Bio

During my summers in high school, I completed multiple internships in different legal fields in an attempt at finding my true passion in law. In the summer of 2021, I was the personal intern for Circuit Court Judge William Altfield; he worked in the criminal and drug court division. Here, I realized I did truly love reading and debating, but I also saw that criminal division was not meant for me. However, throughout my time working with him, I still gained valuable legal drafting and researching skills. These abilities transferred over to my next summer working at a small law firm, as I was able to assist the lawyer and paralegals throughout the multifaceted firm. I felt as if I had truly learned the value and responsibilities of owning your own firm. Simple things, such as being my own boss, had sparked a desire to become independent. I understood the risks of starting a small company to assist those in need, while still performing as a high-level attorney. Since this law firm dealt with many fields, I was able to come into contact with corporate law, which ignited a passion in me that ascertained my belief I had found my dream job. These summers spent working instead of partying were meaningful to me because I found a profession that resonated with me; every time I opened up the firm, I saw a window of opportunity, and every time I locked the door to leave, I saw my future.

Standing at a large auditorium, wearing a bright red jacket with the words USA on my back, feeling the weight of every step I took amplified a hundredfold. A younger version of me would have been proud to have seen I was an international competitor for Tae Kwon Do. But few knew the pain I experienced to compete internationally. Countless injuries and the slow process of regaining skills had taught me, my determination and resilience were all I ever needed to succeed. Before competing at the Las Vegas Open in 2017 I suffered from a couple of injuries from pulled muscles and multiple dislocated joints in my legs resulting in a slow and painful recovery in my left leg that still does not feel the same. Hours spent at the dojo trying to practice a kick that I had spent 8 years doing that now I simply could not. Every kick and jump felt awkward as I had lost the confidence that had made me so successful. I never gave up, I went to physical therapy and started practicing until I slowly regained that confidence by pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I straightened my black belt and took some deep breaths, I was going to be confident and content with whatever result I got because my left leg knew the work, tears, and pain that served as a constant reminder to not give up, to be resilient in the face of challenges and to be confident in myself.
