Since I was a kid, the center table in our living room was a car that needed to be repaired. My tools were my mother's hairbrush, a pencil, a pen and a toy screwdriver or anything that, in my imagination, was a tool. Since then, I have known that I wanted to be an auto mechanic/technician when I grew up. I have already been accepted at Universal Technical Institute in Austin, Texas, and now I am in the process of applying for scholarships to be able to finance my studies at this university. I am certain that this will be one of the greatest experiences of my life; it will be tough to live far from my family, but I have accepted all the challenges and hard times I will go through. I understand that these challenges will eventually lead me to achieve my dreams of being, if not the best, one of the best mechanics to ever graduate from Universal Technical Institute. My parents have always encouraged me to continue studying, They have never imposed any specific career on me, but they have always wanted me to do what I love. Although they have worked very hard all their lives, they cannot afford to pay for my studies. For that reason, I am happy to be in a country where we can apply for federal, state, local, and private scholarships. These scholarships will help me achieve a career in which I will be able to contribute to a sustainable future for all. By achieving my goal of being an auto/diesel mechanic, I will be able to find a well-paying job, so I can financially support the family that I want to eventually have and also my parents when they need me. I hope to one day open a workshop in Menard where I can service and repair vehicles that pass through our community. Menard is a bustling town, and currently we have only one auto repair shop where people have access to repair for diesel vehicles, work trucks, or heavy machinery, and they stay extremely busy. For that reason I would like to provide an additional shop that residents can trust and depend on that will keep them from having to transport their vehicles to other towns for faster service. Furthermore, I also hope to one day generate jobs for my community and encourage it to continue to progress.

My experience as a son of an immigrant family has not been the greatest. My dad came to us so he could give me a better life and education so I am extremely grateful because of that but it has not been easy, when I first got to the US learning English was my biggest obstacle hearing all of my classmates speak it and me not understand anything was very scary not only that but also not being able to understand anything my teacher was teaching was discouraging. Communicating out of school was also a challenge I couldn't buy candy or chips at the store because I couldn't understand but slowly with time, with the help of my teachers and classmates I was able to learn most of the English vocabulary but the challenges didn't end there even though I had learned English my parents had not so I would always have to be their translator even with small things like pumping gas, paying for things we would buy at a store. to this day I still have to help them with things like filling out doctor documents and other more important documents, I was able to help them and do well in my education thanks to the slow growth of learning the language throughout my school years.
