My name is Luis Aaron Jimenez Guillen and I’m a young entrepreneur and innovator at the University of the Incarnate Word. Ever since I was little, I’ve had a certain trait that has allowed me to see invisible things. Things that were hard to see and that most people just ignored. This “superpower” started when I was 16 years old and I was working out at the gym. Whereas for someone in the gym thought about the spinning studio as a place where a bunch of people pedaled to the sound of the music, for me, it was something completely different. I didn’t see people pedaling to burn some calories, but a place where lots of the so-called, “kinetic energy”, was being produced by the thousands. Not only energy was produced by humans, but it was being wasted! In a world where energy consumption rises each year and its production comes at the cost of the environment, I needed to do something about it. Such a problem-solving lens has helped me to become an entrepreneur and it’s was has taken me where I’m standing. Most of this inspiration and mentality it’s due to my father who is an entrepreneur himself. He started with little as a phone number and a couple of bucks to Guadalajara, Mexico. But he slowly started working towards a dream of his, a company. He saw a need on the market and with a couple of colleges, they went on and founded Assetel. Every time I hear his story on how he did what he accomplished I’m mesmerized and inspired by him. He came from nothing and now his company has grown ever since and was able to give me higher education in the U.S. When I think of big entrepreneurs and innovators, the first thing that comes up to mi mind is not Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, but my father. From that same inspiration at the age of 16, the same opportunity I saw at the gym became a Startup named Dpower, a renewable energy solution made for the fitness centers that used the energy generated by humans and transformed it into electricity. This idea took me to multiple international business competitions and was presented in front of more than 400 people and it even took me to the finals at San Francisco in 2018. I was able to then create the device that transforms electricity with a lab in San Antonio where I meet other entrepreneurs who shaped me. That small taste of entrepreneurship gave me the will to continue on the same path and set the idea of having a company before the age of 21. Ever since then, I’ve been growing my skills as an entrepreneur and creating multiple business ideas. While majoring in Mechatronics Engineering, I started a business concept named VOY, a food delivery service for universities. I created GEIMON, a gaming truck for rental with the most up-to-date consoles and technology in Mexico. My most current endeavor is named TXTYLE, a clothing and apparel startup that combines the modern and fashionable with the traditional and cultural riches of Mexico where we create unique clothing pieces that are handmade by indigenous artisans and sold to the young Generations. I’ve participated in more than 10 business competitions and won multiple awards due to this. Even though I’ve failed in most of my startup ideas, I never lose hope and transform such failures into knowledge for the future. I’m currently the president of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) Club at UIW where I share my experiences with others and help other students to become young entrepreneurs where we host multiple guest speakers, workshops, and other events. I continue to grow my arsenal with new innovation methodologies, emerging technologies, and business mentors that teach me how to become a better entrepreneur. My goal is to finally establish my very first business in the US and become a businessman where I can give back to the community and bring a solution to today’s problems. As I continue to grow as a professional, I’ll keep doing what I know how to do best; being a young entrepreneur.
