Although they never had the chance to go to college themselves, my parents have always encouraged me to pursue my education. Navigating the academic difficulty of college-level STEM courses while also learning how to be a college student has been one of my major struggles. Engineering, physics, and chemistry classes require self-control, perseverance, and problem-solving abilities that go beyond memorizing. I experienced times of hardship, self-doubt, and overwhelm. Rather than giving up, I discovered how to harness resources, ask for assistance, and work the extra hours required to become better.
