridiculous, love-themed obstacle arena. There is a lot of random, over-the-top decorations like giant inflatable cupids holding arrows that could probably double as a weapon in the hands of someone really angry. Oh, and there is a lot of glitter everywhere
Participants:
The Islanders are split into pairs, whether they are a couple, friend duo, or random draws (awkward).
Obstacle Course
In this first phase, pairs must run through a wacky obstacle course filled with everything goofy. But it is not just about speed there are “love arrows” swinging from above, and if they hit you, you have to freeze and give your partner a super cringe-worthy, over-the-top romantic speech for 10 seconds. Bonus points if it makes everyone else cringe.
The Love Talk Challenge
This round will test the Islanders' ability to sound both genuinely romantic and totally ridiculous. Each pair must take turns giving each other compliments. But, here is the catch: they can not use typical compliments like “You look hot.” If they do, they have to do a goofy dance move. The more ridiculous the compliment the better. If they can not come up with one in 10 seconds, they have to do 10 jumping jacks dressed in goofy outfit
Memory + Mishmash Challenge
At this stage, each team must mix up a ridiculous "love potion" using bizarre ingredients scattered around the course. These include things like glitter, a bowl of whipped cream, heart-shaped marshmallows, and… a rubber chicken? The catch is, they have to memorize where everything is hidden, but one of the ingredients has a serious twist: it is a "surprise ingredient" that could either be delicious (like chocolate syrup) or questionable (like a mix of hot sauce and pickle juice). If they accidentally grab the wrong item, they have to drink the "potion" together. The more outrageous the reaction to the drink, the better.
The couple who gets through all the stages with the fastest time and the highest amount of embarrassing charm wins the challenge. It is not just about speed it is about entertaining the audience with the best awkward romantic moments and most ridiculous attempts at being romantic.
The winning couple gets a “VIP Date Night,” which is an evening filled with romantic and hilarious challenges. Think picnic with blindfolds, playing “guess that food” with bizarre ingredients, and serenading each other… while balancing a spoon on their noses. It is a total mess, but that is the point.
Twist Instead of doing the Winning Couple, it could be a surprise that the losing pair gets a “punishment date,” where they have to clean up the entire obstacle course while wearing inflatable hearts and singing love songs the whole time. It is humiliating but will be good for everyone’s entertainment!
This challenge is guaranteed to leave audiences in stitches and cringing at the romance. With impossible obstacle courses and awkward compliments, this olympic-style game gets the worst and best out of the Islanders, and is a rollercoaster ride of chaos, laughter, and romance. It is the perfect combination of competitiveness and cheesy romance that everyone secretly craves.
Charli XCX brat Fan Scholarship
My go-to track from Charli XCX’s Brat album has to be "Rewind." I am totally obsessed with it. It has this electric pop sound that is super high-energy, but at the same time, the lyrics are so emotional and introspective. The song is all about trying to hold on to something that is slipping away and the desire to go back and fix things, which honestly really resonates with me. It is about feeling stuck between what you want and what is right, and I think a lot of people can relate to that feeling of wanting to rewind time and make things better.
Charli absolutely nailed it with this one. It is a dance anthem, but it is also packed with emotion. The upbeat, catchy vibe makes you want to move, but then you get hit with these deeper, more reflective feelings. It is like the freedom of dancing, but also this sense of loss as you realize you can not turn back time. The more you listen, the more it feels like the song is speaking to you, pulling you in with its energy but also making you think.
The production is also perfect. It combines pop with some new, experimental sounds that really bring it to the next level. Charli's vision shines through, and the song is so fresh. Mixing new beats with those memorable pop hooks makes it both new and timeless. In all honesty, every time I listen to it, I notice something new, and you can hear Charli really put it all into creating this song.
By and large, "Rewind" is the zenith of Charli XCX's incredible talent. It is that song which takes a twirl in your emotional heart but also gets you high at the same time. It makes you look at your life but also causes you to bop your body to the track. The amalgamation of brutal emotion and contagious power is the very reason why this song is my favorite on the album Brat.
